Catechism Program 2014-2015 RCIY/RCIA Class 1 Class description: The students will be prepared to receive the sacraments of Baptism, Penance, Holy Communion, and Confirmation. Class frequency: Once a week. Duration of the class: 1 year. Requirements to pass the class: Baptism Certificate if baptized in a non-catholic Church Sunday Mass attendance 85% class attendance (26 classes out of 30) For youths in grades 7-11, at least one of the parents IS REQUIRED TO ATTEND CLASSES with them. Parents attendance will be checked and logged every class. Parents MUST ATTEND one Parent Meeting. After two failed tests, the student will be accepted to enroll but attending the CCD Prayer Class (Fridays @ 4p.m. in Room 1102 - see section in this booklet) becomes mandatory for the student until he/she passes all the prayers.

CONFIRMATION Class description: The students will be prepared to receive the sacrament of Confirmation. Class frequency: Once a week for classes, 3 times in 2 years for retreats, and once a month for formation talk. Duration of the class: 2 years. HOMESCHOOLERS Class description: This program is open only for children that are registered in the Regina Pacis Homeschool Program. The students will be prepared to receive the sacraments of Penance, Holy Communion, and Confirmation. The students will also deepen in their knowledge of the Catholic faith. Class frequency: Weekly, at child s own pace. Duration of the class: 1 year (First Holy Communion) 2 years (Confirmation) Registration Requirements: Interview with the Pastor and approval by him Copy of the Baptism Certificate Registration at Our Lady of Peace Catechism Program General Requirements to pass the class: Sunday Mass attendance Student must pass the midterm and final exams. First Holy Communion & Confirmation I Special Requirements: Completed assignments (from the workbook) must be submitted to DRE during midterm and finals. Parent MUST ATTEND 2 First Holy Communion Parent Meetings. Confirmation II Special Requirements: Parents are to give their children weekly assignments, following OLOP curriculum. Weekly assignments have to be presented to the DRE or teacher, via e-mail or in person, for approval before it is given to the child. Completed weekly assignments have to be submitted to DRE or teacher, every week. 80% passing grades on all the assignments submitted to the DRE or the teacher. MUST ATTEND 1 Parent & Sponsor Meeting.

GIRLS ORATORY Class description: This class is open for girls only. This program prepares the children to become a well-balanced person of faith. The children will receive formation talks that will help deepen their prayer life and their understanding of and relationship with God. They will also learn and experience how to put love of neighbor in action by doing community service. They will also be taught how to relate and work well with one another while having fun doing arts and crafts. Class frequency: Once a week. Duration of the class: 1 year Requirements to pass the class: Sunday Mass attendance 85% class attendance (26 classes out of 30) Grade Schedule Language 1 st 4 th Friday 6:00 pm 8:00 pm English 5 th 7 th Friday 6:00 pm 8:00 pm English 8 th and up Friday 6:00 pm 8:00 pm English

BOYS ORATORY Class description: This class is open for boys only. This program prepares the children to become a well-balanced person of faith. CHOIR CLASS Class description: The students will be prepared to sing on special Masses like the First Holy Communion Mass, Christmas Mass, and other special events. They will be taught about the importance of the Liturgy in the life of the Church. The Mass will be explained to them so that they will be encouraged to participate more on it. Giving glory to God through singing will be this class primary goal. Medium of Instruction: English Class frequency: Once a week on Saturdays, 9:00 a.m. 10:40 a.m. ONLY Duration of the class: 1 year Requirements to be accepted in this class: Child should be between 2 nd and 8 th Grade Requirements to pass this class: Regular Sunday Mass attendance (the student will be dropped from this class if they have poor Mass attendance subject to the discretion of the teacher) 85% class attendance (26 classes out of 30)

PRAYER CLASS Class description: This is a mandatory remedial class for registered CCD students who are struggling on the required prayers. Medium of Instruction: Bilingual - English & Spanish Class frequency: Once a week on Fridays, 4:00 p.m. 5:00 p.m. ONLY Duration of the class: Depends on the child s progress Requirements to be accepted in this class: Child is a student in one of the regular CCD classes 1 Requirements to pass this class: Memorization of the following prayers: o Our Father o Hail Mary o Glory Be o Act of Contrition o Apostles Creed 2 Registration Fee: $10 a month. 1 These classes are First Holy Communion, Confirmation, and Continuous Education. 2 Required for those in Confirmation classes. First Holy Communion classes are not required to memorize this at the time of registration.

Our Lady of Peace Church Catechism Program 2014 2015 WANT TO REGISTER? 1. Get a copy of the registration form from the Catechism office. For children and youth registration: Registration office is located inside the Family Learning Center building. It s on your left, by the stairs, when you enter the building. For adult registration: Registration office is located second door from the gift shop (double glass doors). 2. Fill out the registration form. If student is baptized, please make sure to bring a copy of the student s Birth & Baptism certificates. 3. Submit the form to the Catechism office in person. We do not accept registration over the phone, via email or online.
