GIVING OUR MONEY DREAMING & EXPANDING TO GOD WHAT IS SO UNIQUE ABOUT BICA? SPECIAL VISITORS March 2017 IN HONDURAS

WHAT IS SO Romans 10:14 says How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? Well, we are doing just that! We are well under way in intense bible studies and campaigns all across Central America. It is such a time to be thankful and prayerful for the hard work and dedication of our students. Their curriculum and expectations are rigorous but we want to make disciples of all nations and have the name of the Lord praised everywhere! That is what is happening. There are so many requests for evangelistic campaigns from our ministry connections throughout both Guatemala and Honduras that we are conducting two campaigns at a time! All glory be to God, that is such a great problem to have! As I continue to make new connections with new supporters, I am reminded about what a special and exceptional ministry we have with the Biblical Institute of Central America. It is a recurring theme that I am discussing with others What is unique about BICA? So I wanted to share some of those things... We are an intense training program for evangelists and church leaders that is powerfully saving souls across Central America. Each student will develop an extraordinary capacity and passion to convert the lost. In their two years at BICA will have the experience of presenting more than 700 Bible studies to the lost. We send sustainable evangelists to the mission field! These evangelists will preach and serve for the glory of God for at least 40 years and all across the world, all without the dependence on foreign support. Now there is not opposition to foreign support for our students but we realize what an unrealistic expectation to find support for almost 400 of our graduates from BICA for the next 40 years! Therefore, we teach them to have ministries that are self-sustainable by providing them the capital for the start of businesses when they graduate. We long to keep our costs are low for training each student! We are positively influencing the growth of the churches of Christ in Central America and the establishment of new churches of Christ all within a reasonable and conservative budget. UNIQUE ABOUT BICA?

PRAYERS We continue to ask for your prayers! There is so much power and strength in prayer! Pray for the students. Here is the link to our current students. We ask for you to pray for them by name! Each of these students are sacrificing so much to be in this place to become a powerful evangelist and church leader It will be such a blessing to know that each student s name will be prayed by you! Another way you can help is to share BICA with someone! We have big dreams! Dreams of expanding our institutes all across Central America but it will not be an easy task! How are we going to do that? Well, we are trusting the Lord to provide and He will! And we are also praying that you share BICA with others! Let s expand our team of supporters in this effort. I am sharing a document with you that can easily be shared with others: click here or see attachment! We continue to pray for the new opportunities that are on the horizon for BICA! Remember when we discussed the dream of expanding into Costa Rica here in last month s BICA Now? Well, alongside that new opportunity, we are exploring the options to establish a new institute in Cuba! We are making plans to travel to Cuba in April to explore the island and evaluate the costs and options involved! We will meet with the local preachers and church leaders in Cuba to survey the possibility, identify the need, and ensure we have their support. As each month passes, it is a more incredible time for the Biblical Institute of Central America. Thank YOU for being such a supportive and helpful part of that! FOR EXPANDING!

VERY SPECIAL VISITORS This month, the BICA Honduras Institute had a wonderful visit from a few members of the South Side Church of Christ from Rogers, Arkansas. This is the official overseeing church of BICA Honduras. Our brothers, Kevin Snyder, the leader of the church s mission committee, and Jim Canfield, an Elder. For a few days, they spent time with our students and had meetings with the staff of BICA Honduras. They supervised and planned new activities for this year. Roberto Alvarez, the BICA Executive Director, joined them in Honduras for this special visit. It was truly a blessing to have Brother Kevin and Brother Jim in Honduras. Thank you South Side Church of Christ for supporting BICA!!

