Samuelson This Christmas In Matthew 3:2 we hear John the Baptist proclaim, Repent for the kingdom of heaven has come near. The nearness of the kingdom, that is the righteousness, peace, and joy of heaven is near. (Romans 14:17) Its arrival comes in the incarnation of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. Christmas then is the celebration of the one who brings the kingdom of heaven to earth. As Christians we pray so often your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. (Matt. 6:10) Bill Johnson, a pastor and Bible teacher in California says sometimes the reason we think a prayer has gone unanswered is because we already have the thing we re praying for, and our failure to realize that causes us to interpret it as an unanswered prayer. In Jesus the kingdom has come to the earth. Even in the resurrection the kingdom of heaven is with us in the presence of the Holy Spirit. This Christmas may the people of God live their lives realizing that the Kingdom is present with us and in us. May repentance take place in our thinking. May we reflect the kingdom of heaven that is with us and in us to the world. Pastor Gary

We are busy getting ready for Christmas Jesus birthday! The children are very excited at this time of the year as they create Christmas cards, sing carols, listen to stories and prepare for our pageant all while still learning through play! We have our very own class Christmas tree which the children decorate and undecorated every day. It s lots of fun and a great way to practice their fine motor skills while trying to get the ornaments on the branches. There are a few nativity sets for them to explore and tell the story of the first Christmas. Of December is such a joyous and exciting time of the year. course, there s also talk of Santa and Rudolph and who puts a star, angel or bow on top of their home Christmas tree. This month we will also be learning about animals preparing for winter and hibernation. Magnets will be brought into our science area. We are also working on letter identification and printing letters. It s fun to write your name on your stocking for our bulletin board! Our afternoon class Christmas pageant and celebration will be held during class time on Thursday, December 15th. The children have chosen their roles for the pageant and will perform on stage, in costume, for their families that day. They are very excited about practicing and performing. On Friday, December 16th, our three-day morning class will celebrate Christmas together with a holiday performance by the children followed by a luncheon for all families in our Fellowship Hall. Our staff will prepare a ziti lunch for families. The children have already begun learning the songs they will sing on stage! On a sadder note, our beloved parishioner and fellow Nursery School Board member, Jim Samuelson, passed away on November 21st. Jim was a vital and valued member of our Board and will be greatly missed. One of the extra things he did for us was to arrange our annual NJ Transit train trip for our afternoon children, our favorite class trip! Jim always made sure we had NJ Transit escorts on the trip through his connections so we never had to worry if we made our connection! Our thoughts and prayers go out to Jim s wife Linda and his children Jeremy and Lindsey. On behalf of the staff, families, and Board of Directors, I wish you and your family a very healthy and blessed Christmas and a wonderful new year! Peace, Janet Kain
