Our Great God Eternal God, Unchanging, Mysterious and unknown. Your boundless love unfailing, In grace and mercy shown. Bright seraphim in endless flight around your glorious throne. They raise their voices day and night in praise to you alone. Lord, We are weak and frail, Helpless in the storm. Surround us with your angels, Hold us in your arms. Our cold and ruthless enemy, His pleasure is our harm. Rise up, O Lord, And he will flee before our Sovereign God. Let every creature in the sea and every flying bird; Let every mountain, Every field and valley of the earth; Let all the moons and all the stars in all the universe Sing praises to the Living God, Who rules them by His word. Offertory Of the Father s Love Begotten Of the Father s love begotten, ere the worlds began to be, He is Alpha and Omega, He the source, the ending He, Of the things that are, that have been, And that future years shall see, evermore and evermore! O ye heights of heaven adore Him; angel hosts, His praises sing; Powers, dominions, bow before Him, and extol our God and King! Let no tongue on earth be silent, Every voice in concert sing, evermore and evermore! Christ, to Thee with God the Father, and, O Holy Ghost, to Thee, Hymn and chant with high thanksgiving, and unwearied praises be: Honor, glory, and dominion, And eternal victory, evermore and evermore! Text: Aurelius C. Prudentius, 4 th century; translated John M. Neale and Henry W. Baker Music: Plain song, 13 th century, arr. by C. Winfred Douglas 4
The Lord s My Shepherd The Lord s my shepherd, I ll not want; He makes me lie in pastures green. He leads me by the still, still waters, His goodness restores my soul. Chorus: And I will trust in You alone, And I will trust in You alone, For Your endless mercy follows me, Your goodness will lead me home. He guides my ways in righteousness, And He anoints my head with oil, And my cup, it overflows with joy, I feast on His pure delights. And though I walk the darkest path, I will not fear the evil one, For You are with me, and Your rod and staff Are the comfort I need to know. Stuart Townend Copyright 1996 Thankyou Music 5
We Are Not Overcome Flesh will fail and bones will break theives will steal, the earth will shake. Night will fall, the light will fade; The Lord will give and take away: Put no trust in the earth, in the sod you stand upon. Flowers fade into dust; The Lord will make a place for us. Because of His great love, we are not overcome! Because of His great love, we are not overcome! Have no fear for your life, Turn your cheek! Turn your cheek! Bear the yoke of love and death; The Lord will give and take away. Words and music by Isaac Wardell, Robert Heiskell 6
The Lord s Supper The Lord s Supper is one of two sacraments commanded by Christ and entrusted to his church (the other being Baptism). It portrays the gospel in a tangible way. Distributing bread and wine pictures the broken body and shed blood of Jesus freely offered for the forgiveness of sin and the transformation of our character. Eating those elements illustrates the faith that embraces Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. What s the Lord s Supper for? Renewing our faith in God s goodness and grace. Grasping the freedom God offers to live like Jesus, reconcile conflicts and find power for service. Who is the Lord s Supper for? Members in good standing of any church that faithfully teaches the gospel, and who long for fellowship with Christ today. Children may partake in communion once they have confessed their own faith publicly before the congregation. Until then, be sure to include your children in the sacrament by reminding them what you believe and letting them accompany you to the Table. And remember that you are free to take the elements at the front of the sanctuary, where you could quietly gather your family together to ask God for his blessing.
