Welcome to Grace Lutheran Church! We give thanks that our gracious Lord Jesus Christ has gathered us together here for his Divine Service. Today again our Lord comes to serve us and lavish us with his gifts of life, forgiveness, and salvation. Rejoicing in those wonderful gifts, we sing with David in Psalm 84: How lovely is your dwelling place, O LORD of hosts! A day in your courts is better than a thousand elsewhere. Hearing, Ask an usher for one of the wireless hearing assistance units. Attendance Registration cards are located in the Hymnal racks of each pew. We ask all members and our guests to complete one and pass it to the center aisles. An usher will collect them after the offering is taken to the altar. The cards are important as they enable our secretary to track members attendance as well as guests interested in joining our church. Thank you for your help. THE MESSAGE PRESENTED BY THE CHILDREN The Story of Jesus Birth: Matthew 1:18-25 Now the birth of Jesus Christ took place in this way. When His mother Mary had been betrothed to Joseph, before they came together she was found to be with child from the Holy Spirit.... Behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to [Joseph] in a dream, saying, Joseph, son of David, do not fear to take Mary as your wife, for that which is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. She will bear a son, and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.... All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had spoken by the prophet: Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall call His name Immanuel (which means, God with us). When Joseph woke from sleep, he did as the angel of the Lord commanded him. And he called His name Jesus. Action Rhyme by the Children: Jesus was a Baby Boy Hymn: God Loves Me Dearly LSB 392, sts. 1, 3, 5 Children: 1. God loves me dearly, Grants me salvation, God loves me dearly, Loves even me. Congregational Hymn: Angels We Have Heard on High LSB 368 1 Angels we have heard on high, Sweetly singing o er the plains, And the mountains in reply, Echoing their joyous strains. Refrain Gloria in excelsis Deo. Gloria in excelsis Deo. 2 Shepherds, why this jubilee? Why your joyous strains prolong? What the gladsome tidings be Which inspire your heav nly song? Refrain 3 Come to Bethlehem and see Him whose birth the angels sing; Come, adore on bended knee Christ the Lord, the newborn King. Refrain 3

Action Rhyme by the Children: Little Baby Jesus Hymn: Away in a Manger LSB 364 Children 1. Away in a manger, no crib for a bed, The little Lord Jesus laid down His sweet head. The stars in the [bright] sky looked down where He lay, The little Lord Jesus asleep on the hay. All 2. The cattle are lowing, the baby awakes, But little Lord Jesus, no crying He makes. I love Thee, Lord Jesus! Look down from the sky, And stay by my cradle till morning is nigh. 3. Be near me, Lord Jesus; I ask thee to stay Close by me forever and love me, I pray. Bless all the dear children in Thy tender care, And take us to heaven to live with Thee there. Christmas Poem and Reading from Isaiah 9:6 Responsive Reading P To us C A Child is born! P To us C A Son is given! P This Christmas, we receive C The blessed gift of heaven! Congregational Hymn: What Child Is This LSB 370 1. What child is this, who, laid to rest, On Mary s lap is sleeping? Whom angels greet with anthems sweet While shepherds watch are keeping? This, this is Christ the king, Whom shepherds guard and angels sing; Haste, haste to bring Him laud, The babe, the son of Mary! 2. Why lies He in such mean estate Where ox and ass are feeding? Good Christian, fear; for sinners here The silent Word is pleading. Nails, spear shall pierce Him through, The cross be borne for me, for you; Hail, hail the Word made flesh, The babe, the son of Mary! 4 3. So bring Him incense, gold, and myrrh; Come, peasant, king, to own Him. The King of kings salvation brings; Let loving hearts enthrone Him. Raise, raise the song on high, The virgin sings her lullaby; Joy, joy, for Christ is born, The babe, the son of Mary!
