We ve raised a significant amount in a short time. The fire suppression system is currently being installed. Our present fund amount of $314,285.13 will cover this system. Depending on the final bill for the fire suppression, we have approximately $238,715 more to raise to support the HVAC. The committee recognizes that not every church member can afford to give generously it s impossible sometimes; we would like you to give as you can. Confirmation Class to Begin Confirmation Class for the 8 th Graders will begin on Wednesday, September 14 th. The class will meet each week from 6:00-7:00 p.m. in the UYMF carpeted room downstairs. Make plans to join us this year and begin a great year of faith growth! Please join the REMIND group for UMYF/ Confirmation by texting to 81010 the message @umyfsu this will allow us to send remind messages, updates, and notes of encouragement to all students. UMYF Middle School Grades 5th -8th will begin meeting weekly on Wednesday, September 7th from 7-8p.m. in the UMYF carpeted room downstairs. Justin & Tammy Salyer are the leaders for this year and look forward to meeting everyone soon! What s new in Sunday School? Sunday Seven Singers! Starting September 11th, the first seven minutes of each class will begin with singing together, grades K-8. We will then sing our first song on Sunday, September 25 at the 10:30 service. This is the UMW Thank Offering Service and will be a wonderful addition to the service. In October our seven minutes of music will begin our Christmas Music for the All Sunday School Music Program, which will be held December 11th at both services. Save the date. Cindy Mavis & JoEllen Axthelm New Sr. High Sunday School Join us each week from 9:30-10:15a.m. on Sunday in the big tiled room downstairs for time to learn, grow, fellowship, pray, and spend time with our church family. Sr. High students meet weekly on Wednesday Nights with their Godparent groups. We will meet each month on the Second Sunday from 6-7:30p.m. Pastor Robert & JoEllen will facilitate the G2 gatherings each month, with the help of Godparents and other adults in our church family. September will be our first G2 Gathering on Sunday, September 11th from 6-7:30 for the Bananaganza! Come to have some fun on a scavenger hunt (involves bananas) and a sweet treat! Beth Moore Simulcast SUMC is hosting a Beth Moore Simulcast on Saturday, September 17 th from 9-4:30 in the church building. We appreciate the generous support of the simulcast from the SUMC Foundation! This day is open to everyone invite your neighbors, co-workers, friends, family, etc. We have a new bulletin board in the main hallway, by the sanctuary, and have added a packet with flyers so that you can take one or more to share. Please register and complete payment as soon as possible, prior to Sept. 14 th, so that we will have accurate numbers for the day. A $15 registration fee includes tax, a catered luncheon, snacks, listening guide, and a goodie bag. Beth is a leading women s ministry speaker and you are sure to enjoy a day of Bible Study and worship led by her and Travis Cottrell. Having heard her in person, several times, and going to simulcasts for the past four years, I know you are in for a real treat. We hope you can join us and make plans for a day of fabulousness! Mission Team for the Lakota People Pine Ridge Reservation, SD We are working to gather an intergenerational team to head back to serve the Lakota People, through Re-Member, next summer. We are partnering again with Faith Lutheran Church and will begin hosting monthly meetings to work on fundraising and planning this mission trip. Please join us at the Sunday, September 18 th gathering at 6p.m. in the church Parlor to learn more details about the trip, ask more questions, and begin to help with the planning/fundraising phase of the year. We welcome all people ages 13 and UP all can serve Jesus on this trip and we look forward to seeing you at the gathering! The whole group at the home base of Re-Member. A work site station. Jo Ellen used just these simple tools to help put together skirting for a trailer. Many others worked on other parts on the skirting to make frames, dig trenches, and assemble these parts into one whole project. The beautiful SD landscape. We learned much about the Lakota people and their lives while serving them.

Come and join the Chancel Choir or the Bell Choir! Chancel Choir has begun and meets Wednesdays in the Fellowship Hall from 6:30-7:15. Bell Choir is starting up on Wednesday, September 7th from 7:15-8:00 p.m. in the balcony of the church. All groups enter through the back church door. The front door remains locked after 3:00 Crossfire Members (Grades 5-8 Middle School Praise Team) Students that are grades 5-8 will be receiving a letter next week with information and practice times for the fall season. Cindy Mavis God s Squad will be starting up this Fall. A letter will go out to all Kindergarten through 4th graders to see who would like to sing, as soon as we have more information. We are looking for someone who would be interested in the position of God s Squad Director. It would only be during the school year. If interested, please contact Cindy Butzke at 402-643-5979. Thank you for you thoughtfulness of having the recent law enforcement appreciation luncheon. The idea to do this was fantastic. It reminded us of the reasons to be proud to be a police officer, especially Seward Police Officers, where we are appreciated and thanked. All of Seward PD officers in attendance thought it was great and the other ones unable to attend also enjoyed the meal at the PD you provided.
