CJOJ ~!'\J In church we often talk about "free" agency. But the scriptures ~ never mention free agency. They only "peak of agency. Agency i" defined as " the capacity, condition, or state of acting or of exerting power." So when we speak of agency we are talking of the ability to act for our selves. When we add the word free to agency it means that Heavenly Father has given us the Freedom to act as we choose. Being Free to act does not mean that agency itself is free or that our actions are without consequences. There is a consequence to everything we do. Those consequences can be either good or bad depending on the action. For example, the consequence of doing the good thing of learning to read is to be able to read many wonderful things. The consequence of doing the wrong thing of stealing a candy bar is having to face at least the store owner and possibly the police. actions. Sometimes consequences don't come immediately after our There are times when we do good things like being friendly or smoking cigarettes that we don't see the results for quite some time. like the analogy of the stick. up both ends. ends of the stick. When you pick up a stick you have to pick Even if you break one end off you are still picking up both are accepting the consequence that Thus it is with agency: When you use your agency you goes with the action. I hope that each one of you will make wise use of Heavenly Father's gift of agency and always choose the better way. J)J

Helaman 4:30 All Choices Have Consequences: Making a choice is like picking up a stick. When you pick up one end of a stick, the other end always comes with it. When you make a choice, a consequence always comes with it. Discuss the good and bad choices we can make and the consequences of each. Remember that consequences don't always follow quickly. Apple Votives A flotilla of apples bobbing in a steel tub evokes memories of childhood and headlong plunges into icy water. But carved into holiday candleholders, these apple votives are a prize for the eyes alone, their flames a promise of warmth. Tools and Materials Large tub Apples Tea lights Paring knife Lemonjuice Apple Votives How-To Every apple will float differently, so see how they balance in water before marking their topsides with a dot. 1.Place the tea light over the dot, and trace around its circumference with a paring knife, inserting the knife vertically as deep as the tea light is tall. 2. Set aside the light, cut the circle into sections, and scoop them out with a spoon. 3. Squeeze lemonjuice onto the cut surface to keepthe apple from turning brown, and insert a tea light. Repeat with remaining apples.
