To Love and Forgive From the Heart-The Message of a Living Saint Dear Friends in Christ, I want to thank all those who attended and contributed to the success of our evening with Immaculee Ilibagiza back on August 3 rd. In particular, I want to thank our wonderful staff liaison for this event, Becky Drinks, along with parishioners Frederick Fonlon and Kathleen Narango. I also want to thank the Knights of Columbus for helping with parking and Mary Katherine Bondura for organizing the reception following Immaculee s presentation. Finally, I want to thank the members of the African Catholic Community of St. Joseph for promoting and supporting this evening with such love and conviction. If you would like to view a short video from the event with Immaculee, you can do so at our parish website. I want to thank Francesca Cerquetti who shot the video and produced this video along with her mother Rena Cerquetti who took the photographs for the video. This parish is oozing with talent- at the service of the Lord. For this, I am most grateful! If you watch the video, you will hear Immaculee say that the genocide that occurred in Rwanda back in 1994 was due to the fact that the people of her country failed to love each other. Immaculee also says in the video that she came to forgive those who murdered her family-that forgiveness is possible for everyone-and that forgiveness is the key to peace. I say Immaculee is a living saint because she was able to face the murderer of her parents and brother in jail, and forgive the perpetrator-from her heart. How hard it is for us to forgive even the smallest slights. When we fail to forgive, we fail to love as we should. When we fail to love as we should, the world around us breaks-down. My prayer, beginning with myself, is that each and every one of us will learn to love and forgive through the grace of Jesus Christ. I believe this evening with Immaculee Ilibagiza is the beginning of something transformative for our parish. May this renewal in our parish begin with each and every one of us-loving and forgiving-from the heart. In Christ

ADVERTISE Call: 410-578-3600 for more information Excerpt from Fr. Joe Breighner s More Reflections Along A Country Road Good Example The most effective way we share our scriptures, our understanding of the sacraments, our prayer life and our image of God, is by how we live. As someone has profoundly put it, People may not always believe what you say, but they will always believe what you do. So our effort is to live as Jesus asked us to live when He gave the criteria for entering the kingdom of God, I was hungry and you fed me; thirsty and you gave me something to drink; naked and you clothed me; in prison and you visited me; a stranger and you took me in Put simply, the best way to show our belief in God is To Order A Copy of Fr. Joe Breighner s Book through the sermon of our lives. Send $10.00 plus $4.50 for postage & handling to When we treat the least person the way we treat God, FATA P.O. Box 4889 Baltimore, MD 21211 then we become believable and God becomes visible.
