CALVARY APOSTOLIC CHURCH, UPCI La Crosse, Wisconsin The Basic fundamental doctrine of this organization shall be the Bible standard of full salvation, which is repentance, baptism in water by immersion in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ for remission of sins, and baptism of the Holy Ghost with the initial sign of speaking with other tongues as the Spirit gives utterance. We shall endeavor to keep the unity of the Spirit until we all come into the unity of the faith, at the same time admonishing all brethren that they shall not contend for their different views to the disunity of the body. OUR CHURCH PURPOSE IS: That you might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God.(Colossians1:10) OUR CHURCH VISION IS: To remain a church of divine leadership and spiritual growth for all. TO MEET OUR VISION, OUR CHURCH GOALS ARE Faithfulness by all in: C A C Lifeline October 2011 Church Attendance Prayer Times Mid-Week Bible Study Leadership Training Sunday Personal Bible Reading Daily Outreach Joint Outreach Efforts Personal Prayer Time Giving to the Lord s Work If Jesus needed to pray, how can we do less?? And when he had sent the multitudes away, he went up into a mountains apart to pray: and when the evening was come, he was there alone: Calvary Apostolic Church Rufus M. HOW TO USE YOUR BIBLE The Anointed Ones "The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, To preach the acceptable year of the Lord" (Luke 4:18-19) Throughout scripture, when God chose a man to lead, he was anointed with oil. Jesus said, "The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me." Why were they anointed? Ancient kings and prophets and high priests were set apart to their work by anointing with oil, "And the LORD said unto him, Go, return on thy way to the wilderness of Damascus: and when thou comest, anoint Hazael to be king over Syria: And Jehu the son of Nimshi shalt thou anoint to be king over Israel: and Elisha the son of Shaphat of Abelmeholah shalt thou anoint to be prophet in thy room" (1 Kings 19:15-16). "Now the LORD had told Samuel in his ear a day before Saul came, saying, To morrow about this time I will send thee a man out of the land of Benjamin, and thou shalt anoint him to be captain over my people Israel, that he may save my people out of the hand of the Philistines: for I have looked upon my people, because their cry is come unto me" (1 Samuel 9:15-16). They were being consecrated to an office or religious service. This oil or ointment was made of various substances, and it was forbidden to imitate it. "And the LORD said unto Moses, Take unto thee sweet spices, stacte, and onycha, and galbanum; these sweet spices with pure frankincense: of each shall there be a like weight: And thou shalt make it a perfume, a confection after the art of the apothecary, tempered together, pure and holy: And thou shalt beat some of it very small, and When in sorrow Read John 14 When men fail you Read Psalm 27 When you have sinned Read Psalm 51 When you worry Read Matthew 6:19-34 When you are in danger Read Psalm 91 If you have the blues Read Psalm 34 When God seems far away Read Psalm 139 If you are discouraged Read Isaiah 40 If you are lonely or fearful Read Psalm 23 If you feel down and out Read Romans 8:39 When you want courage for your task Read Joshua 1 When the world seems bigger than God Read Psalm 90 When you want rest and peace Read Matthew 11:25-30 When leaving home for labor or travel..read Psalm 121; 107:23-31 If you get bitter or critical Read I Corinthians 13 If thinking of investments or returns Read Mark 10:17-31 For a great invitation a great opportunity Read Isaiah 55 ANSWER TO THE BOOKS OF THE BIBLE FROM PREVIOUS PAGE: I once made a remark about the hidden books of the Bible. It was a lulu, kept people looking so hard for facts, and for others it was a revelation. Some were in a jam, especially since the names were not capitalized, but the truth finally struck home to numbers of readers. To others it was a real job. We want it to be a most fascinating few moments for you. Yes, there will be some really easy ones to spot. Others may require judges to help them. I will quickly admit it usually takes a minister to find one of them, and there will be a loud lamentations when it is found. A little lady says she brews a cup of tea, so she can concentrate better. See how well you can compete. Relax now for there are really 16 names of the Bible in this story.

