May 27, 2012 7 ST FRANCIS FESTIVAL TIME & TALENT BOOTH I am sure you are wondering, is this a singing or musical booth? That is not the type of talent this Booth is about! The Time & Talent Booth started last year at our Annual Festival to display the Handiwork Talent of our St. Francis Community. We had 22 donations last year and were able to raise funds through a Chinese Auction of Talent. We are asking you to contribute to this year s booth and show everyone your special individual Handiwork Talent! If you have a Hobby or a Special Handiwork Talent to donate, we would like your talent to be displayed and be part of our Festival. WOODWORKING ITEMS KNITTING OR CROCHET ITEMS~PAINTINGS CRAFTS ~SCRAP BOOKING~JEWELRY MAKING QUILTING~POTTERY~VEGTABLE BASKETS GIFT ITEMS~DRAWINGS Last year we had a Village of Bird Houses that was a big hit with everyone. We had a Treasure Chest filled with Wine & Cheese, Pictures both painted & hand stitched. We had handmade scarves, hats and Afghans. One person donate a huge basket of tools from Home Depot, another donated a bag full of goodies from Wild by Nature. We had special pillows donated by Chiropractors. Many Gift Certificates for special events & much more items. Talent takes many forms and we would like to see yours and display it for the community of St Francis to view. Everyone has so much fun going through the booth ~ looking at the displayed talents & placing their tickets in the bags to win. The last evening of the festival, when the prizes were drawn, many people knew the winners of their donations and it added to the enjoyment of the event. You could hear I know that person with great excitement! If you have the Time & the Talent, please make a donation of your special talent to the Booth making our Festival a unique community event. No other Festival has a Booth like this! No other Festival has our Talents!!! Please help to feed the hungry of the parish. jxww Çzá M Paul Kremens and Brigette Reilly Know that the Lord is God; He made us, His we are; His people, the flock He tends. Psalm 100: 3 RESPECT LIFE NEWS Your spiritually adopted baby is now two months old. Her skeleton is complete, and all internal organs are present by the end of the eighth week. The buds of milk (baby) teeth are appearing. Ankles, knees, and toes can be made out. By six weeks her brain waves can be measured on an EEG, and the mother can hear her heartbeat on an ultrasonic stethoscope. At about 1-1/2 inches in length, the baby can move and respond to touch. And it has been reported that a two-month old baby can suck her thumb! From this moment onward, your spiritually adopted baby grows and refines her body. Everything she needs at birth is present by the end of the eighth week. Most abortions are performed during the second month. Your spiritually adopted baby needs your prayers! Be sure to check the picture of your two- month- old unborn baby. You can find it above the crib in our St. Francis of Assisi Baby Corner located in the rear of our Church. As you visit the image of Our Lady of Guadalupe, you might pray the prayer of Archbishop Fulton Sheen: Jesus, Mary, and Joseph, I love you very much. I beg you to save the life of the unborn baby that I have spiritually adopted, and is in danger of abortion. Mary, our Mother in Heaven, pray for us, and especially for your little ones in danger of abortion! Our little babies especially need Huggies, and Pampers diapers sizes 4, 5, and 6, unscented baby wipes, unscented baby wash, unscented baby shampoo, baby washcloths, and baby coupons. We thank Our Lord through the intercession of Our Lady of Guadalupe and St. Francis for all that you do for our precious babies. Need assistance? Wish to join our RESPECT LIFE COMMITTEE? Please call the rectory at 631-757-7435. Intercessions for Life: May 27 th Pentecost Sunday That the Holy Spirit may come down upon the leaders of our nation and upon all whose consciences are clouded by secularism, and inspire a new era of faith, liberty, and justice for all; We pray to the Lord. Word of Life: [With regard to the] HHS mandate for contraception, sterilization, and abortion-inducing drugs, the federal government will both force religious institutions to facilitate and fund a product contrary to their own moral teaching and purport to define which religious institutions are religious enough to merit protection of their religious liberty. These features of the preventive services: mandate amount to an unjust law. As Archbishop-designate William Lori of Baltimore, Chairman of the Ad Hoc Committee for Religious Liberty, testified to Congress, This is not a matter of whether contraception may be prohibited by the government. This is not even a matter of whether contraception may be supported by the government. Instead, it is a matter of whether religious people and institutions may be forced by the government to provide coverage for contraception or sterilization, even if that violates their religious beliefs. ~Our First, Most Cherished Liberty, USCCB Ad Hoc Committee for Religious Liberty April 12, 2012 * The Life Center of Long Island at 631-243-2373.
