Our students in grades 5 through 7 did a fine job with their projects, and Mrs. Antonio was very pleased by the quality. I commend our students for their hard work and thoughtful scientific investigation. Congratulations to this year s winners, who are listed below. If you did not have a chance to purchase entry to this event, you may do so in the school office. The cost is $50 per family. Family Bingo Night is Back! Join us for some good old fashioned family fun on Friday, April 15 th, in the Parish Hall. Cougar Classic Golf Tournament: April 22 nd, at Lincoln Hills Golf Club. See attached flyer and brochure for details. Save the Date for The Spring Gathering: April 27 th, in the Parish Hall. This is an adults only event, and all OLA parents are invited. More information to follow. Missoula Children s Theatre: This year s dates are May 2nd-7th. More information to follow. COUNTRY FAIR NEWS Call out for younger grade parents who want to get involved!! Howdy Folks! It's that time of year to get the ball rolling for this year's Country Fair! New this year: Opportunity for 2 parents who want to chair the fair next year and are available to shadow this year. You will receive all CF HOURS and learn the ropes to take on the fair in 2017. Also, 2 sub-chair positions are open for the Fun Zone. If you are interested, please contact the CF chairs, Yvette Gordon yvettegordon25@yahoo.com or Michelle Munn michelle@englishgardencare.com. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Registration Packet: The 2016/2017 school year registration packet will be sent home with your oldest student on Friday, March 4 th. Please watch for it. The entire packet, along with the registration fee, will be due Monday, March 21 st. The registration fee increases after March 21 st. Original Works: Your children are working hard at school creating beautiful artwork you can display. We are working with Original Works, an Art-based Fundraiser. This fundraiser is held every-other year, so it won't be back until 2018! The school will earn approximately.35% of the total sales, which helps fun our fantastic art program! Artwork and order forms will be sent home on March 14, 2016 and will be due back on March 21, 2016. Annual Baby Bottle Project: Please fill the bottles with coins and dollars for the Sacramento Life Center. Each student may place a raffle ticket inside his/her baby bottle. The raffle winner will receive a Kindle Fire! Please return all bottles, including empty ones, by Friday, March 11 th. VOLUNTEER HOURS OPPORTUNITIES Help Needed with Scrip Sales: Please contact Grace Harder at scrip@olaparish.net if you would like to help. Rainy/Cold Day Assistance Needed: Help is needed in monitoring classrooms during lunchtime on rainy and cold days. If you are able to help, please notify the school office. We appreciate your service! ALUMNI NEWS XANADU: Several OLA alumni: John Novotny, Harrison Moore, Erin Tooley, and Jillie Kate Randle have roles in Jesuit High School s musical production, which opens on Thursday Night, March 3 rd, and runs until Friday March 18 th. YOUTH GROUP NEWS OLA Youth Groups - 7th/8th & High School: Meetings are on Wednesdays, from 7:00-8:30pm, in St. John s Hall. Youth Group - Soap for Souls: We are in need of soaps, shampoos, conditioners, lotions, etc. of any size. Baskets are at the back of the church, labeled Soap for Souls.

PARISH NEWS The Great Gift of the Eucharist: Please join us Thursday, March 3 rd, at 7:00pm for our Parish Festival of Faith with a Catechetical Assembly for the whole parish, especially for children who are preparing for First Eucharist and their families, as well as all who are involved in any ministry related to the Eucharist. All parishioners are encouraged to participate, not only to recall what a great gift the Eucharist is, but also to witness and support our children and their families. Let us rejoice in this gift of the charity of Christ and share our faith with our children! Chrism Mass: You are cordially invited to the Chrism Mass. This is one of our most important Diocesan celebrations. The Bishop blesses the Holy Oils that are used in sacramental celebrations in all the parishes of the Diocese throughout the coming year. Please join Bishop Soto, Bishop Cotta, the priests of the diocese, and your Catholic brothers and sisters as we pray for God's continued blessings on the Church of Sacramento on: Thursday, March 17 th, at 6:00pm, at the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament. National Catholic Forensic League s National Speech and Debate Competition: We are excited to welcome the competition to the West Coast for the very first time! Beginning Friday, May 27 th, through Sunday, May 29th, thousands of competitors who have earned an invitation at localized tournaments, coaches, and family members will travel from throughout the United States to showcase their talents with the hopes of achieving recognition for themselves and their school as the best of the best. This also represents an opportunity for the Diocese of Sacramento to put its best foot forward. Our Most Reverend Bishop Jaime Soto and our beautiful Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament have already graciously agreed to preside at or host the special Mass that will be celebrated on Saturday, May 28th at 8:30pm, following the first rounds of competition. Many more volunteers are needed for this event, which will take place at the Convention Center, the Hyatt and Sheraton hotels downtown, Sacramento State University, C.K. McClatchy High School, and concludes with an awards ceremony at the Memorial Auditorium. Help is needed with many tasks including giving directions, manning information desks, distribution and collection of materials, sorting tournament materials, and transporting items between sites. Training will be provided. Our Lady of the Assumption Parish School 7 th Annual COUGAR CLASSIC Golf Tournament Friday April 22 nd, 2016 Lincoln Hills Golf Club Orchard Course Hands to Serve, Hearts to Love Our Lady of the Assumption School is a PreK-8th grade Catholic parish school. The OLA Cougar Classic was started in 2010 by a group of dads who recognized a need to help families in need with tuition assistance. Because of the success of the golf tournament, a number of additional school programs have received support from the proceeds from this event. In addition to Tuition Assistance, programs benefiting from this year s event include: Classroom Technology Upgrades, Sports Programs, and Financial Assistance for the annual 8th Grade Washington, D.C. Trip. The Cougar Classic has grown in size and stature each year. The event is again at a great venue for golf, food, and fun for all - and will again be 1st class.
