We are Perry Nazarene Go and make disciples. - Jesus At its core, the church is the community of disciples of Jesus. A disciple is a follower of Jesus a person who desires to learn from and be changed by Jesus Christ. Here, at Perry Church of the Nazarene, we are simply a community of people who desire to have Jesus at our center to lead, inspire and empower us to live as He did. We become a disciple the moment we accept Christ as our Savior. From then on, we embark on a journey of constant learning, growing and changing into the image of Christ. This journey requires us to make Jesus the center of our lives by attending to our personal spiritual growth and by participating in the community of disciples. Both are critical to our growth as a disciple. Through Celebration, Connection and Care we journey together in our pursuit of Christlikeness. Celebration: the joining together in worship as we praise and honor our resurrected Lord who triumphed over sin and death. Connection: the coming together in fellowship and study to grow deeply together into the image of Christ. Care: the way we serve Christ, each other and the world. We believe these three steps of the journey are all integrated and vital to the life of a disciple and our community. If we don t engage in all three, we miss out on the abundant life Jesus promised us. We believe God has uniquely created each of us and gifted us to play an important role both in the life of the church and in reaching our world with the love of Christ. We need you that we might be who God has called us to be. This catalog is meant to provide you with information about opportunities to engage in Celebration, Connection and Care. Take time to prayerfully consider these as you seek to take your next step in the journey.

Celebrate with Us Sunday Worship Sundays (Weekly) 9:00am or 11:00am Worship is the foundation of our lives as disciples. Sunday is the Lord s day. It is resurrection day, the celebration of the risen Lord. Each Sunday, we give praise and honor to the one who defeated sin, death and evil. His victory is our victory and so we lift our voices in praise and honor to him. We believe in the value of intergenerational worship and welcome families to worship together. However, we also realize that children grow spiritually when they can be in a worship service geared to them so we offer children s worship on Sunday mornings for children up to 6th grade. Below is our Sunday morning schedule. 9:00am Early Worship Preschool Worship (2 years Kindergarten) Nursery (infants 2 years) 10:00am Discipleship Classes (for all ages) 11:00am Morning Worship Children s Church (1st 6th grade) Preschool Worship (2 years Kindergarten) Nursery (infants 2 years) Wednesday Evening Meal Wednesdays (Weekly) 6:00pm Fellowship Hall We start our mid-week services with a family style meal at 6:00pm. Our cooks prepare a hot and delicious meal where we gather around the table week after week and share time with one another. Community forms as people catch up each week, sharing about their families, their work, their joys and their struggles before heading off to Bible study. Cost is $4 a person or $12 for a family of three or more.

Connect with Each Other Three adult Sunday School classes are offered every Sunday morning throughout the year. Each class session stands alone and participants are encouraged to join at any time. LOGOS Class Sundays (Weekly) 10:00am Room 207 Logos class topics for this fall include a look at God s calling on the Israelites and exploration of holiness. All are welcome. A student handbook is provided so that readings and preparation may be done during the week. Class discussion is vital so that we may learn from each other what the Holy Spirit has revealed through our individual study. Mountain Movers Sundays (Weekly) 10:00am Room 206 This fall we will study a book by Mark Batterson called If. If -- that tiny two-letter word is the hinge on the door of possibilities. Some of us are stuck in if only, living lives marked by regret. But God can turn your if only regrets into a what if attitude, a faith that looks forward to the future with holy confidence. There are 1,784 ifs in the Bible. The most significant? If God is for us, who can be against us? It s the game changer! God is always on our side every day, in every way. MissioLife Sundays (Weekly) 10:00am Room 202/203 MissioLife is a class focused on missional living leading followers through the path of spiritual formation, from Scripture to a way of life. This fall, we are studying the book of Romans. Our class includes people who like to talk in discussion and people who prefer to be quiet and soak in the discussion around them. Our fellowship includes people new in their Christian walk and those who ve been walking with Jesus ever since they can remember. Wherever you find yourself, there s a place for you to come, learn scripture and apply it to your life.

Connect with Each Other GROWTH GROUPS Whether this is your first Sunday or you ve grown up in church, we all have questions about God and faith. We don t want you to leave with those questions unanswered. Our growth groups, described below, are a series of short-term consecutive classes that will help you set the foundation of your faith. Christianity 101 (Starting November 4) Sundays (Weekly) 10:00am Room 204 This eight-session examination will help students feel confident in knowing the basics of the Christian faith. We ll examine who God is, who Jesus is, where the Bible came from, the purpose of the Holy Spirit, the role of the church and many others. Promises Kept The Whole Story of the Bible (Winter 2019) Sundays (Weekly) 10:00am Room 204 This 12-session class will introduce you to the promises God made in the Bible and how He kept those promises. We ll cover some basic questions about the creation of the Bible; God s overarching story line in the Bible; and narrow in on some specific events and people in the Bible. This will be a rapid tour from creation to the promises of the future. The class is open to everyone including those who have never picked up a Bible before and those who have read the Bible from cover to cover. Spirit Filled Life (Spring 2019) Sundays (Weekly) 10:00am Room 204 Living in the power of the Spirit is the key to finding the abundant and victorious life that Jesus offers. This class will help us learn who the Holy Spirit is and how to live in the power of the Spirit.

