From the West My Brothers All, The highlight of the month of March was our annual Spring Picnic on the 21st. A good time was had by all. A special thank-you is extended to all of our Ladies and Brothers who worked so hard to plan, cook and set-up. We also had the unique opportunity to hold our March 25th SC at Englewood Lodge due to the fact that some "body" had to use our usual space at the Farley funeral home where we normally meet. May he or she rest in peace. You know what we always say; at North Port No. 406 F&AM we can raise 'em and plant 'em! Speaking of bodies, Brother Lee continues to work with our EA's and we all are preparing for the Fellowcraft Degree on April 22nd at our Stated Communication at 7pm. I will preside in the East and Brother Bret Borgersen, our world travelling worker, will literally be travelling from the west to the east to be passed to this Degree. We'll be in the "big room" at Farley's so come on down and join us. There is room for all Master Masons and Fellowcrafts to attend. The Degree Team will rehearse on April the 7th, 14th and 21st (all Tuesdays) at 7pm at Bro. Sam's and on Wednesday, April 15th at Farley's at 7pm. So, come to the Lodge in April. There are many good things going on, not the least of which is the aforementioned Fellowcraft Degree and the arrival of this year's proposed legislation for our Grand Communication in May. Also, Brother Lou Ortt is presenting Masonic education on the prayers in the Three Degrees and it is a great presentation. Thank you W:. Ortt. An informed Mason is an involved Mason. Fraternally, On the Level, Robert Moschini, SW Masonic Inspiration THE ACACIA by William R. Fischer The Acacia tree is found in the aria known as Palestine during ancient times, today it is found all over Africa. Acacia looks like the mulberry tree, can grow to well over one hundred feet high and is a hard wood. The gum obtained from it is known as Arabic. Acacia is a sacred Hebrew wood known in the scripture as "Shittah." The ark of the covenant was made from it. Acacia is part of our initiation as Master Masons and represents the immortality of the soul, as the soul lives on after our bodies have been put to rest. Acacia can be a bush, tree, or a grove of trees. If you cut it down it grows back, if you burn it, it grows back. If you try to dig it up and leave one root it will grow back. Acacia can live through floods, droughts, and bad soil conditions. There is little doubt to the reason Acacia is our symbol of immortality.

From the South Happy Easter to all my brethren and there family. Remember stated meetings are on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday. There well be a officers meeting on the 14 this month. Looking forward too seeing everyone at the meetings. Fraternally, Michael Short, JW We meet on the level, my Brothers and me, We encourage good men into our society. If their actions be upright and always true, If we see integrity in all that they do. If they seek more light and value truth, If their own insights desire proof. we will offer them our right hand, And welcome them from any land. For we judge on character not creed, Nor on religion or wealth, but deed. We'll meet them on the level, my Brothers and me, And accept them as a Mason, ancient and free. We Meet on the Level Masonic Education THE GRAND LODGE Grand Lodge is the great source of power in the Craft. It has legislative, administrative, and executive jurisdiction over all matters pertaining to the Fraternity. Our Masonic traditions are in its keeping. It is only right that our respect for its Officers be shown by adhering to certain rules of etiquette necessary to maintain that respect and this etiquette must be punctiliously observed. Grand Honors are symbols of that honor and respect. Talking, promiscuous moving about the room, failure to address the Grand Master, or to use his proper title when speaking, are all violations of common courtesy and gentlemanly conduct. In an assemblage numbering hundreds, it is essential that these rules be strictly adhered to in order that business coming before Grand Lodge be dispatched with promptness and in a dignified manner. Not only are all these rules relating to decorum applicable to Grand Lodge, but they might well be taken seriously by our Lodges, in which decorum is sometimes conspicuous by its absence.

Sickness and Distress Brethren we have a number of those who could use your appeal to the Great Architect of the Universe. Brethren please keep all those who truly need your prayers, in your thoughts. May God bless and watch over us all until we meet again. Follow Us Online North Port Masonic Lodge No. 406.. North Port Lodge No. 406 Sponsored Masonic Youth Organizations Lord Baden-Powell, the founder of Scouting, said: "The secret of sound education is to get each pupil to learn for himself, instead of instructing him by driving knowledge into him on a stereotyped system. Scouting is not an abstruse or difficult science: rather it is a jolly game if you take it in the right light. In the same time it is educative, and (like Mercy) it is apt to benefit him that giveth as well as him that receives. Think of Baden-Powell's words and how they can apply to each of us.
