God will receive much glory as many more people are living the life that He intended for them! Remember: The Great Commission will not be accomplished in your community when everyone has heard the gospel, but when the gospel has so changed the lives of those who receive Christ that your community is transformed through them!

Session Three How to Follow up after a Spontaneous Disciple Making Workshop You have completed the SDMW and now what happens next will determine the ongoing success of the time and effort you have spent and the vision you have shared! The Training workshop is just one step toward the fulfilment of the Great Commission in your community and it has the potential to also spread beyond your city even to your entire country! How to Follow-up with Interested Pastors/Leaders 1. Together with your Training Team go over the list of names of the Pastors/Leaders who attended the SDMW and completed the Commitment Agreement expressing their interest in developing their church as a disciple-making church. 2. If you have several available Trainers then you could divide up the names of the interested Pastors/Leaders and decide who will contact and work with each one. 3. Make contact with each Pastor/Leader assigned to you and arrange a time to meet with him/her. 4. When you meet with a Pastor/Leader(s): a. Ask if he/she has any questions about the SDM Workshop and try to answer their questions. Ask, How can we make the SDM Workshop better? b. Ask how many people from their church attended the SDMW. c. Discuss the Follow-up Planning Sheet and Commitment Agreement and the Spontaneous Disciple Making Strategy Goal Sheet for a Participating Church. Let them know that you will be in contact with them each month to see if they need any help in following their plan and to gather their Numerical Report. d. Invite the Pastor/Leader and any other Pastors/Leaders at their church or ministry to attend the Pastors Life Group each month. Give them the date, time and location of the next Life Group. e. In order to conduct the Pastors Life Group, use the Pastors Life Group Workbook. (This is available on our website as a download at www.dynamicchurches.org or you can email us at info@dynamicchurches.org f. If the pastor plans to attend the Pastors Life Group regularly he/she can report the numerical progress at the Pastors Life Group each month. g. If they do not plan to attend the Pastors Life Group then arrange a time to meet again approximately one month later. h. Assure the pastor that you will be available to assist him/her and to hold him/her accountable to the goals that he/she has set. i. Pray for the Pastor/Leader and his/her church before you leave.

How to Set-up an Appointment for a Pastor/Leader Visit Note to DCI Trainer: After the SDMW, the interested Pastors/Leaders names, addresses and phone numbers should be divided among the DCI Trainers who will be following up with the Pastors/Leaders who indicated that they want to develop the DCI Spontaneous Disciple Making Strategy in their church so that he/they can contact them and arrange to visit and assist them. The first few appointments should be conducted by the DCI Trainer as he is training his Trainee. Note: Be friendly and casual. You will be most effective in setting up an appointment if you simply state the following script (in bold print below). Practice this so that you know it well enough to be able to say it in your own words. 1. Sample telephone scripts: When calling a Pastor/Leader who has attended a SDMW. Hello, this is I am a representative of Dynamic Churches International. I am following up with those who attended the Spontaneous Disciple-Making Workshop. How are you today? (Pause for a response) We are happy that you attended the Workshop. My friend and I would like to visit with you briefly to see if you have any questions about the workshop and how we can help you implement the Spontaneous Disciple Making Strategy in your church or ministry if you are interested. Would (day and time) be okay or would (day and time) be better? (If neither time works then set another time. If no, or if not interested, thank them for attending the workshop and invite them to attend again in the future if they would like to.) Leave your name and phone number. 2. When calling a Pastor/Leader who has not attended a SDMW. Hello, this is I am a representative of Dynamic Churches International. How are you today? (Pause for a response) Is this a convenient time to talk for about 3 or 4 minutes? (If yes say) Thank you. Dynamic Churches International is a nonprofit organization that is committed to serve local churches and train church leaders in the area of One-to-One Discipleship and Reproducing Discovery Groups. I am calling today to see if I could visit with you and share an opportunity for you to learn how to develop your church as a disciple-making church that is reaching out to the community. (Ask) Is this something you would be interested in hearing about? (Pause for a response) (If Yes say) My friend and I would like to visit with you briefly to share this strategy, and explain how we are available to help you implement this in your church if you want our assistance. Would (day and time) be okay or would (day and time) be better? (If neither time works then set another time. If no, or if not interested, thank them and invite them to contact you in the future if they want.) Leave your name and phone number. 3. Where possible send an email to the Pastor(s) who have agreed to meet with you. Encourage them to visit our website at www.dynamicchurches.org 4. Be sure to be thoroughly familiar with their name and necessary information on their church before the visit is initiated. 4. It is best to make appointments with pastors ahead of time especially if they live more than a few minutes away. 5. You may choose to visit unannounced. If the pastor is busy when you call, then try to make an appointment for another time to visit. You will need to have several names to visit in the same area, in case some are not available or not able to visit with you. 6. Follow-up your visit with a letter or email thanking them for the visit and encouraging them to follow through with the plans and goals you set with them for their church.

How to Conduct an Effective Visit with the Pastor(s) Use the following outline for your visit. A. Make an appointment (if possible). See above script. B. Pray that God will bless the visit with the Pastor. C. On Arrival introduce yourself. D. Establish rapport with the pastor(s). Ask questions about himself, family and his church etc. E. Ask them what they want to see God do in their church. F. Share a personal testimony of how the Spontaneous Disciple Making Strategy has been a blessing to you and how the people you minister to have grown spiritually as a result. Note: If the Pastor is not familiar with our disciple-making ministry then you could offer to share a brief overview with him. You could use the PowerPoint Overview or show him the diagrams in the SDM Workbook. G. Let them know of your availability to help develop the Spontaneous Disciple Making Strategy if they want you to. H. Give them an opportunity to decide if they wish to proceed and if they want your assistance. Also help the Pastor clarify if he/she will lead the Spontaneous Disciple Making Strategy in their church/ministry or if he/she will choose some one else to lead it, and if so try to obtain a name. Note: If they want to proceed with you then have the Pastor/Leader fill out and sign the Commitment Agreement, so that you will both know what you can expect from each other. I. Growth Challenge Let him know that you are available to assist the Pastor and leaders if they request your help, as they provide further training for their people in the future. J. Always invite the Pastor or Pastors visited to attend a Pastors Life Group in their area regardless of the response to proceed with the Spontaneous Disciple Making Strategy at this time. If they do want to proceed, you could say: We are so happy that you have made this decision. It is important now that you learn together with other participating pastors and leaders so that you can encourage each other. We have a great opportunity for you to learn. Once a month we meet together as a Pastors Life Group. If you choose to attend you will meet with like minded Pastors and leaders for prayer, fellowship and some instruction. (Give date, time and location of the next Pastors Life Group.) K. Express your appreciation for them and excitement for their ministry. L. Close in prayer asking God s blessing on them. M. Report the results of your visit at your next DCI Trainers Training.