Connect with Each Other GriefShare (starting September 5) Wednesdays (Weekly) 6:30-8:30pm Room 202/203 GriefShare is a 14-week faith based program utilizing a threepronged approach to healing from loss. Each week there is a DVD featuring specialists in grief counseling. There is a weekly workbook component and also time to share in a support group setting. The weeks are separated into three thematic categories: comfort, answers, hope. While it s ideal for group members to attend all 14 sessions, each weekly session is designed to be open, meaning a person can begin attending at any time. Members will find comfort, answers, and hope in every session. Grief Share Hope for the Holidays Seminar will be offered on Sunday, November 18th from 5-7:30pm. Financial Peace University (starting Sep 13) Thursdays (Weekly) 7:00-8:30pm Room 201 Financial Peace University is a nine-lesson, money-management class taught by America's most trusted financial guru, Dave Ramsey. Dave and his teaching team will walk you through the basics of budgeting, dumping debt, planning for the future, and much more. And now you can experience this life-changing class with other people at our own Perry Nazarene! Call the church office to register. Cancer Support Group Second Monday of Month 7:00pm Fellowship Hall Caring cancer survivors meet monthly to listen and discuss the challenges of living with cancer. Whether facing a cancer diagnosis yourself or caring for someone with cancer, everyone is welcome. PrimeTime Meetings Tuesdays (Monthly) 12:00pm Fellowship Hall PrimeTime ministry is for adults, age 50 and better, who enjoy fellowship in the Lord. We meet monthly for a potluck and a time of fellowship. Often we have special guest speakers and musicians. Everyone is welcome. Sep 25 Oct 30 Nov 29

Connect with Each Other Men s Bible Study (starting September 5) Wednesdays (Weekly) 7:00pm Sanctuary 33, The Series In this world where too many men behave badly, our world desperately needs better men. This six week study will teach what it means to live a life that models the life of Jesus. The Explicit Gospel Our second study this fall is The Explicit Gospel. The gospel of Jesus Christ is the greatest news ever proclaimed. Yet many believers have a limited grasp of the power of the gospel beyond salvation experience. Matt Chandler will challenge us in this series to rely on the gospel to grow into Christlikeness, to persevere in our faither, and to serve others in the power of Jesus Christ. Men s Breakfasts Each month, men s ministries meets for breakfast on a Saturday morning at 8am in Heritage Hall. We encourage all men to join us for good food, great fellowship and relevant teaching. Dates for breakfast this fall are: Saturday, Sep 15 at 8am Saturday, Oct 20 at 8am Saturday, Nov 17 at 8am Saturday, Dec 15 at 8am

Connect with Each Other Women s Bible Study (starting September 5) Wednesdays (Weekly) 7:00pm Room 207 We look at ourselves, with our immaturity, our sinfulness, and we want to clothe ourselves in something better holiness. We want to be just like Jesus. This seems like an impossible goal until we accept one simple truth: God loves us. And not only does God love each of us exactly as we are, he wants us, little by little, to become like him. He doesn t love us and leave us alone; he loves us enough to live within us, making our hearts his home. But doing so requires a bit of sprucing up, remodeling, refurnishing. Why? Because he wants us to have a heart like his. This fall, we will explore how to open ourselves up to the Spirit s work to shape us into the image of Christ. Based on the book, Just Like Jesus by Max Lucado, we will explore scripture, learn about spiritual disciplines and discuss in community the work God is doing on our heart. Women s Small Group (starting September 17) Mondays (Weekly) 2:00pm-3:30pm Room 202/203 Our women s small group meets weekly on Mondays at 2:00 and women are welcome to join the group. Beginning September 17th, we ll engage in a six-week study of Philippians by Karol Ladd called A Woman s Passionate Pursuit of God. Do you want to learn to live intentionally as you face life s daily challenges? Do you want help in falling deeply in love with Jesus Christ? Do you want to understand God s Word and His plans for our lives? Do you want to say more and more, Father, I want what You want? Then this study is for you. Topics include: 1) Pardon my progress 2) Living life with passion 3) The delicious flavor of humble pie 4) Press on 5) Dealing with difficult people and circumstances in a positive way 6) The key to true contentment

Youth Group Wednesdays (Weekly) 6:30pm Lower Level Every Wednesday night at 6:30 in the lower level, students in 7 th 12 th grade come together for youth group. We join with our youth group family for fun and fellowship as we worship and learn together how to be open and honest with each other, seeking to become fearless disciples of Christ. Sunday School Sundays (Weekly) 10:00am Lower Level Weekly Bible study for students in 7th 12th grade. Come discuss and learn how we apply God s word to our lives in practical ways. This fall, we ll prepare for our Christmas program in December with a devotional, program practice and prayer time. Right @ Home Every month this school year, our Real Life Youth Group is going to meet right in someone's home for a night of snacks, fellowship and activities. These will be times for simple fellowship and fun. Check the bulletin each month so you can join us and strengthen the bonds of friendship with other students in our youth ministry!

Care for Others As Christ came to serve, we are sent to serve. We are the hands and feet of Christ, serving and going where he calls us to go. Each of us have been gifted for the sake of the body. As we grow with Christ, we learn how God has gifted us and can use those gifts to serve the body. The church office works with individuals to determine how their gifts and passions intersect with the needs of the body. We also offer careful screening and training to equip volunteers for success. The following are some of the volunteer job titles available in various areas of service in the church. If you are interested in learning more about these opportunities or other opportunities to serve, please contact the church office.
