PRELUDE United Methodist Church of Antioch Easter Sunday March 27, 2016 8:00 & 10:30 am ANNOUNCEMENTS * PASSING OF THE PEACE *EASTER HYMN Christ the Lord is Risen #302 vv.1-4 red *THE CALL TO WORSHIP Leader: The joy of Easter brings us together in worship to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ. People: We worship with the expectation that our faith will be strengthened. Leader: Our worship will also challenge us to respond with deeper commitment to our risen Lord. People: We worship our risen Lord, inspired to serve him with renewed discipleship. LAST WORDS FROM THE CROSS: And speaking in a loud voice, Jesus said, Father, into your hands I commit my spirit. Luke 23:46 8:00 10:30 Dan & Janet Fluck Prayer: Dear Lord, help us to realize that the powerful words-he is Risen- are not the end of the story. They are the beginning of newness in our lives. We are grateful that you are ever present with us. Amen. * EASTER AFFIRMATION I believe in the beauty of spring that is known in windy skies, waving jonquils and sweet smelling grass; I believe in the warmth of friendship that is communicated in gentle eyes, a loving smile and an arm thrown over the shoulder; I believe in the power of Christ, whose presence is felt in every season of the year, but especially now, when life wells up everywhere and folks feel a quickening in their souls because it is spring and summer is on the way. I believe that Christ is somehow responsible for both spring and friendship and I thank Him. I worship him by coming here, and saying, Hallelujah! Christ is Risen, and in this very place! CHILDREN S TIME

HYMN Christ is Risen, He is Risen Indeed! How can it be, the One who died, Has borne our sin through sacrifice To conquer every sting of death? Sing, sing hallelujah. For joy awakes as dawning light When Christ s disciples lift their eyes. Alive He stands, their Friend and King; Christ, Christ He is risen. CHORUS Christ is risen, He is risen indeed! Oh, sing hallelujah. Join the chorus, sing with the redeemed; Christ is risen, He is risen indeed. Where doubt and darkness once had been, They saw Him and their hearts believed. But blessed are those who have not seen, Yet, sing hallelujah. Once bound by fear now bold in faith, They preached the truth and power of grace. And pouring out their lives they gained Life, life everlasting. CHORUS The power that raised Him from the grave Now works in us to powerfully save. He frees our hearts to live His grace; Go tell of His goodness. CHORUS He s alive, He s alive! Heaven s gates are opened wide. He s alive, He s alive! Now in heaven glorified.
