EARLY ISLAMIC HISTORY AND THE LIVES OF THE KHULAFA-E-RASHIDEEN ra Urdu Keywords یبن خ ل یفہ : PROPHETپة KHALIFAH: HAZRAT ABU BAKR HAZRAT UMAR HAZRAT UTHMAN HAZRAT ALI WHAT THE HOLY PROPHET SA SAID ABOUT KHILAFAT he Holy Prophet Muhammad T sa was a prophet of God and it is the way of God that whenver prophethood is established Khilafat follows it. The question is what is Khilafat? The word Khalifah means Naib of successor. So the Khalifah is the person who is the successor of the Prophet. Hence this means that Khilafat is an institution which is established after the demise of the Prophet who then carries on the Prophet s mission. For example, if we examine the early history of Islam we find that the Prophet was the Holy Prophet Muhammad sa who came to establish the unity of God. However, since this task was so difficult and everlasting that it could not be done in the lifetime of one individual, hence, Khilafat-e-Rashidah was established to carry on the mission of the Holy Prophet Muhammad sa. During the lifetime of the Holy Prophet Muhammad sa many events were foretold including the establishment of Khilafat. He said to Hazrat Umar ra that Allah the Almighty would bestow such a mantle upon him which other people would try to take, but Hazrat Umar ra should never give up. That mantle was Khilafat. The Holy Prophet Muhammad sa also foretold of the Khilafat that we are fortunate to witness today. He stated in a Hadith (which has been quoted on the contents page) that after khilafat-e-rashida there would be many kings who would rule for a long time. However, in the latter days Allah the Almighty would once again established Khilafat after Prophethood. Meaning that first Allah would send a prophet: The Promised Messiah as and then after the Promised Messiah as Allah the Almighty would establish Khilafat which would last forever. Pioneer Muslim Hazrat Umar ra used to be a fierce opponent of Islam. However, one day he heard the Holy Quran and was moved to tears after which he embraced islam. Peace When some Christian areas were conquered Hazrat Umar ra visited them and signed a treaty declaring freedom for Christians. THE HOLY PROPHET MUHAMMAD SA STATED: Devout Companion Hazrat Umar ra was a very devout and loyal companion. He would always be the first to obey the Holy Prophet sa. Once when money was needed by the Muslims Hazrat Umar ra donated half of his wealth. Welfare of the people Hazrat Umar ra looked after the Muslims so much that he would go around at night looking for people in need and help them in whatever way they needed wether they were Muslims or not. Second Khalifah Hazrat Umar ra became the second Khalifah of Islam. During his Khilafat many milestones were achieved and Islam spread far and wide. Martyred in the way of Allah Hazrat Umar ra was offering offering Namaz inside a mosque when he was stabbed by a slave. He passed away a few days later as a martyr. Indeed, Allah has placed truth upon Umar`s tongue and heart. 01 02

KHILAFAT Sayings and incidents of our beloved Khulafah Urdu Keywords KHILAFAT: : UZOORهزئHئح الختف وضحر WHAT THE PROMISED MESSIAH AS STATED: How nice it would be if everyone from my followers were Nooruddin. This is possible only when one s heart is illuminated by the light of truth and firm belief MY FIRST SPEECH IMPORTANCE OF PRACTICE No matter how many lectures you give to some one on how to swim, telling him this is how you have to make strokes, and this is how to move your legs, and this is how to keep your body flat, no matter whether he does a Ph.D. in the subject, he will drown if you throw him in the water. Just by acquiring academic knowledge of swimming, you may study the history of the world, you will find that without practice the scholar will drown when he enters deep water. The first speech that I made in a public gathering- was after reading this paragraph of the Holy Qur an in this very Mosque... My knowledge has greatly increased since then and my thoughts and ideas have changed, but even now I become amazed when I read this speech. How did those ideas come out of my mouth? And if I spoke those words now, I would think they were explained to me through the special Grace of God. [ THE FIRST MOSQUE IN SPAIN AFTER 750 YEARS ] In 1980, Hazrat Mirza Nasir Ahmad rh traveled to Spain, where he laid the foundation stone of the Basharat Mosque in Pedro Abad. This was the first mosque to be built in Spain in over 750 years. It was here he coined the motto Love for All, Hatred for None. Khilafat Centenary Message Dear ones of the Promised Messiah as and the flourishing branches of the tree of his being! Rise up. Be ready to make any sacrifice required for the further strengthening of Khilafat-e-Ahmadiyya so that, by holding fast to the rope of Allah, you may spread, to the ends of the world, the message of the Holy Prophet sa. SPORTS DID YOU KNOW The Holy Prophet Muhammad sa used to brush his teeth using Miswak (an form of natural toothbrush) and he would take great care of his hygiene. 