St. Peter Kingdom Concept: We glorify God by building healthy relationships with God, with one another, and with our community following the example of Jesus Christ. GATHERING PRELUDE COMMUNITY CONVERSATION & PRAYER REQUESTS THANKSGIVING FOR BAPTISM P: Blessed be the holy Trinity, one God, the fountain of living water, the rock who gave us birth, our light and our salvation. C: Amen. P: Joined to Christ in the waters of baptism, we are clothed with God's mercy and forgiveness. Let us give thanks for the gift of baptism. P: We give you thanks, O God, for in the beginning your Spirit moved over the waters and by your Word you created the world, calling forth life in which you took delight. Through the waters of the flood you delivered Noah and his family. Through the sea you led your people Israel from slavery into freedom. At the river your Son was baptized by John and anointed with the Holy Spirit. By water and your Word you claim us as daughters and sons, making us heirs of your promise and servants of all. We praise you for the gift of water that sustains life, and above all we praise you for the gift of new life in Jesus Christ. Shower us with your Spirit, and renew our lives with your forgiveness, grace, and love. To you be given honor and praise through Jesus Christ our Lord in the unity of the Holy Spirit, now and forever. C: Amen. OPENING HYMN Waterlife ELW # 457 (Red Hymnal) 3

GREETING P: The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all. C: And also with you. KYRIE Kyrie Eleison 4

HYMN OF PRAISE Lord, I Lift Your Name on High 6

PRAYER OF THE DAY P: Let us pray. Almighty God, C: you anointed Jesus at his baptism with the Holy Spirit and revealed him as your beloved Son. Keep all who are born of water and the Spirit faithful in your service, that we may rejoice to be called children of God, through Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen. WORD FIRST LESSON Isaiah 43:1-7 1 But now thus says the LORD, he who created you, O Jacob, he who formed you, O Israel: Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are mine. 2 When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you. 3 For I am the LORD your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior. I give Egypt as your ransom, Ethiopia and Seba in exchange for you. 4 Because you are precious in my sight, and honored, and I love you, I give people in return for you, nations in exchange for your life. 5 Do not fear, for I am with you; I will bring your offspring from the east, and from the west I will gather you; 6 I will say to the north, Give them up, and to the south, Do not withhold; bring my sons from far away and my daughters from the end of the earth 7 everyone who is called by my name, whom I created for my glory, whom I formed and made. Word of God, word of life. C: Thanks be to God. 7

SECOND LESSON Acts 8:14-17 14 Now when the apostles at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had accepted the word of God, they sent Peter and John to them. 15 The two went down and prayed for them that they might receive the Holy Spirit 16 (for as yet the Spirit had not come upon any of them; they had only been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus). 17 Then Peter and John laid their hands on them, and they received the Holy Spirit. Word of God, word of life. C: Thanks be to God. CHILDREN'S MOMENT Carol Witt GOSPEL ACCLAMATION God Will Make a Way 8

GOSPEL Luke 3:15-17, 21-22 P: The holy gospel according to Luke the third chapter. C: Glory to you, O Lord. P: 15 As the people were filled with expectation, and all were questioning in their hearts concerning John, whether he might be the Messiah, 16 John answered all of them by saying, I baptize you with water; but one who is more powerful than I is coming; I am not worthy to untie the thong of his sandals. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire. 17 His winnowing fork is in his hand, to clear his threshing floor and to gather the wheat into his granary; but the chaff he will burn with unquenchable fire. 21 Now when all the people were baptized, and when Jesus also had been baptized and was praying, the heaven was opened, 22 and the Holy Spirit descended upon him in bodily form like a dove. And a voice came from heaven, You are my Son, the Beloved; with you I am well pleased. This is the gospel of the Lord. C: Praise to you, O Christ. 9

GOSPEL ACCLAMATION God Will Make a Way See page 8 SERMON HYMN OF THE DAY Song Over the Waters Pastor Kristin Berglund 10

APOSTLES' CREED P: With the whole church, let us confess our faith. C: I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, God s only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again; he ascended into heaven, he is seated at the right hand of the Father, and he will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen. THE PRAYERS (Time for silent prayer & meditation See Yellow Prayer Sheet) AM: Lord, in your mercy, C: hear our prayer. MEAL THE PEACE P: The peace of Christ be with you always. C: And also with you. THE OFFERING I Offer My Life See page 15 OFFERTORY PRAYER AM: Let us pray. Merciful God, C: as grains of wheat scattered upon the hills were gathered together to become one bread, so let your church be gathered together from the ends of the earth into your kingdom, for yours is the glory through Jesus Christ, now and forever. Amen. 11

SACRAMENT OF HOLY COMMUNION P: The Lord be with you. C: And also with you. P: Lift up your hearts. C: We lift them to the Lord. P: Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. C: It is right to give our thanks and praise. P: It is indeed right, our duty and our joy, that we should at all times and in all places give thanks and praise to you, almighty and merciful God, through our Savior Jesus Christ. Sharing our life, he lived among us to reveal your glory and love, that our darkness should give way to his own brilliant light. P: In the night in which he was betrayed, our Lord Jesus took bread, and gave thanks; broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying: Take and eat; this is my body, given for you. Do this for the remembrance of me. Again, after supper, he took the cup, gave thanks, and gave it for all to drink, saying: This cup is the new covenant in my blood, shed for you and for all people for the forgiveness of sin. Do this for the remembrance of me. P: Let us proclaim the mystery of faith: C: Christ has died. Christ is risen. Christ will come again. P: With this bread and cup we remember your Word dwelling among us, full of grace and truth. We remember our new birth in his death and resurrection. We look with hope for his coming. C: Come, Lord Jesus. P: Holy God, we long for your Spirit. Come among us. Bless this meal. May your Word take flesh in us. Awaken your people. Fill us with your light. Bring the gift of peace on earth. C: Come, Holy Spirit. 12

P: All praise and glory are yours, Holy One of Israel, Word of God incarnate, Power of the Most High, one God, now and forever. C: Amen. THE LORD'S PRAYER P: Gathered into one by the Holy Spirit, let us pray as Jesus taught us. Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Save us from the time of trial and deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours, now and forever. Amen. INVITATION TO COMMUNION P: Come to the table. Feast on God s abundant life for you. (United in our shared baptism, we gather at Christ s table. We believe that our Lord Jesus Christ is truly present in the bread and wine of Holy Communion, bringing to us the gift of forgiveness and the promise of eternal life. Please come forward via the side aisles and receive the bread. After you receive the bread, you may choose an individual glass of red wine or white grape juice. A chalice of wine is available in the center for those who wish to drink from a common cup. You may return to your pew via the center aisle. If you do not desire to receive communion, you may come forward for a blessing or remain seated.) COMMUNION HYMNS A Simple Word of Grace See page 17 Come and See See page 19 POST COMMUNION PRAYER P: The body and blood of our Lord Jesus Christ strengthen you and keep you in his grace. C: Amen. 13

AM: Let us pray. We thank you, O God, that you have fed us at your banqueting table with bread and wine beyond compare, the very life of Christ for us. Send your Spirit with us now, that we may set the captive free, use your gifts to build one another up, and in everything reflect your glory revealed in Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord. C: Amen. SENDING BLESSING P: God Almighty send you light and truth to keep you all the days of your life. The hand of God protect you; the holy angels accompany you; and the blessing of almighty God, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, be with you now and forever. C: Amen.
