How long will mockers delight in mockery The Book of Proverbs continually uses three words to describe bad characters : the simple, the fools, the mockers. (See Proverbs 1:22 for example). What kind of people are they? The simple are the least harmful group. They live without thinking and are too lazy to change. The word also means a person without moral direction and inclined to evil. Fools have more smarts, but have made a conscious decision to live by their own wits. Fools think they know better than God. Mockers are worst of all. They are rebels against God, and are proud of it! God asks that we have enough wisdom to listen. If you had responded to my rebuke, I would have poured out my heart to you, and made my thoughts known to you! (Proverbs 1:23). Sometimes, I m simple. I live without thinking. Sometimes, I m foolish. I just don t listen. I hope that I m not a mocker, but there have been times when I have rebelled. I need to listen more. On my desk is a little plaque that says, A closed mouth gathers no feet. If we all listen more, really listen, we will get wisdom. I hope to see you this Sunday in the wisdom-getting-place. and fools hate knowledge?

They currently reside in Sarasota, Florida with their two children, Jadynn, age 7, and Jonathan, Jr., age 3. On January 11 at the 10:00 Worship Service, the sermon and children s sermon will be about how to join God s mission in what He is doing in your community, your city, and around the world. NOTES from the Music Committee WELCOME back! to all our northern friends and Welcome! to those who joined the church membership recently. If you are looking for volunteer opportunities within the church and you have a strong interest in music, the music program welcomes you to come sit in on a rehearsal session, talk to our members and see if this is where you would like to volunteer your time. You may or may not be aware that Roser Church has an excellent music program for adults and children. We have singers, ringers, chimers, and wonderful instrumentalists that volunteer their time throughout the year. We are appreciative of any time you can give to our music program. If you live here or are vacationing for a month, 3 months or longer we welcome you to come join our program. THE CHANCEL CHOIR provides the choral music and leads the hymns at most of Roser s Sunday worship services. Our choir numbers about 14 to 20 during the period from May to October and swells to about 38 during the October to April time. We rehearse on Thursday evenings at 7:00 pm. If you are interested contact the church office (941-778-0414) and someone will contact you from the music committee. This is a great way to use your musical talents in the service of God, and to enjoy singing and meeting new friends. THE JOYFUL NOISE CHOIR is for children in kindergarten through fifth grade. They meet Wednesday afternoons after school is out. Families do not have to be members of Roser to belong to the choir. Transportation is provided from AME on the church van. If you are interested please contact Glenda Beck through the church office (941-778-0414). THE ADULT HANDBELL CHOIR is known as the Roser Ringers. Although handbell experience is helpful, all that is required is the ability to read music, the flexibility to come to weekly rehearsals and a willing spirit. Contact the church office (941-778-0414) if you are interested and someone will contact you. THE ROSER CONCERT SERIES provides a venue for outreach into the community. The series is funded by free will offerings and supplemented by donations from our church members and concert patrons. Volunteers are welcome in the areas of ushering and advertising. Contact the church office (941-778-0414) and a member of the concert committee will contact you. Don t miss the opportunity to attend the first of three concerts (January 25 at 4:00 pm), and perhaps participate by volunteering and/or making a donation. Joy Bennington, Chairperson 3 MISSION OF THE MONTH HOPE SEEDS Hope Seeds is a Christian charitable organization which supplies quality vegetable and garden seeds to poor suffering people in underdeveloped nations. Hope Seeds distributes its product via Christian missionaries and/or mission teams from many denominations. The seed is packaged in small ziplock packets of ten varieties and species chosen for the climate and culture of the nation they are being sent to. It is free of charge. Over 8 million packets of seed have been sent to 57 countries. Each year the list of countries changes, averaging 14 countries each year. The amount of seed depends on need Emergency response (help after a disaster) or Development response (we partner with a ministry). To donate to the mission of the month, please use the envelope in the pew or go to the secure GIVE page at www.roserchurch. com and mark for MISSION OF THE MONTH. PLANT A SEED! FEED A SOUL! THE ROSER GUILD Everyone is welcome! Ladies of Roser Guild and guests were pleased to have Phyllis and Pastor Dr. Bob O Keef present a program of music and scripture for the December meeting. They sang beautifully together. For the first carol, Phyllis played the dulcimer, one that Pastor Bob had built for her. Everyone enjoyed hearing and singing some that were new to us, as well as the familiar Christmas carols. The President mentioned that money put into the table canisters and the pig at the Thrift Shop goes to the Roser Food Pantry, and reminded everyone to save their canceled postage stamps, can tabs and Box Tops for schools. These may be left in the church office or given to Glenda Beck, special projects chair, who also has the new Roser Cookbooks available. Guild members enjoyed the fellowship and hearing from a young Christian missionary at the Church Women United Christmas program at Rogers Memorial Community Church. The next CWU meeting will be at Trinity United Methodist Church, 3200 Manatee Ave. W., in Bradenton. Call me, Peggy Nash, 778-6483, so we may go together Members of the Naomi Circle provided refreshments of tea sandwiches, fruit, cookies, punch and tea for a fellowship time before some proceeded to the chapel for a Bible study with Dr. Bob.