10 BENEFITS OF JOGGING Why personal 1 Weight Loss You can burn hundreds of calories by running Healthy Heart You can improve heart circulation and reduce risk of disease 6 hygiene is so important Personal hygiene is very important. One might say that Reciting the Namaz is more important. or, Education is more important., but think about it, wudu is cleaning yourself before you read Namaz and is obligatory, so Allah is commanding you to stay clean, so you must have personal hygiene. Education also, you wouldn t go to a school or college or a university in tattered clothes, smelly odour around you and a very unclean face and body, would you? Another point is that doctors in this day and age are discovering the many benefits of personal hygiene (preventing illness, physiologically attracting people instead of deterring them) but 1400 years ago the Holy Prophet (May the peace and blessing of Allah be upon him) said this Hadith: Cleanliness is half of faith. So this means that even the Holy Prophet (May the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) has BY JAZIB SPEN VALLEY, YORKSHIRE confirmed that personal hygiene is essential. Here are a few scenarios in which personal hygiene really comes in handy. In some social places personal hygiene can be used against you. Those who haven t been taught at an early age or just can t be bothered can be subject to bullying. If you smell bad or look dirty, people tend to keep away from you instead suggesting your bad personal hygiene. The last scenario is that with bad personal hygiene others physiologically, without even knowing it, are slightly meaner, stricter and stay further away from you than if you had good hygiene. To keep good personal hygiene you need to brush your teeth, wash your hand, shower frequently, clean your hair and nails and cut them also. 2 3 4 5 Strengthen bones Bones are stimulated to stay stronger. Stress Relief You can better cope with everyday stress Immune system You can get a stronger immune system Burn fat Burning calories leads to reduction in body fat. Mental Health Jogging increases self-confidence and can life mood. Brain Power You can increase brain function and be more productive. Ease Anxiety Jogging releases chemicals in the brain which make you happy. Happiness Running everyday can lead to a happier life. 7 8 9 10 07 08

Yes it does, did you know that the word Khilafat means succession and a Khalifa is a successor We live in these huge huge world. And Khilafat ties us together in it. There is a verse in the Quran that states: And hold tight to the rope of Allah and do not become divided. It is so important to go to Khutba and listen to Huzur s sermons. They teach us about how we should live a good life 11 Khilafat brings us unity and peace. Which is the whole meaning of Islam itself. We are part of one brotherhood Yes, in the Friday sermon we learn about how to follow the path of Allah Tallah, which also brings us joy and comfort

Life tips & Inspiration My Daily Planner LEADERSHIP [ A Quote by Hazrat Mirza Tahir Ahmad Sahib rh Hazrat Khalifatul Masih IV rh Fajr Namaz Zuhr Namaz 1. Plan your day around Namaz. If you do this then your life will begin to revolve around the worship of God and you will see that whatever you do becomes blessed. Khuddam Role 15 My first task in the Jama at started with Khuddam-ul-Ahmadiyya. As a member of Atfal I was so eager to become a Khadim as I did not want to be a Tifl for long. Of course, any attempts made were quite futile and were turned down by the then Sadr, Mirza Nasir Ahmad Sahib (later to become Hadhrat Khalifatul Masih III, in view of my age. On becoming a Khadim, my first post was as Saiq - a leader of ten. This proved a bitter experience as I was dealing with my own brothers, who were more older than me and therefore they looked down on me. If I relayed any decision to them on the authority of Majlis Khuddamul Ahmadiyya they would take it lightly. In this regard, I suppose I was more idealistic and therefore