So October 31 was All Hallows Eve or Halloween. We, like many churches, move the All Saints celebration to the first Sunday in November. All Saints Day began as a day to remember the martyrs those who had died as a result of their witness to Christ. Because there were too many of them to be named, Christians developed a common celebration of all martyrs as early as the fifth century AD. All Saints has evolved into a celebration of all of those faithful ones who have led exemplary lives and who have been significant in the life of our church, for us personally, or both. A saint does not have to be a Mother Teresa or a Peter or Paul. A saint can be anyone whose manner of life reflects faith in God and who has given and received love. On All Saints Day we remember that we become holy sanctified not by our own puny efforts but by the grace of God in his Son. Grace alone, which God supplies; strength unknown he will provide. Christ in us, our Cornerstone; we will go forth in grace alone! (from The Faith We Sing, No. 2162) Steve Mindrup

Let' Spruce Up Our Church It's been a while since the church building has had a spruce up cleaning. If we put all of our hands together, the place will be sparkling before you know it. As we did when Pastor Babler retired, picking one room or area will be manageable and easy. So gather a friend or two and pick a room! Different areas will require different processes, but as a rule of thumb, let's make sure the windows are clean, the window sills, etc. dusted, counters, cabinets and surfaces washed down or polished. The outside of windows and screens could use a good cleaning, too. In the narthex you'll find a diagram of the church building. Sign up for the area that appeals to you and decide when you want to bring your supplies and get our place of worship and fellowship sparkling! You decide who you want to team up with and when you want to accomplish the tasks over the summer. Thanks in advance for your help with this project.