GUATEMALA RESULTS FROM FEBRUARY Our first evangelistic campaign was in Sacoj, Guatemala City. This is our first campaign with the church in Sacoj. For many years, they have been asking for a campaign with BICA incessantly... but we have not had space in our schedule! The church in Sacoj has a membership of around 35 members. In only one week of evangelism with our BICA students, the church almost doubled in size! Results from the Sacoj Church of Christ Campaign: 22 Baptisms, 4 Restorations, 118 Contacts BAPTISMS THIS MONTH The second evangelistic campaign was in Carolingia, Guatemala City. Carolingia is a very dangerous suburb of Guatemala City but our BICA students were presenting the gospel from door-to-door with courage. Carolingia is the example of a church that is growing through the association with BICA. When we started evangelistic campaigns in Carolingia the church had around 60 members. After 6 years working with them, they have 150 members. Results from the Carolingia Church of Christ Campaign: 14 Baptisms, 09 Restorations, 131 Contacts Evangelistic Weekend Work: In 2017, we continue reaching and helping 23 small congregations. The students travel by bus. Some students travel only 1 hour and other students travel almost 4 hours! But each student waits with anticipation each Friday to start the weekend work! Results of the Month 27 Baptisms 144 Contacts 19 Restorations and 33 disciples teaching others 91 IN BOTH BICA GUATEMALA AND BICA HONDURAS!

HONDURAS RESULTS FROM FEBRUARY In BICA Honduras, we had a campaign in the Church of Christ of Cabañas in San Pedro Sula. This church is located in the most dangerous city. The violence generated by drug trafficking, gangs and the murder of women make this city the most dangerous in the world. The city of San Pedro Sula is the second most populous city in Honduras. It is also one of the cities that needs to urgently hear the gospel of Christ...That is why we spent a full week evangelizing door-to-door. It is unfortunate that on the first day of the campaign, a couple of students were assaulted, robbed of their possessions (cell phones, money and backpacks). It was a very frightening experience for them But that did not stop them from continuing to preach the gospel of Christ the rest of the week! Cabañas Church of Christ was established for 5 years ago by a preacher that is a graduate from our Institute. His name is Luis Ovaldo Sazo. This church had approximately 50 members before the campaign efforts of BICA. For the honor and glory to God, the result of this campaign increased the church with 12 Baptisms and 5 restorations! During the weekends, our students continue to help different churches in the surrounding area. The result of weekend work in Honduras is 16 baptisms, for the glory of God! BAPTISMS THIS MONTH 91 IN BOTH BICA GUATEMALA AND BICA HONDURAS!

GIVING OUR MONEY TO GOD Now I want to share with you my thoughts about "giving of our money to God." Throughout my entire life, I have been involved and active in the church. Therefore, I have heard the topic of giving many times in the goods ways and sometimes in delicate ways. I hope my experience below can help to improve in the area of "giving" in your life, especially for those of my generation. I have learned these four things: 1. Giving is not a matter of Old or New Testament. Giving God ourselves is a matter that God has always asked for it. If you examine the first offering of a human being recorded in the Bible, this was Abel's! In Genesis 4:4 "And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the Lord had respect unto Abel and to his offering. There was no law, there was no grace. Only one man who gave his offering to Jehovah. 2. When we give we make a spiritual investment: In 2 Corinthians 9 the apostle Paul gives instructions on how to offer. In verse 6 he writes, "But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully." When we see flourishing missions, booming and many baptisms, many churches planted etc; Generally this harvest is the result of many generous offerings. 3. We do not give to God for him to give to us we give to God because He has already given us. In 1 Chronicles 29.14 David says: "But who am I, and what is my people, that we should be able to offer so willingly after this sort? for all things come of thee, and of thine own have we given thee." If you examine today all that God has given you, could you not give Him something special as a form of Thanksgiving? 4. God promises to bless the one who gives! In Philippians 4:19 Paul says, "But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus." But for whom is this promise really? For those of Ephesus? No. For the Colossians? No. The specific promise of provision here is for the Philippians who gave again and again of their offerings for the ministry of Paul. Many refused to give. But the Philippians were always offering for the ministry of Paul, so he tells the Philippians that by their offerings, God will also provide for them. Never refuse to give a little. ROBERTO ALVAREZ JR 615.982.2148 ROBERTOJR.BICA@GMAIL.COM Let us not see the offering as "money" alone, but as an investment with eternal repercussions!
