What s going on in Heaven and how does that impact earth? 12/20/09 HT PM Isaiah 6:1-9 NKJV What is going on in Heaven right now? Do you ever think about that? Is there anything going on in Heaven that is directed toward earth, the people on the earth and their lives? Certainly Heaven is filled with the worship and exaltation of the Divine presence of God. Unfortunately many think that Heaven is a concert when it is probably more like the Central command of strategic things the both the natural and supernatural. Any of you ever had a defining moment when you know that God Himself sent something your way to meet a specific need in your life? Isaiah 6:1 NKJV In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord sitting on a throne, high and lifted up, and the train of His robe filled the temple. Isaiah 6:2 Above it stood seraphim; each one had six wings: with two he covered his face, with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew. Isaiah 6:3 And one cried to another and said:
Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts; The whole earth is full of His glory! Isaiah 6:4 And the posts of the door were shaken by the voice of him who cried out, and the house was filled with smoke. Isaiah 6:5 So I said: Woe is me, for I am undone! Because I am a man of unclean lips, And I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; For my eyes have seen the King, The Lord of hosts. Isaiah 6:6 Then one of the seraphim flew to me, having in his hand a live coal which he had taken with the tongs from the altar. Isaiah 6:7 And he touched my mouth with it, and said: Behold, this has touched your lips; Your iniquity is taken away, And your sin purged. Isaiah 6:8 Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying: Whom shall I send, And who will go for Us? Then I said, Here am I! Send me. Isaiah 6:9 And He said, Go, and tell this people: Keep on hearing, but do not understand; Keep on seeing, but do not perceive.
Two Observations 1. Isaiah is on earth looking into Heaven 2. Heaven is looking down at events on the earth Heaven is aware of the needs a condition of things on the earth! Two Questions asked: 1. Who should Heaven send? 2. Who will actually go? Question 1 Who should Heaven send? There are three ways Heaven performs its work on earth. 1. God in Person God and Moses on Sinai Exodus 19:18 NKJV Now Mount Sinai was completely in smoke, because the Lord descended upon it in fire. Its smoke ascended like the smoke of a furnace, and the whole mountain quaked greatly. Exodus 19:19 And when the blast of the trumpet sounded long and became louder and louder, Moses spoke, and God answered him by voice.
Exodus 19:20 Then the Lord came down upon Mount Sinai, on the top of the mountain. And the Lord called Moses to the top of the mountain, and Moses went up. Exodus 19:21 And the Lord said to Moses, Go down and warn the people, lest they break through to gaze at the Lord, and many of them perish. Exodus 19:22 Also let the priests who come near the Lord consecrate themselves, lest the Lord break out against them. Exodus 20 is where God gave Moses the 10 Commandments. 2. Angelic Being - We see an angel being used to announce Gods plan Matthew 1:19 KJV Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a public example, was minded to put her away privately. Matthew 1:20 But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost. Matthew 1:21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from
their sins. Matthew 1:22 Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, Matthew 1:23 Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us. Matthew 1:24 Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife: Matthew 1:25 And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS. 3. Human Obedience Widow of Zarephath I Kings 17:8-16 NKJV Then the word of the LORD came to him, saying, 9 Arise, go to Zarephath, which belongs to Sidon, and dwell there. See, I have commanded a widow there to provide for you. 10 So he arose and went to Zarephath. And when he came to the gate of the city, indeed a widow was there gathering sticks. And he called to her and said, Please bring me a little water in a cup, that I may drink. 11 And as she was going to get it, he called to her and said, Please bring me a morsel of bread in your hand. 12 So she said, As the LORD your God lives, I do not have bread, only a handful of flour in a bin, and a
little oil in a jar; and see, I am gathering a couple of sticks that I may go in and prepare it for myself and my son, that we may eat it, and die. 13 And Elijah said to her, Do not fear; go and do as you have said, but make me a small cake from it first, and bring it to me; and afterward make some for yourself and your son. 14 For thus says the LORD God of Israel: The bin of flour shall not be used up, nor shall the jar of oil run dry, until the day the LORD sends rain on the earth. 15 So she went away and did according to the word of Elijah; and she and he and her household ate for many days. 16 The bin of flour was not used up, nor did the jar of oil run dry, according to the word of the LORD which He spoke by Elijah. Human obedience 1. Meets Heavens desire ( Heaven was aware of the needs on earth and wanted them met) 2. Meets individual needs (the widow s need) 3. Meets the needs of others (Elijah) Go Back to Isaiah Three Closing observations. 1. God is looking to meet the needs on Earth 2. God is aware of every need 3. God is looking for those who will be hearers and doers.
James 1:21 NKJV Therefore lay aside all filthiness and overflow of wickedness, and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls. James 1:22 But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. James 1:23 For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; James 1:24 for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was. James 1:25 But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does. Many hear the voice of God to be used to meet a need on the earth. Few actually go!
