A BLESSING SHOULD INCLUDE... 1. An Affirmation of High Value Communicate to your grandchild that they are something special, and that you value them highly. Pick out a particular trait you wish to emphasize and express how you value that trait. You may want to use word pictures to express the value you place on your grandchild. 2. A Picture of a Special Future This is a reflection of how well you know your grandchildren and the gifts and interests they have already developed. The idea is to express to your grandchild an expectation of success and accomplishment, not for worldly gain, but as God has already purposed for them. You are saying, AI believe in you and expect you to succeed in that which God has purposed for you.@ 3. An Active Commitment It great to give blessing to our children and grandchildren, but now we must demonstrate our willing to stand with them and walk them in the journey ahead. Inconsistency and lack of follow through will tend to negative any positive reinforcement you may communicate verbally. 4. Be Brief and Succinct Don=t worry about all the details of someone=s life or another=s example. Keep your statement to no more than 180 words. Capture the essence of what you want to say and say it so they will remember it.

for Thomas Granville Lane Born June 1, 1997 Thomas Granville Lane, son of Brian and Alisa Lane, welcome to the Lane and Harper families. I cannot begin to tell you how much your grandmother and I are thrilled to have you with us. We have anticipated your arrival with great eagerness, and you have not disappointed us at all. Though you came into this world through much hardship and pain, you have been received with much joy and delight! With the same measure of struggle and determination with which you have entered this life, so shall your measure of courage, strength and perseverance be in the service of your Creator, Lord and Savior. And unlike the Thomas of the New Testament, who had to touch the Master before he could believe, you shall know the blessing and anointing of God in a special way because you will be Thomas who walks by faith, not by sight. You are Thomas, which means Aseeker of truth@, and so shall you be a man who passionately seeks after God and His truth, and who boldly walks by faith in it. As a man of faith-- a seeker of truth, you will know the reward and cost of following Christ in a hostile world. With God as your help, you will be strong and courageous, not fearing man, but trusting God with your whole heart. You are blessed with parents who love you and who love the Lord. They have chosen to build their marriage and family upon the foundation of faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, a foundation that will not crumble. Learn from their example, heed their instruction, and imitate their faith, for in so much as their love grows and endures for one another and the Lord, so shall this blessing be fulfilled in you. We love you, Thomas Granville, and we will promise to pray for you, your parents, and your place in God=s Kingdom as you grow in wisdom, grace and truth. WITH ALL OUR LOVE, Your Proud and Grateful Grandparents Cavin and Diane Harper

A Blessing for Brian and Alisa As new parents of Thomas Granville, we are especially proud of you and our new grandson. This is our blessing upon you as you begin the challenging and rewarding task of training this gift from God in the way he should go. ALISA, we are especially proud of you as our daughter. Watching you as you braved an extremely difficult delivery with courage, determination and cheerfulness gave us a new appreciation for your strength of will and ability to face difficulty with perseverance and grace. You will bring a special ability to lovingly nurture your son so that he will understand tenderness and kindness, but you will also be for him a tower of strength from which he will learn courage and determination in the face of difficulty. May he always see in you a love that is rooted in who he is, not what he does, and may he always know the power and strength of your faith in God through Jesus Christ. You will be blessed if you raise and train him to love the Lord and prepare him to leave your home to follow the path God has prepared for him. BRIAN, we are pleased and proud to have you as our son-in-law, and we ask God to give you wisdom and courage to lead your home according to His will and purpose for a family. You are blessed with an incredible ability to love unconditionally, enjoy life, and to persevere through difficult circumstances. Your greatest blessing and contribution will be to teach your son to love what is good and hate what is evil, to love those who are hard to love, to persevere in all things with hope and faith, and to live life passionately. May he always see in you a man who walks by faith and loves the Lord God with your whole heart, soul, mind and strength. You are his best example of our Heavenly Father=s love and grace. Bless him with your life and praise. As young Thomas= grandparents, we want you to know that we love you, that we will commit to pray regularly for you and Thomas, and that we will stand with you in every circumstance to the honor and glory of God. We are proud of you both! WITH LOVE AND BLESSING, Dad and Mom Harper

