Materials Needed: For this activity, you will need this Help Sheet and supplies for each station. For the toy station, you will need toys and a bucket. For the coloring station, you will need a piece of butcher paper and some crayons. For the dishes station, you will need plastic dishes and a bucket. For the hug station, you will not need any supplies. #1 Note: For optional background music, set your CD player to repeat track 1 on your Power Up Jr. Sound Track CD. To Introduce The Activity Say: 1. Who can tell me what our Main Point is for today? (I Will Do Things For Others!) 2. We can do things for others to help them out or to show them that we care about them. 3. Right now, we are going to go through some stations, so we can practice doing things for others. 4. Let s walk through each station, so you will know what to do when you get there. For detailed instructions on how to lead the activity, see the Classroom Activity Training DVD. During The Activity Say: Note: After you have walked the children through each station, divide them into four groups and send each group to a station. Have them perform the acts at each station, and then ask each group to move to the next station. Toy Station: 1. This is the toy station. At this station, you are going to help someone else pick up their toys. They aren t your toys, but you can do something for someone else by helping them clean up. 11

Acts of Service Stations (Continued) Coloring Station: 2. This is the coloring station. Spending time with a friend while you color a picture together is a great way to do something for someone else. Sit with your friend and color a picture together until I ask you to move to the next station. Dishes Station: 3. This is the dishes station. Your mom and dad work hard to make you meals. You can do something for them by taking your dishes to the kitchen. In this station, you can take the dishes from the table to the bucket. Hug Station: 4. This is the hug station. If you see someone having a bad day, you can give them a hug. That will make them feel better. Give your friends at this station a hug or a high five to help them feel better. After The Activity Say: 1. I really enjoyed seeing each of you do things for others at each of these stations. 2. These things you did today are things you can also do at home or when you are at a friend s house. Closing Statement: Doing things for others is a good thing. Make sure you are doing things for others to show them that you care for them and want to help them. Note: If you have chosen to use the optional music, turn it off now. Power It UP (Continued) 4. Okay, we have all our pictures now. Let s put them in order and review our Bible Story. Note: Use the key below to put the pictures in order and review the Bible Story with your class. Jesus Eating With His Disciples - Jesus was having dinner with his closest friends, the disciples. Jesus loved his disciples very much, and he wanted to do something for them. Jesus Preparing to Wash The Disciples Feet - So Jesus got up from the table, wrapped a towel around his waist and poured water into a big bowl. Jesus Washing The Disciples Feet - Jesus knelt down to the ground and began washing the disciples feet. Back in those days, people had to walk long distances on dirt roads, and their feet would get very dirty. Whenever everyone would sit down to eat, someone would wash their feet, so they would be clean. Usually, the servants would do this, so the disciples were confused when their teacher, Jesus, did it for them. Jesus Talks To His Disciples - One of the disciples, Peter, didn t want Jesus to wash his feet because he didn t think that Jesus should do this for him. But, Jesus knew that it was important to do things for other people, so He washed their feet. He told the disciples to go and do things for others, just like He had done for them. After The Activity Say: 1. That was a great story! 2. This story teaches us that we can learn from Jesus. Let s say our Main Point together. I Will Do Things For Others! Closing Statement: Just like Jesus did something for His disciples, we can do things for others around us. Remember to do things for others this week. Note: If you have chosen to use the optional music, turn it off now. Up Next: Main Point Review Video 24
