Page 8 Third Sunday of Easter Religious Education 1 st COMMUNION PREPARATION for Children You may be wondering, When do I sign up my child for 1 st Communion? Preparation for the sacraments of RECONCILIATION (Confession) and EUCHARIST (Communion) begins in 1st grade and is a 2 year process. PUBLIC or PRIVATE SCHOOL Children who have been baptized and attend public or private school should be enrolled in their parish Religious Education program to begin the preparation. CATHOLIC SCHOOL Children who attend Catholic School enroll in their parish RE program in the child s 2nd year of school to prepare for the sacraments of Reconciliation and Eucharist. CHRISTIAN SCHOOL Parents of Catholic children who are enrolled in Christian School are expected to register their child in our religious education program and attend in their 2nd year for sacramental preparation.