RecipeAPPLE PIE Pam Parker 2 9 pie double crusts ¾ cup sugar ¼ cup flour ½ teaspoon nutmeg ½ teaspoon cinnamon Dash of salt 6 cups thinly sliced tart apples 2 tablespoons butter Heat oven to 425. Mix all ingredients (except butter) together. Put into crust. Top with butter slices. Cover with top crust; put slits in top crust. Bake 35 minutes with aluminum foil around edges of crust. Remove foil and bake 15 minutes longer. put of it before the testimony in the tabernacle of the congregation, where I will meet with thee: it shall be unto you most holy. And as for the perfume which thou shalt make, ye shall not make to yourselves according to the composition thereof: it shall be unto thee holy for the LORD. Whosoever shall make like unto that, to smell thereto, shall even be cut off from his people" (Exodus 30:34-38). You can't imitate the Holy Ghost, which is the anointing. Those who were set apart to the work of God as king, prophet, or priest, were called the Lord s anointed. (See, 1Samuel 16:6; Psalms 84:9; Isaiah45:1). Jesus is called the Messiah, a Hebrew word signifying the Anointed, or the Christ, a Greek word signifying the same thing. So why was Jesus anointed? He said to preach the gospel to the poor; to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, to preach the acceptable year of the Lord. Today, when one is filled with the Holy Ghost, they too are anointed for the same purpose as Jesus. They are consecrated and set a part for the working of the Lord. Are you anointed? This month, we will focus on your purpose in the Kingdom. You won t want to miss a single Wednesday night Bible study. Pastor Parker Pass your favorite recipe on for others to enjoy. A SIMPLE PRAYER GUIDE... CAC Prayer times Into prayer!!! PRE-SERVICE PRAYER Sundays at 9:00 am GALS PRAYER 1st Tuesday of the month at 6:30 pm MEN S PRAYER 1st & 3rd Saturday of the month at 7:00 am If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. 2Chronicles 7:14 We can t presume to know what s best when we begin to pray; So we must ask, What honors God? Then seek His will and way. 1. Your thumb is nearest to you, so begin your prayers by praying for those closest to you. They are the easiest ones to remember. To pray for our loved ones is, as C.S. Lewis once said, "sweet duty." 2. The next finger is the pointing finger. Pray for those who teach, instruct and heal. This includes teachers, doctors, and ministers. They need support and wisdom for pointing others in the right direction. Keep them in your prayers. 3. The next finger is the tallest finger. It reminds us of our leaders. Pray for the President, leaders in business and industry, and administrators. These people shape our nation and guide public opinion. They need God's guidance. 4. The fourth finger is our ring finger. Surprising to many is the fact that this is our weakest finger, as any piano teacher will testify. It should remind us to pray for those who are weak, in trouble, or in pain. They need your prayers day and night. You cannot pray too much for them. 5. And, lastly, comes our little finger; the smallest finger of all. Which is where we should place ourselves in relation to God and others. Your pinkie should remind you to pray for yourself. By the time you have prayed for the other four groups, your own needs will be put into proper perspective and you will be able to pray for yourself more effectively. If God doesn t give us what we ask for, We can be sure that He has something far better! Remember to pray for ~ Our Military Our Missionaries Our Nation s Leaders Our Church Family 5th Sunday Dinner October 30th - Following Sunday s Chill-In Out! The Lord is my Pacesetter, I shall not rush, He makes me to stop and rest for quiet intervals; He provides me with images of stillness, which restores my serenity. He leads me in ways of efficiency, through calmness of mind, And His guidance brings peace. Even though I have a great many things to accomplish each day, I will not fret; for His presence is here, His timelessness, His all importance will keep me in balance. He prepares refreshment and renewal in the midst of my activity; By anointing my mind with His oils of tranquility. My cup of joyous energy overflows. Surely harmony and effectiveness shall be the fruits of my hours, For I shall walk in the pace of my Lord, And dwell in His House forever. The answer is on the inside-back page no peaking!!
