Order of Service

Deacon Elect Brother Alfrado (Al) Gardner is a native of Miami, Florida born Dec 15th 1960. He is one of two sibling s boys born to Willie Lee and Susie Mae Gardner. Older brother named Willie James Gardner still reside in Miami Fl. Bro. Gardner is happily married to Gail Gardner of 31 years and proud parents of two exceptional children. One daughter and one son names Dianna, 28 of Washington DC; and Matthew, 23 of Manteo, NC, who both have just completed their Master Degrees this past May 2013. Bro. Gardner attended Florida State University 1982, and Shaw University receiving a double major Bachelor in Science degree in Business Administration and Accounting, graduating magna cum laude in 2003. Received his Masters in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting from Strayer University 2005 and received an Associate & Arts Degree in Accounting from Miami Dade College 1980. In addition, Al is a charter member of HFTP- Central Carolina (Hospitality Financial and Technical Professional and AII (Auditors International Institute). He holds a certification of CHA (Certified Hospitality Accountant). Over the past thirty years, Al has worked as an experienced accountant, controller, management professional with a proven record of leadership in the hospitality sector. Working in several major cities and working internationally, Al has extensive experience in capacities such as regional controller, corporate controller, operations management, and as an international internal auditor. This experienced prove to be the springboard for Al s professional career. Al style is leading by example, training, educating, administrative leadership, and organizational partnerships. One of his proudest accomplishments is being the founder and owner of AG Accounting Solution Company, which celebrated a three-year commemoration in 2009 before having to put aside his dream of owning his own business due to start-up concerns, which forced him back into working in the corporate sector. While Al s professional career seemed to be at its highest and lowest points, he was still void of something. Outside of work, his spiritual and inter-desire is to work for Christ Savior our Lord. At the age of ten, in the spring of 1970 Al, was saved, called as a child of God and baptized to serve in many ministries at St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church. Al singed in the youth choir, served on the youth usher board, altar boy, and supported other youth study programs while at St Luke prior leaving for college. In 1980, during Al's freshman and sophomore years in college, he served God in a different capacity by working at Christ Lutheran Church in North Miami as the church groundskeeper and custodian. There Al continued to learn and grow in his Christian faith by attending bible study of the Lutheran doctrine while continue to study the Baptist doctrine. Being a student, Al believed strongly in the benefit of reading systematic theologies, church histories, books on scriptural interpretation, and solidly biblical books on Christian living. In Al s later years of college and the start of his young professional career, Al was away from the church but never away from our Lord Jesus Christ. In 1994, Al moved his young family from Washington DC to Pittsburgh PA, to Fuquay Varina NC. Here in NC; he regained his burning desire to re-connect to the ministries, pick-up the cross and carry the blood-stained banner. He and his family were members of New Providence Baptist Church 1994-2009 and on numerous occasions attended Grace Fellowship Non-Denomination Church. In, 2010 Al and Gail were guided by God to move and share their talents, core Christian values, principles, visions, share the Gospel of Jesus Christ and Christian experience to fellow worshipers and colleagues at St Mary s Free Will Baptist Church. Since 2010, Bro. Gardner served in ministries at St Mary s in various capacities. Al has a passion for teaching the youth in evening bible study on how to apply the Word of God in their everyday lives. In a short period of time, Al was appointed Jr. Deacon, and administrator of the Deacon Ministry, serves as vice-chair on the Hospitality Ministry, Chair of the Men Ministry, a member of Church Leadership and Administration interviewer panel, frequent member of the adult bible study, and on occasion serves as the forerunner and offer shepherd s care to the Pastor during his speaking engagements.

Ordination Service When all have reached their places the congregation remains standing. The Congregation will remain standing as Pastor Elliott says: God calls His people to follow Christ, and commissions us to serve His people and declare the wonderful deeds of Him who has called us out of darkness into his marvelous light. God Himself has created particular offices to further the work of His ministries. Deacons are one of these offices, the Deacon is ordained to assist the Pastor, as guardians of the faith, and in proclaiming the gospel of God s kingdom. We give way to God s presence today as we ordain this newly appointed deacon. Pastor Elliott: Congregation: Blessed be the Lord Jesus Christ And blessed be His Kingdom, now and forever. Amen. Pastor Elliott: Almighty God unto whom all hearts are open, all desires known, and from you no secrets are hid: Cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by the inspiration of your Holy Spirit, that we may perfectly love you, and magnify your holy Name, through Christ Jesus our Lord. The Congregation may be seated. Reading of Biographical Profile Sister Belinda Brown Church Secretary St. Mary s O.F.W.B.C. Pastor Elliott: Who presents this individual for consideration? Deacon Donnie Cobb: To Pastor Coleman Elliott, President of the Cape Fear District Union, to Elder John Woods Vice President of the Cape Fear District Union, to the Ordination Council and to this great fellowship known as the Cape Fear District Union. I, Deacon Donnie Cobb, Chairman of the Deacon Ministry of St. Mary s Original Free Will Baptist Church at the direction of our Pastor, the leadership, and members of St. Mary s Original Free Will Baptist Church, trusting in the guidance of the Holy Spirit, do hereby present Brother Alfrado Gardner to be ordained to the office of deacon. Pastor Elliott: According to the wishes of St. Mary s Original Free Will Baptist Church, Brother Alfrado Gardner has been properly examined and having been found worthy of appointment to this scared office of Deacon, it now becomes our sacred duty to set him apart thereto by prayer and the imposition of hands. Scripture Readings: Elder JoAnn Yates Exodus 18:13-23 Elder Christine Norris Acts 6:1-6 Elder Reginald Hinton, Jr. 1 Timothy 3:8-13 (The Last Reader says- Here ends the Reading of God s Holy writ)

