A PERSONAL WORD SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER30, 2012 8:45 & 11:00 AM Sanctuary The 8:30 AM worship service is broadcast via 15-minute delay from 9-10 AM Sundays on WAPI-1070 AM and 100.5 FM. SERMON Dr. Andy Wolfe Christian Words Sermon Series: Faith MUSIC 8:45 AM Crusader & Choralier Choirs, Children s Handbell Choir & Sanctuary Choir 11:00 AM Celebration Choir, Children s Handbell Choir & Sanctuary Choir MINISTER ON CALL Bobby Scales, 746-4547 WESLEY HALL 11:15 AM Rev. Nathan Carden Acquitted Series A LOOK AT SEPTEMBER 23 1,149 Worship Attendance 841 Sunday School Attendance In one of his parables, Jesus talks about a sower who went out to sow seeds. Some seeds fell on rocky ground, some along the path, some among thorns and these seeds did not produce. BUT...some seeds fell on good soil and grew up increasing thirtyfold, sixtyfold, a hundredfold. The point if we are faithful in sowing, God will bring forth the growth and increase. That is certainly the case at Trinity! Last night, I had the privilege of teaching our Confirmation Class. There are 68 of them! Suzanne Pruitt tells me that the first confirmation class she taught at Trinity 6 years ago, she had 26 students. You can do the math. One word we can use to describe ministry at Trinity is GROWTH. Here are some numbers: 2006 2012 % Increase - Children in Sunday School 469 690 +47% - Vacation Bible School 218 400 +83% - Element Sunday Night Student Ministry 45 220 +205% - Discovery Weekend for Mid-Highs 65 353 +184% - SOS Student Mission Trip 32 121 +278% This growth in ministry is remarkable! This growth happens because of your faithfulness. It could not happen if each of you were not doing your part to sow seeds of ministry through your giving and your servant ministry roles. What we give and contribute is used and multiplied by God to change lives and transform the world. Our growth in ministry is remarkable, but it presents the challenge of providing the necessary resources the seed money that allows this growth to happen. One example: Six years ago it cost $830 a week to provide quality nursery care. But because of the increase in the numbers of children, last year the nursery care amount was $1650 a week. Double! Our Stewardship theme for this year is Growing in Grace & Generosity. Over the coming weeks, we will have the opportunity to celebrate what God is doing through our Church, and to respond by becoming a part of God s work. Sunday, October 28, is Celebration Sunday. On that day, we will have the opportunity to commit to continuing this path of growth. I want to encourage all of us to begin now to prayerfully consider growing our own personal giving by a 5%-10% minimum in the coming year. We have seen what God can do with our faithfulness. information for guests & new members Welcome to Trinity United Methodist Church!