surprised how members of the Jama at, who prescribed to the system would not obey someone as they regarded him as inferior. In those days I was very hasty in reporting matters to my superiors, expecting them to take my side immediately. My mistake was this impatience, which led to further suffering, in that subordinates would not co-operate and superiors would not support me. I felt things just happened and no-one really cared. It was very difficult to accept but ultimately I learned that in relationships which are religious in character, coercion plays a very small role if one at all. It is important for a person to rise to the occasion and reach a status where people will respect you, and in this way your command will be followed. It is through conviction and concerted hard labour after which you can win people over and get them to obey you. There is a basic training one needs before leading a group and this involves how to get people to obey you, as God says I built the universe in the first six days and sat on the throne on the seventh. This lesson I learnt, and realised that in religion you make your own universe and then apply your authority. Therefore, by the time I became Sadr, I had gone through various stages of holding various posts and knew when to obey and how to be obeyed. Asr Namaz Maghrib Namaz Isha a Namaz My daily targets 1. 2. 3. 2. Try to wake up for Fajr Namaz and pray before God. You will find that in the beginning it may be hard, but once you get used to it then it becomes something that you cannot do without. 3. Everyday set yourself 3 targets and pray to God so that you can achieve them. Planning your time and your daily activities is the best way to live a productive lifestyle. 16

ت WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF MY LIFE? This is a question which has bothered humans since the beginning. As soon as we could think properly we began to ask ourselves why are we here and purpose do we have? The basis of all scientific pursuits is to answer this very question so that we may attain that purpose. But we as Muslims are extremely lucky as we have been told directly in the Holy Qur an that our purpose is to worship our Creator. Our lives, in essence, revolve around this very point and everything that a man has to do in his life falls under this pursuit. For example, we get an education because we have been commanded by God to do so. We go TARBIYYAT out and earn a living because that way we can sustain ourselves and help others around us. We play sports so that we can be fit and strong and carry out our duties in the best way. Therefore, everything that we do revolves around the central point that we need to please our Creator. In reality this is the best way to live one s life. If everything that we do is to please Allah the Almighty then we automatically begin to see the value of life and become better individuals and a source of peace for others around us. That is the definition of a true Muslim. The purpose of the Have you ever wondered section is to tackle a different kind of question... Asalamoalaikum! My name is Ghalib and I am the Tarbiyyat Secretary for atfal. You can send me your questions at tahirmagazine@atfal.org.uk Your Question goes here ALLAH THE ALMIGHTY SAYS TARBIYYAT F.A.Q.S WHAT IS THE CORRECT AGE TO FAST? The correct age to fast is simply when you feel that you are ready and it will in no shape have a negative influence on your health. For example, if you think that by the age of 16 or 17 you are ready to fast than that is perhaps the age for you. However, if you still feel that it is too much for you then you can begin fasting at the age of 18. Remember that Islam is a religion which has been made easy and there is no compulsion in it. You should always seek the advice of your parents too and dicuss with them your wishes to fast. My Mercy covers all things The Holy Quran- 7-155 Urdu Keywords TARBIYYAT: HOW DOES THE HOLY QUR AN HELP ME IN MY LIFE The Holy Qur an is a guide book for all people. Allah the Almighty through various ways has told mankind to do certain actions such as praying, fasting and helping the poor and stay away from certain things, such as foul language, lying and greed. All of these things in the Holy Qur an are supposed to teach us how to live our lives to the best possible extent. So in simple words, if you follow the Holy Qur an then your life will improve as you will be safeguarded from the evils of the world. ب ی رت وسال : QUESTIONق 17 18
