THE COMMUNITY CHURCH NEWS VOL.1 FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 28, 1934 STOW, OHIO NO. 36 MINISTER'S COLUMN This little paper fills a need, it renders a service, by many it is appreciated It is sponsored by Mr. Stockman. Our kind and earnest brother contributes liberally of his time, energy and means that his church and neighbors may enjoy and profit by this weekly bulletin. In this effort our Mr. Stockman gives a full share of labor and devotion to the cause that lies dear to his heart. No one pays him, few thank him, the effort is generally received as commonplace. Do ycu appreciate this paper? Come then to the church and say so, just pay us a visit, give a word of encouragement. Come ever and express your goodwill. We are not asking for your financial support, but we do ask, where do you keep your heart. Say it, my friend, with your presence. Come over and visit our camp. This front page article has one object a message. The space I occupy is worth several dollars. My message is to you. Do you live each day as though that was the last and only day on earth? No man qualifies for life as fully as he who prepares for death and lives in daily expectation of the exchange of worlds. This world with its myriads of human creatures is wrong end to You fuss and fret about material things, you dodge the church because you have no work, fret because you are penniless, you libel God and dam man because of general dissatisfaction. Quit it. Grow a soul, cultivate the spiritual man, and God Almighty will be your partner in all that is needful. Try it out my brother and know for yourself. I am positive I am right. I have proven it so again and again. Divine laws operate to safe-guard, to nourish and bless you just as certain as the railroad operates to carry passengers and freight. Quit playing hide and seek with God, touch His laws and live. It is you and tyou and you that is wrong, not the world and not God. GEO. M. HULME, Minister COMMUNITY SUNDAY EVENING SERVICES People of Stow are invited to a Sunday evening get-together at the Community Church this Sunday. There will be three distinct parts to this get-together service. FIRST, a social hour and picnic lunch. Come a little before 6:00 P. M_ Bring your lunch and table service. This now makes six boys and six girls in their family. ^ The very latest arrival that ws know of is a new Baby girl last Monday at the heme of Mr..and Mrs. L. F. Bratton, 173 Uniondale Mr. Bratton we hear is- very proud of his new daughter. While gathering some of the aforementioned news about babies the conversation turned to children. We were informed that by aetuar count recently 45 children got on the school Bus at Arndale road, the bus already being filled with a load from Ritchie road. Another stop is sometimes made at Maple road where five or six others get an Counting the school children! living on: the above mentioned road's, it was found that soma 85' or 9D depend on the one bus for transportation to school. The seating capacity is less than half the above number. Presumably this same condition is prevalent in the rest of Stow township and presumably the school board will tell you it is the lack of sufficient tax money coming in to properly support the schools that causes this deplorable condition. Moral: Pay your taxes. The Scout boys, some 33 of them were guests of honor at a dinner last Tuesday evening held at the Fire Department house. "Poi^" Lantz was the chef. This dinner was for their work and assistance on Firemen's Field Day. Corn roasts were in order last week for the River road. folks. One was held at Dorseys, another Saturday night, September 22nd at the Earl Gowan home in Stow. It is related that at this last mentioned party Mrs. C. V. Cross received a sound spanking in honor of her birthday. Desirous of seeing those West Virginia hills for himself, Claude McColgan journeyed there with Jack Mosley last week. This day is almost o'er and its toiling time is thru; is there anyone to offer a kindly word to you? Can you say tonight, in parting with the day that's slipping fast, that you helped a single brother of the many whcm yen: passed? Is a single heart rejoicing over what you did or said? Does a man whose hopes were fading, now with courage look ahead? Did you waste the day or lose it, was it well or poorly spent?" Did you leave a trail of kindness, or a scar of discontent?'
