We re delighted you ve chosen to worship with us this morning. At St. Mark it s our commitment to you that we faithfully proclaim God s Word so that your faith may grow during your time with us. Our goal is to make disciples of Jesus Christ by proclaiming the good news of what He has done for us. We welcome the opportunity to answer any questions you have. Ushers and Greeters are available in the narthex (entryway) to answer any questions you may have and offer you any assistance you may need. Children s Bulletins and Busy Bags are available in the entryway for your family to use. If your child becomes a bit restless during the service and you think they could use a break, we have a Nursery Space in the church office that you can use. An usher can guide you there. Friendship Cards are found in the racks of each pew. We ask that during the offering you fill out a card that we may have a record of your visit and get to know you. OUR THEME FOR TODAY Mindful of Judgment He will come to judge the living and the dead. We confess it every Sunday, but often live like those are empty words. Moses psalm on the mortality of man shakes us from our spiritual slumber. Today we pray that God keep us ever mindful of the Last Judgment that we might be found in faith, fruitful in both word and deed. Then there s no need to fear Judgment Day; rather, we can look forward to the day of our redemption. Birthdays Brittany Hodges 11/13 New Building Fund: If you would like to give specifically to the new building addition, please write Building Addition Fund on the envelope to be sure that the money is allocated correctly. THE LORD S PRAYER C: Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever and ever. Amen. THE BLESSING M: The Lord bless you and keep you. The Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you. The Lord look on you with favor and give you peace. HYMN: 210 (verses 1-3,5) Who Knows When Death HYMN: CW 441 The Service O God, Our Help in Ages Past M: In the name of the Father and of the Son + and of the Holy Spirit. Confession of Sins M: If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. C: If we confess our sins, God is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. M: Let us confess our sins to the Lord. C: Holy God, gracious Father, I am sinful by nature and have sinned against you in my thoughts, words, and actions. I have not loved you with my whole heart; I have not loved others as I should. I deserve your punishment both now and forever. But Jesus, my Savior, paid for my sins with his holy life and innocent death. Trusting in him, I pray: God, have mercy on me, a sinner. Silence for meditation and reflection. Absolution M: God, our gracious Father, has forgiven all your sins. He sent his only Son, Jesus Christ, to be our Savior. Jesus paid the penalty for your guilt by his death on the cross and freed you from death by his resurrection from the grave. You are at peace with God. Live in the comfort and joy of his forgiveness. Lord, Have Mercy - Kyrie, eleison M: In peace let us pray to the Lord. M: For the peace from above and for our salvation, let us pray to the Lord. 10 3

M: For the peace of the whole world, for the well-being of the Church of God, and for the unity of all, let us pray to the Lord. M: For this holy house and for all who offer here their worship and praise, let us pray to the Lord. M: Provide wisdom and insight to the leaders of our nation as they address the terrors and tragedies of our world. Lead them to cooperate with others to bring down evil and offer relief. Prosper the work of Christian missionaries who proclaim the gospel in warring and peaceful nations. C: Protect our cities and neighborhoods from crime and disasters. M: Help, save, comfort, and defend us, gracious Lord. Glory to God in the Highest - Gloria in excelsis M: Hold in your care, Lord, those who are experiencing physical and emotional pain and all who are afflicted by disease or facing death. (Especially bless.) Pour out your compassion on the grieving and comfort the mourners who miss someone they loved. C: Move us to pray for these brothers and sisters and to help when we can. M: Hear us, Lord, as we pray in silence. Silent prayer M: Whether we pray together or alone, you have promised to hear and answer us because of the work of your Son Jesus. Give us patient and willing faith to accept your blessings in whatever way you send them. In your love and wisdom prepare us for the day when you will take us to be with you forever. C: Hear us for Jesus sake. Amen. OFFERING HYMN: CW 243 Oh, Worship the King 4 M: Blessed Lord, you have given us your Holy Scriptures for our learning. May we so hear them, read, learn, and take them to heart, that being strengthened and comforted by your holy Word, we may cling to the blessed hope of everlasting life, through Jesus Christ, our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. 9

M: Give your Word power as it works in our hearts and minds. Clear away our confusion and demolish our doubts. Destroy the apathy that often attacks us. Send your Spirit to strengthen our confidence in your promises and our desire to live according to your will. C: Take away our love of sinning and restore us each day by your grace. M: The signs of the times warn us that the end of time is near. Protect us from skeptics and deceivers who sneer at your truth. Spare us and Christians around the world from all forms of hate and persecution. Keep your Word pure among us and guard us against the attacks of Satan. C: Give us courage to carry the cross with patience and joy. M: Fill us with honest realism to recognize that your Son may return at any time. Cure us of complacency and keep us alert for his coming. Convince us that the terrors and troubles around us predict the final days of our world. C: As we wait for Christ, lead us to the comfort of your Word. M: When we stand before you at the Last Judgment, look away from our sins and hold in your heart the perfect sacrifice of your Son, our Savior Jesus. Keep your promise and judge us by his merits so that we may gain the paradise he gained for all. C: Keep our faith focused on Jesus as we approach your holy throne. M: Instill in the hearts of our children a desire to follow you as they prepare for life. Help them distinguish between what is passing and eternal, between instant thrills and lasting joy. Encourage more young people to prepare for service in the public ministry of the gospel. C: Mold us and move us to be authentic examples for our youth. 8 M: The Lord be with you. C: And also with you. M: Let us pray. The Word Lord God Almighty, so rule and govern our hearts and minds by your Holy Spirit that we may always look forward to the end of this present evil age and to the day of your righteous judgment. Keep us steadfast in true and living faith and present us at last holy and blameless before you; through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. 5

I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried.
