Next Gen Worship Team Orientation Packet 2013-2014 Dear Worship Team Applicant/Parent: Welcome to the application process for our Next Gen Worship Team at 12Stone! The Next Gen Worship Team is based on the larger vision for Redemptive Arts and Next Gen Ministries at our church. We exist to lead others into the presence of God through the praise and worship of Jesus Christ. We are first and foremost servants; always seeking the greater good of the Body of Christ we are serving. We were all created for worship. Our most important purpose on this earth is to glorify God. One of the ways we can do that is through music. We are blessed to have the weekly opportunity to connect with our Heavenly Father and encounter Him with passion when we meet together! Worship is also lifestyle. As worship team members we personally invest in our relationship with God as well as lead others into a life filled with praise. It is our desire that each one of you will develop a closer and more intimate relationship with Jesus Christ through community and worship. Being a part of this team is a divine privilege. Our commitment to you is to love you, nurture you, lead you, teach you, challenge you, and guide you as you serve God and others should you be selected to be a part of this team. In the next few pages you will find an overview of our worship philosophy as well as C.R.U.D. (Commitments, Requirements, Understandings, and Dress Code) for all of our worship team students across all campuses. We appreciate you stepping out in faith and using the gifts and abilities God has placed in your life to serve Him and others. If you have any questions regarding this application, please do not hesitate to contact us!

Overview Vision: Our vision is to create a culture of Next Gen Servant Artists who are growing together spiritually, musically, and in leadership. Mission on a weekly basis: To create and execute a time of worship that is musically pleasing and spiritually worthy of our Heavenly Father. Definition of Worship: Worship is praising God for who He is and what He has done and saying YES to His great invitation. Interview/Audition Process Application: Each applicant must fill out an online worship team application. This is so we can get to know who you are, where you are in your relationship with Christ, your gifts and abilities, and what you are passionate about. https://12stone.wufoo.com/forms/student-worship-team-application/ Video: In the application we ask for a short video in order to initially assess your competency and abilities so we can best serve and develop you. Follow Up/Live Audition: Once we have the application and video, one of our Worship residents or staff members will set up a time to meet. During this follow up you may be asked to come to a rehearsal, play, or sing for them. Please come prepared if asked. The resident or staff member will give you feedback and suggest next steps for you. Next Steps & Selection: Unfortunately we are unable to work with every student who would like to be a part of the worship team. With our limited time and resources, we have to decide to narrow the pool down in order to give adequate time and attention to preparing our students for weekly playing and worship leading. We also recognize there are other opportunities for students to use their gifting outside of the worship team. Thank you for your understanding on the front end if you are not selected to participate on the team. This is why we take this commitment seriously for those who are selected to participate.

C.R.U.D. (Commitments, Requirements, Understandings, Dress Code) Next Gen Worship 1. Each sentence has a place for you, the student, to initial and for your parents to read and initial as well. 2. To play or sing on stage, you must have this CRUD form completely initialed, filled out, and turned in. 3. If at anytime CRUD is not followed, one of the Next Gen staff or residents will do their best to help you grow in this ministry. 4. Please know that your heart, character, and your relationship with Christ are most important to us!!! COMMITMENTS: My first commitment to this ministry is to have a daily growing personal relationship with Christ. o (If you don t have a relationship with Christ or understand what that means, we as a Next Gen Staff are here for you to help you in that Journey with Christ.) Because of my commitment to Christ, as a participant in Next Gen Worship, I must commit my life to live above reproach. I am committed to living above reproach in my dating relationships, not smoking, abstaining from drugs, not cheating, not drinking, no sexual activity of any kind, and anything that is not God honoring. I am committed to pursuing God with my life, which means my heart, my actions, and my life should honor Him, at church, with my friends, my classmates, my family, and in my Social Media World (IE: Facebook, Instagram, Vine, tweets, blogs, and any other form of social media) Because of my commitment to this ministry, I understand that I represent CHRIST, 12Stone Church, M12, H12, and C12 at all of our campuses. I understand that the Next Gen Worship Staff and Residents, the Next Gen Team, and the Staff of 12Stone Church care about me and that their first priority is to see me grow in Christ, to hold me accountable to these commitments, and to be a support for me. I understand that if I am not God honoring I will be asked to step down from Next Gen Worship for a period of time to work on my heart. WEEKLY COMMITMENTS I will connect with friends at each service and commit to serve at all others that I am playing at by greeting or meeting other students. On my assigned weeks, I will commit to help where needed by setting up and tearing down equipment, picking up trash, stacking chairs, and what ever is asked of me with a GREAT ATTITUDE.

