Words of Welcome Organ Prelude Prayer for Worship Kendra Plating God of Light, God of Grace, God of Peace, In our worship we seek the light of your presence. We seek it, and yet would turn away from it, for you may illuminate more than it is comfortable for us to see. We may see the dust and dirt of guilt that clings so closely to us. We may see the walls that we have built so cleverly between ourselves... and you. Still, we long for your Spirit moving in our worship. By your grace, O Lord, wash us and make us clean. By your love, O Lord, tear down our walls, build up our lives. Amen. Peggy A. Haymes *Processional Hymn 321 Jesus Shall Reign Where er the Sun DUKE STREET Welcome of Worshippers We welcome those who are visiting with us today. Litany of Baptism Baxter Wynn One: The Lord be with you. Many: And also with you. One: Let us give thanks to the Lord. Many: It is right to give our thanks and praise. One: Eternal and gracious God, we give you thanks. In countless ways you have revealed yourself to us and blessed us with signs of your grace. Many: We praise you that through the waters of the sea you led your people Israel out of bondage into freedom in the land of your promise. One: We praise you for sending Jesus your Son, who was baptized in the waters of the Jordan, and was anointed as the Christ by your Holy Spirit. Many: We rejoice that you claimed us in our baptism and that by your grace we were born again. By your Holy Spirit renew us, that we may continue to be empowered to do your will and bring you glory and honor, both now and forever. All: Amen. The Ordinance of Baptism Jim Dant Candidates: Will Bailey John Robert McCollum Baptismal Vow Unison: Having been led to my present relationship with God, who in Jesus the Christ seeks to reconcile the world to himself; recognizing that I have sinned, and that I continually fall short of the wholeness and beauty of God s plan; having accepted Jesus the Christ as the Author and Finisher of my faith, and having experienced Christian baptism to symbolize my death to selfishness, and the renewal of life through the same divine energy which raised Jesus from the grave; I hereby publicly profess that Jesus the Christ is Lord of my life and destiny. I solemnly vow to live in response to God, as the Spirit enables me to grow into the wholeness of Christian maturity and a genuine involvement in Christian ministry. Amen.