A Grandparent=s Blessing For Wesley Allen Lane Born May 18, 1999 Wesley Allen Lane, son of Brian and Alisa Lane, welcome to the Lane and Harper families. You may not know it, but your arrival in this world was greeted with concerns about the condition of your heart, and our hearts were drawn to God in prayer on your behalf. God answered our prayers, and now your heart is strong. May the real strength of your heart be that it is always drawn to God C that, like David, you will be a man after God=s own heart. You were longer coming into this world than we expected. May it be that you will be a man of patience, perseverance and grace. And like the great AWesleys@ who lived before you, may you be a man of faith full of the Holy Spirit. May truth guide your steps, and may grace protect them. As your maternal grandparents, Wesley, we offer our blessing upon you. We pray that you will understand and rejoice in the blessings of God in your life. As you are blessed, may you be a blessing to your family and all those whose lives you touch. You are already blessed with parents who love you. In this home you will find a solid foundation of faith and love which is rooted in the love and grace of Christ. May you also walk in it. May you also love your brother, Thomas, as we know he will love you. Learn from each other, bless each other, protect each other. We love you, Wesley, and are proud to be your grandparents. With all our love, Papa and Nana Harper

Ruth Ann, A Grandparents Blessing for Our Granddaughter Ruth Ann Carroll June 24, 2004 You are growing up to be a lovely young woman with your gentle, quiet spirit which is very precious to the Lord. You are a bouncy girl who love to run and do gymnastics. You are always full of energy. You love your kittens and stuffed animals. You enjoy all things which glitter and sparkle on your clothes, the pretty colors of nail polish, and even lotion you put on your face to make it shine. You remind Grandma and Grandpa of a lovely butterfly just opening its brand new wings and entering a world full of wonder and fascination B with dreams and goals yet in question, but with the potential of vibrance and new life breaking forth. Grandpa especially sees nursing qualities developing in you. It is our prayer that, just as you enjoy the glitter of make-up, your life will also show forth a true beauty found only through knowing Christ in a very personal way. Always ALet The Beauty of Jesus Be Seen In You@ (the title of a hymn we hope you will memorize). Even Psalm 45:11 says that the King, or God Himself, will desire your beauty as you learn to become obedient to Him. Grandma and Grandpa love you very much, and enjoy praying for you each day. You are very special and very beautiful to us, and you add sparkle to our lives. We want you to know we will always be available for you. Love, Grandpa and Grandma Elliott

for Our Grandson Joshua Carroll June 24, 2004 Joshua, Grandpa Jerry has observed that you are maturing quite well in all aspects of your life. For example, as a member of your baseball team, you are keeping your eye on the game as you maintain an even temperament toward your teammates. When you are up to bat, you concentrate on looking the ball into the bat! When in the field you always look the ball into the glove! Grandpa also observes that you are very helpful to others, both younger and older. You show the ability to give to others willingly. An example that is outstanding is that of sharing funds you earned for yourself so you could go to church camp. You continued to earn more so a friend could attend camp with you! Grandpa is proud of you for memorizing Scripture, hiding it in your heart, and reading your Bible diligently. Just as you become a better baseball player with practice, so are the elementary principles of God=s Word able to lead you to maturity as you practice them. We sense you are becoming a stable, productive person with a real sensitivity to others= needs. We both love you very much, pray for you daily, and will always be available when you need us. You are a joy to us. Read Hebrews 5:14; 6:1a. Love, Grandpa and Grandma Elliott

You like to be busy making things, playing the piano, taking dance classes, painting, playing with your brothers or friends, playing games (and winning a lot), and doing things with Mom and Dad. We see in you the prospect of working with people teaching, nursing, doctoring, or some kind of ministry. You will find what God has planned for you as you walk with Him throughout your life. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your paths. Proverbs 3:6 Grammy and Grandad look forward to many happy times with you. We will be there for you. Thank you for letting us be a part of your life. We love you very much. Grammy and Grandad Oliver

We have watched you in all of these times, and we are thankful you live near us so we can be there. You have a very loving personality, and you verbalize your love to Mom, Dad, and all of us. We like that about you. God made you for a purpose right now it is to enjoy life, learn and for your family to enjoy you. Be yourself, always, for that is the best for all of us and for God. You have a caring spirit toward others and can give very good hugs. Born in Dodge City, Kansas, we have watched you grow. Grammy and Grandad have been privileged to watch you in many ways playing soccer, basketball, baseball, and playing the piano. It brings us great joy to watch you as a competitive person, but most of all we like your hugs. We know the Lord has great plans for you and we trust you will always be where you can serve Him to the fullest. We want you to know that Grammy and Grandad will always love you. We will always do our best to support you and be there for you. We are very proud of you. We love you very much, Grammy and Grandad Oliver