Elder Woods: With the ascension of the Lord Jesus Christ, the Chief Shepherd, the responsibility for the welfare of the Church was delegated to the under shepherds, the apostles. With great power gave the apostles witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus: and great grace was upon them all. Neither was there any among them that lacked: for as many as were possessors of lands or houses sold them, and brought the prices of the things that were sold, and laid them down at the apostles feet: and distribution was made unto every man according as he had need. Pastor Hunter: As the number of the disciples increased, murmuring was made against the Hebrews by the Grecians, because their widows were being neglected in the daily distribution of provisions. Understanding the importance of the effective ministry of the word of God, the apostles called the Church together and indicated that it was not good that they should leave the word of God and serve tables. The congregation was charged with the responsibility of identifying brethren among them who were of honest report, full of the Holy Ghost, who could be appointed to this important task. After the brethren were selected, they were brought before the apostles, who gave them the responsibility of the daily administration by praying and the laying on of hands. Pastor Hunter: It is the duty of the Deacon, at the discretion of the Pastor, to serve the Lord s table, to distribute the bounty of the Church among its needy members, to visit the sick, to assist the Pastor in promoting order and attendance upon the means of grace, to see that an efficient scriptural discipline be enforced in the Church. The Deacon must be by the Church considered a spiritual person, holding the mystery of the faith in a pure conscience, ruling well his own house. Examination of Deacon(s) Elect: Pastor Elliott: Brother, you have been called to an honorable, weighty and responsible office in the house of God: and now it devolves upon me to inquire respecting your purpose about the same. Do you believe in your heart that after being elected by your church family, the Lord Jesus Christ has prepared you for this weighty office? Answer: I do. Pastor Hunter: Do you heartily and truly accept the Holy Bible as the revelation of God, and will you accept it as the rule of your faith and the guide of your life? Answer: I do. Elder John Woods: Will you endeavor to faithfully discharge the duties of a deacon in every way to promote the interests of the Church, which has honored you by advancing you to this office? Answer: I Will. Elder Reginald Hinton, Jr.: Will you faithfully strive to assist your pastor and to maintain harmonious relations with all of the officers and members of your church? Answer: I Will.

Elder JoAnn Yates: Will you endeavor to promote peace and goodwill among all men, especially the membership of your Church? Answer: I Will. Elder Christine Norris: Will you do your best to pattern your life (and that of your family) in accordance with the teachings of Christ, so that you may be a wholesome example to all people? Answer: I Will. Pastor Willie Hunter: Will you in all things seek not your glory but the glory of the Lord Christ? Answer I will. Pastor Elliott: May the Lord by his grace uphold you in the service he lays upon you. Answer: Amen. Deacon s Declaration: I solemnly declare that I do believe the Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments to be the Word of God, and to contain all things necessary to salvation; and I accept the charge to be faithful to God, to my Pastor and to serve the members of Mount Pisgah Harnett with the Lord s help. The Ordination Prayer (All continue to be seated, while the Deacon-Elect kneel before the Elders to be anointed with oil in the name of the Lord.) A prayer will be offered with the laying on of hands by the Ordination Council and Select Clergy. Presentation of Ordination Certificate Pastor Elliott Presentation of Holy Bible Sister Gail Gardner Receive this Bible as the authority by which you will live your life and to assist in the ministration of His holy Sacraments. The New Deacon is then to be greeted by well wishers in the congregation, beginning with the Bishops, Ordination Panel, Spouse, Family, Ministers, and Church Deacons and members. Benediction

Praise the Lord! You have found favor with the Lord in receiving a promotion in Christian service. Your prayers, dedication and hard work have come to fruition. St. Mary s Free Will Baptist Church is delighted to share in this special moment. Know that nothing is impossible with God and He can take you as high as you desire to go. It is our prayer that your spiritual growth will continue as you seek direction for God's will for your life. Praise the Lord! Church Members ************************************************************* The office of a deacon demands a high level of commitment, a mature knowledge of the faith and dedication to fellowship and service. 1 Timothy 3:13 summarizes it best, For those who have served well as Deacons obtain for themselves a high standing and great confidence in the faith that is in Christ Jesus. May your service as deacon be one of the richest and most rewarding of your walk with the Lord. My prayer is that God will use you for His glory in all areas of your life. Elder Willie J. Hunter Jr. Senior Pastor I will praise you, O LORD, with all my heart; I will tell of all your wonders. I will be glad and rejoice in you; I will sing praise to your name, O Most High.
