Bible Promises of Childbirth & Safe Pregnancy & Delivery By Dr. Dan Cheatham, www.devotional.net This booklet in its original form has traversed the United States for many years now and has been found in the funniest places. It's been reproduced repeatedly, passed from couple to couple, clinic to clinic, and church to church with ASTOUNDING results and glowing reports. To God Be the Glory! Our prayer is that tens of thousands of couples will print this booklet off the web, copy it, give it away to be copied again, and thus begin a chain reaction of CHILDBIRTH MIRACLES because of the power of God's Word and His Holy Spirit. God is still in the MIRACLE BUSINESS and God still desires GODLY OFFSPRING from His couples (Malachi 2:15). This area of your life is supremely important to God! OUR OWN STORY: These promises worked for Marilyn and me. Medical science said our chances were slim to none for having babies after our first daughter. Marilyn didn't even have monthly cycles. But by claiming these promises and standing upon them, we had one baby without Marilyn even having a monthly cycle beforehand... a miracle for sure! Then the other two babies we had by a combination of believing God's Word and using modern fertility medication... both on the first try of Perganol fertility shots, which is rare. Page 1 of 7
I. INTRODUCTION GOD'S WILL IS THAT EVERYONE WHO TRUSTS HIM BE ABLE TO HAVE CHILDREN! God specializes in opening the womb through prayer or by a combination of both prayer and medicine. God specializes in making His people "vigorous" in childbearing (Exodus 1:19 NIV). God is a good God. God is love. The Bible is copiously replete with examples of Divine help in childbearing, like Sarah, Rebekah, Manoah's wife, Hannah, and Elizabeth (Genesis 17: 15-21, Genesis 25:21, Judges 13, I Samuel 1:6-20, Luke 1: 5-25). Hebrews 11:11 says, "Through faith also Sarah herself received strength to conceive seed, and was delivered of a child when she was past age, because she judged Him faithful who had promised." But remember that BIBLE PROMISES don't just fall on you; they aren't automatic. First, God's Promises must be discovered and known. The Bible says that "My people perish for lack of knowledge." In other words, people fail to enjoy something that God wants them to have, all because they haven't yet discovered or found the scriptural provisions in the Bible that give them the knowledge and assurance that it rightfully belongs to them. Then, of course, once promises are found, they must be claimed in prayer to God. They must be believed. They must be appropriated and acted upon. They must be treasured by one as God's personal love letter and God's bond of integrity. God loves it when ordinary people like you and I take Him at His Word. God revels in a person who takes His promises at face value, hanging on every word that He has spoken. That's why I have included in this booklet - bold prayer confessions to speak aloud based upon each set of promises. Faith is simply agreeing with God; saying the same thing about your situation that He says! According to Romans 10:9, the way to get your faith into motion is to BELIEVE IN YOUR HEART and PROCLAIM WITH YOUR MOUTH! Here are six steps to successful childbirth: 1. Know Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior. (See XII Below) 2. Claim the Bible promises below in prayer. 3. Cooperate with your OB/GYN. He is a professional. 4. Receive total childbirth training from qualified personnel. (Most hospitals now sponsor a program.) 5. Memorize some of the Bible promises to recite to yourself whenever doubts or fear try to cloud your mind. 6. Practice wise health and fitness habits before, during, and after pregnancy. Page 2 of 7
II. GOD'S ORIGINAL COMMAND Genesis 1:28 (KJV): And God blessed them; and God said to them, be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth. Jeremiah 29:6 (KJV): Take wives and become the fathers of sons and daughters - multiply there and do not decrease. Psalm 127:3 (AMP): Behold children are a gift of the Lord; and the fruit of the womb is a reward. FAITH CONFESSION TO SPEAK ALOUD: God's plan is that we be fruitful and multiply. Therefore, it is wholesome and most natural that we desire to bear children in obedience to His command. III. PROMISES OF FERTILITY FOR THE WIFE Exodus 23:25, 26 (NIV): Worship the Lord your God and His blessing will be upon your food and water. I will take sickness from among you, and none will miscarry or be barren in your land. I will give you a full lifespan. FOR THE HUSBAND Psalm 112: 1,2 (KJV): Praise ye the Lord. Blessed is the man that feareth the Lord, that delighteth greatly in His commandments. HIS SEED