First Church of God A Place to...believe...belong...become! 3220 Harrodsburg Rd., Danville, KY 40422 Website: danvillefirstchurchofgod.com E-mail: danvillefirstchurchofgod@gmail.com Phone: (859) 236-4700 Dear Church Family, Summer 2018 Summer is well underway. There are so many things to love about summer. The warm weather, remember just a few months ago you were begging for it, it s here! You probably have family vacations coming up if you haven t already. Our family didn t really take any vacations last year. Nancy and I went to a couple of out of state conferences in the summer where we got to do some things on our way or in the area. But this year during the winter we booked a condo at the beach in Florida for a week in July and I must confess that I have been looking forward to it ever since. Now I know that people do vacations different and part of it depends on where you are and what is around you. I know some people that when they take vacations they go and do and do and do the whole vacation, take in everything they can and then when they get back they need a vacation from their vacation. Some of you might be saying amen right now! (haha) Nancy and I are the opposite, when we take a vacation we like to just lay there and recover from our normal life. When we go to the beach that s where we will be. It s a time to recharge our batteries. I hope during this summer that you will find a time and a place to recharge your batteries. The truth is life can be a grind and you need those times where you can plug in and get the energy you need to continue. I m reminded of what Jesus said in Mark 2:27. The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath God knows we need time and rest. The Sabbath is so we would take at least one day a week and bring some rest to our bodies and our minds, but also a time that we can recharge ourselves spiritually as well. It s always great when you can gather with the body of Christ and love on one another but also see what God might have for you that day. I know that sometimes some of you have to work on Sunday but when that is the case I hope there is a day that you are taking to recharge yourself spiritually and physically. Hopefully you are spiritually feeding yourself on a daily basis, but there is something special about a Sabbath day whether it is a Sunday or has to be some other day for you. God knows what we need that day of rest, after all He created us. When we take those times seriously it makes getting summer and summer vacations a little easier! Maybe that is a question to ask yourself right now. What is your battery level right now? Does it need some attention? I hope that this summer is a special summer for you. I hope that you not only feel the warmth of the sun but that you also feel the warmth of God s love Let me close by saying that I am so thankful to those of you who volunteered for the Community Outreach at Jackson Park. What a blessing it was to mingle with the people, feed them, play some games and just show them some love! I also want to thank those of you who contributed things for the day. What a blessing it is when we can go outside of our walls and be the hands and feet of Jesus. After all THE church doesn t really have walls. Go ahead and put July 29 th on your calendar as we reach out to those around Jackson Park again on that day. You will be hearing more details. God bless! Plug in and be charged! Love in Christ, Pastor Kevin

Women s Ministry Christian Women Connection/Women of Church of God -submitted by Gayle Bastin Hello Ladies!! Can you believe it is the middle of June!! Time flies and it seems we are always busy. Come find your niche in ladies ministries. With more numbers, we could do so much more. We started out the month of June with our Ladies Day Out. We traveled to Glendale, KY. Seven ladies went, and we had an enjoyable day. The weather was beautiful!! We had a delicious lunch at the iconic Whistle Stop restaurant. We enjoyed browsing in the different shops. Wonderful time was had by all. The theme this year for Christian Women Connection is Living Water. John 4:10 (NLT) Jesus replied, If you only knew the gift God has for you and who you are speaking to, you would ask me, and I would give you living water. Continue to remember that Jesus Christ is the source of all strength, the source of all vision, the source of all that makes our missional group meaningful in the Kingdom of God. As a local group, we continue to sponsor through Living Links, Anderson, IN., Jonathan and Beth Todd, missionaries in Brazil and we sponsor Ryan through Appalachian Ministries, Beattyville, Kentucky. We also contribute refreshments to those individuals going through chemo at the Commonwealth Cancer Center here in Danville. Remember to pray for these mission opportunities. We have an opportunity to raise funds for missions projects by using the goodsearch search engine on the internet whenever searching for something (just like if you were using google). Set goodsearch.com as your default search page. When you first set it up, you ll need to go to www.goodsearch.com and choose the charity you re supporting. Please choose Danville First Church of God WCG/CWC. You ll notice a penny is contributed every time you use this page. This doesn t seem like much, but if several are using this search, you can see the donation increasing. When you check out goodsearch, you ll see the goodshop info, or you may go directly to www.goodshop.com. Many companies online participate with goodshop, so if you order online, you may be able to help us with our fundraising in this way as certain companies donate a percentage of sales. Please feel free to call the church office for more info on this. An Opportunity for Other Church Groups to Raise Funds:

Building Fund News Our next Building Fund Campaign year will begin October 1, 2018. Pledges for the new campaign year will be taken Sunday, September 30 th, our campaign Rally Day. The next three months, July, August and September, while not a part of a specific campaign, are very important. We still must make our monthly bank mortgage payment. Therefore, it is important for each of us to continue giving to the building fund during July - September. Our monthly giving goal for a long time has been to reach $5,000 or more each month in building fund receipts. Why $5,000? If we maintain a $5,000 average payment our loan will be paid off in four years to five years. So let's try to reach this goal for July, August and September. So please continue to give to the building fund and be praying about what you might pledge for the 2018-2019 Building Fund Campaign. Thank you for your past and future support! Sincerely, 2018-2019 Campaign Committee We are continuing to collect General Mills Box Tops for the Galilean Home and used postage stamps for missions. Collection baskets are on the table in the Resource Center.