REQUIREMENTS: WEEKLY REQUIRMENTS I am required to attend a M12, H12, or C12 service weekly. To not only come to a service when asked to play, but to attend and be a part of the ministry as a whole. This will help you own the ministry even more. I will attend and participate in a LIFE GROUP that is a part of M12, H12, or C12. I have and will maintain a GPA over 2.5 for the semester and not have any F s. (Honor System) I will attend all mandatory meetings, and workshops that are asked of me (Worship meetings, Virtuoso, and any other worship meetings). I will commit to participate in a service each weekend without being a distraction (whether I am playing or not) I will respond to all Planning Center invites in a timely manner. To be timely, I will respond to Planning Center invites no later than 2 weeks before request date. (Please confirm or deny all requests. If you can t play that is perfectly fine, we just need to know this in order to give someone else the opportunity to play in your place. No response is unacceptable.) REHEARSALS & RUN THROUGHS (EVERYONE) I will attend all required rehearsal and run throughs, unless an emergency comes up. If I cannot attend, I will call my leader at least 24 hours in advance. I understand that being late to practices or sound checks is not acceptable, and if I cause the team to start late more than 3 times, I will be asked to step out of the Worship Team for a period of time. RESPECT your peers and their time. I understand that the time given for practices is the start time or downbeat. I will not arrive at that time; I will come early to set-up my equipment and will be ready to play at start time (this includes ALL environments & campuses). Be early, set up, tuned, warmed up, and ready to start. I understand that, no matter who the worship leader is, I will not be offended when they decide what to do with a song or what to do with the parts of the song. I will be open to the suggestions and comments of the Worship Leaders or Vocal Directors. UNDERSTANDINGS: I understand that this is a ministry and not a HOBBY. I understand that I am here to serve and not be served. I understand the difference between leading worship and performing. I will be a team player. I understand that I will not cause conflicts in the body of Christ if something doesn t go my way, or else I will be asked to step down for a period of time. I will respect the opinions of others and encourage them. I understand the complexity of leading, and I will not be offended if I do not get to play or sing a certain number of times or play certain parts in a song. I understand that the perception standard is higher for band and vocalists. I will not show any PDA (Public Display of Affection) during the weekly or weekend services.

INSTRUMENTALISTS I understand that if I use any of the church s equipment I will need to put it back where I got it and how I found it. If I don t put things back I won t be allowed to use the equipment. I understand that the equipment that we use is God s equipment and I will take care of it. I understand that the equipment is not free rental to use for my own personal bands or home use. Bass, Acoustic, Electric Guitar players ONLY: I understand that I must be plugged into a tuner at all times. I understand that if I have any suggestions or comments about the way the band members are playing, I will speak to the worship leaders directly. I understand that if an Audio Tech or Producer makes a suggestion, I should listen because they can hear and see the whole house. THE SERVICE I understand that I must be ready to go on stage 2 minutes before start time. I understand that everyone needs to help clean up the stage before and after services (No leaving early). DRESS CODE: Ladies: Guys: Because of my position as a worship team member, I understand that my appearance must be tasteful and not take away or distract other students in worship. I won't draw attention to myself through my clothing choice. Therefore, I will adhere to the following: I will not wear any tops with spaghetti straps or tops that show my bra straps. I will have a modest neckline I will not wear clothes that are too tight I will wear clothes that cover my stomach and midriff If I wear a see-through or lacy blouse, I will make sure that I have full coverage underneath. I will wear dresses that fall below the middle of my thigh or just right above the KNEE (when in doubt don t wear it). I will not wear shorts. I will wear shirts that have sleeves and do not have holes in them. I will not wear deep v-necks that show off my manly chest hair (or lack there of). I will not wear shirts with offensive logos (alcohol, drugs, sex, etc ). I will not wear shorts.

STUDENT I, (student) understand the commitments, requirements, understandings, and dress code being a member of the 12Stone Next Gen Worship Team and the standards to which the leaders are holding me. I understand that at anytime I can be asked to step down for a period of time if CRUD is not followed. I understand that the most important factor in my life is my relationship with God. If at anytime it is hindered, I will step down from the worship team to make sure that my relationship with Him is first and foremost. I will serve, play, sing, live and rock for the audience of ONE JESUS. STUDENT SIGNATURE: Date: Home Phone Number: ( ) - Cell Phone Number: ( ) - Cell Phone company: Do you have texting?