SHALL BE MIGHTY upon earth. FOR BOTH Deuteronomy 7:14 (NIV): You will be blessed more than any other people; none of your men or women shall be childless. FAITH CONFESSION TO SPEAK ALOUD: According to God's Word, our seed is blessed, and our womb is fruitful. God sets us free from barrenness as we serve him. IV. PROMISES OF CONCEPTION Psalm 113:9 (NIV): He settles the barren woman in her home as a happy mother of children. Praise the Lord. Psalm 128:3 (KJV): Thy wife shall be as a fruitful vine by the sides of thine house: thy children like olive plants round thy table. Genesis 49:25 (NIV): Because of your father's God, who helps you, because of the Almighty, who blesses you with blessings of the breast and womb. Page 3 of 7
Deuteronomy 7:13 (NIV): He will love you and bless you and increase your numbers. He will bless the fruit of your womb. FAITH CONFESSION TO SPEAK ALOUD: God settles us and makes us happy parents of children. We relax and let God make us fruitful. God blesses my womb. Because of the promises, we believe we conceive in Jesus name. It is inevitable. From now on, we consider conception a done deal by the power of the Holy Spirit and on the authority of God's written Word. Now we're free to enjoy one another as we make love, without making it a project. Proverbs 21:31 (KJV) Safety is of the Lord. V. PROMISES OF A SAFE PREGNANCY Exodus 23:25, 26 (NIV): Worship the Lord your God and I will take sickness from among you, and none will miscarry. Psalm 91:9 (NIV): If you make the Most High your dwelling -- even the Lord, who is my refuge -- then no harm will befall you, no disaster will come near your tent. For He will command His angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways. FAITH CONFESSION TO SPEAK ALOUD: Because I worship the Lord Jesus, He takes sickness away from me and I will not miscarry. No harm will come to me or my baby because God guards me with his angels. My safety comes from the Lord. VI. PROMISES OF SAFE DELIVERY Proverbs 21:31 (KJV) safety is of the Lord. Isaiah 66:9 (NIV): Do I bring to the moment of birth and not give delivery? says the Lord. Psalm 22:9 (KJV): Yet you brought me out of the womb FAITH CONFESSION TO SPEAK ALOUD: In the name of Jesus, I trust God to give me a safe delivery. The Lord safely brings my baby out of the womb and I am kept safe also. Page 4 of 7
VII. PROMISES OF NO FEAR 2 Timothy 1:7 (KJV): For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. Isaiah 43:1-3 (KJV): Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name; thou art mine. When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee; when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt hot be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee. For I am the Lord thy God. Isaiah 41:10 (KJV): Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be thou not dismayed for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee, yea, I will help thee; yea I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness. John 12:15 (KJV): Fear not, daughter Mark 5:36 (KJV): Jesus saith Be not afraid, only believe. FAITH CONFESSION TO SPEAK ALOUD: In the name of Jesus Christ, I refuse to give in to worry and fear. God has not given me a spirit of fear. The Lord is with me and helping me from the beginning to the end. I will not be afraid; I will only believe God's Word. VIII. HOW TO BE BORN AGAIN Page 6 of 7 1. Accept God's Word: That He loves you and wants to give you an abundant life. (John 3:16). 2. Accept God's Word: That you are a sinner; that this separates you from God; that you must truly repent or turn away from sin. (Romans 3:23; 6:23; II Peter 3:9) 3. Accept God's Word: That the shed blood of Jesus is God's only provision for a man to get rid of sin. (I John 1:7; Romans 5:8)
4. Accept God's Word: That Jesus Christ is our only contact with God. (John 14:6; I Timothy 2:5) 5. Receive Jesus Christ as Saviour and Lord by your personal invitation. (John 1:12; Revelation 3:20) Pray This Prayer Aloud to God Father in heaven, I've heard your Word and I want to be born again. Cleanse me of my sins through the Blood of Jesus. I want to be a child of God. I give my life to You. Make me a new person. Jesus be my Lord and Saviour. Come into my life through the Holy Spirit and live on the throne of my heart. I believe I'm now born again because your Word says I am. Jesus is my Lord. Thank you for a new life. And Lord, because I care about my spiritual growth and this new relationship I have with You, I will quickly become an active member of a Bible believing church, and get water baptized as an outward sign of my inward commitment I have just made to You. In Jesus Name! Amen. Page 7 of 7