For Our Grandson Ryan Welliver Ryan, we all knew you would be special and you are. You prove yourself over and over in ways many know nothing about. You first say, I can do it, and if not, you work so hard trying. You give it your best. You give us your best. Our church family recognizes your smile and enthusiasm, and glory in it with us. Your love for sports shows us how to enjoy them without participation. I am proud of how much you have accomplished. Frustration is always there, but you are learning how to deal with it, and sometimes, to just let go of it. We receive joy from being part of your life. You are growing in size and your spiritual life as well. You love God and your family, and are loved by God and your family. Always be strong in the Lord. Love you always, Grani and Papa Dowell

For Our Grandson Ryan N. Schoene Ryan, you are indeed a special person! You are the first grandson, and you are filled with energy and enthusiasm! You are a natural leader. We also know that God has given you a very tender and caring heart. You love people and you have no constraints around others. We pray tht you will allow the Lord to channel your zest and joy for life into a true zeal for the Lord and whatever He may have in store for your life. We ask God s richest blessings upon you as you continue to grow both physically and spiritually into a man after God s own heart. May you always be strong in the Lord. May your zeal for the Lord lead you into truth, and may that truth lead you into maturity and wisdom. We love you, Opa and Barb

For Our Granddaughter Rebecca G. Schoene Rebecca, you are a very special person. You are the first granddaughter. You bring joy into our lives. You have an interest in all that is going on around you. You have a desire to write and we encourage this in you. When you were born, you cried while others wept for joy. May you so live your life so that when you pass on others will cry and you will shout for joy. God has a purpose for your life and He will use all the abilities He has built into you. Rebecca, God has blessed you with an outer beauty. This beauty, however, fades in comparison to the inner beauty of Christ within you! We will be praying that you will always be the loving and caring person you are now. May the Lord use you to bring peace and happiness to many people. Following God s leading and direction will bring you the greatest happiness and joy in life. We love you, Opa and Barb

For Our Granddaughter Greta Lausch Greta, You are precious to us and to the Lord. You were our long awaited granddaughter. God has given you a very creative mind. Greta, you are intuitive, inquisitive, and very neat and tidy. As your grandparents, we pray that you will allow the Lord to lead you and guide you in the way that you should go. We ask for the Lord s blessings upon you as you grow to be a woman after God s own heart. Now that you, Greta, know these things, you will be blessed if you do them. We will love you forever, Grandpa and Grandma Chapin

For Our Grandson Jack Lausch Jack, You are precious to us and to the Lord. You were our long awaited first grandson. God has given you much knowledge. May you, Jack, grow in wisdom as well. You are firm and serious, and a natural leader. As your grandparents, we pray that you will allow the Lord to lead you and guide you in the way that you should go. We ask for the Lord s blessing upon you as you grow to be a man after God s own heart. For God so loved Jack, that He gave His one and only Son so that, because Jack believes in God, he will not perish, but have eternal life. We will love you forever, Grandpa and Grandma Chapin

for Our Grandson Thomas Lane Thomas, you are indeed something special! As our first grandchild, we were filled with pride, joy and excitement when you were born. God has given you a zest and enthusiasm for life that is evident in all you do, so much so it is hard for you to contain it. We also know that God has given you a very tender and caring heart. We see your love for people and your delight in making friends. As your grandparents, we pray that you will allow the Lord to channel your enthusiasm and joy for life into an exuberant enthusiasm for the Lord and His Word. We do ask for God s blessings upon you as you grow, not in order to avoid difficulties, but that you may understand God s love for you in the midst of them when they come. May you always be strong in the Lord, and as your names implies, a seeker of truth. May truth be the foundation of all you do, and may you grow, not just in knowledge, but also in wisdom in the Lord. God has already prepared His purposes for you. We pray you will choose to walk in them always, and we pledge to stand with you in your journey. We love you, Papa and Nana Harper

For Our Grandson Mike Chapin Mike, You are precious to us and to the Lord. You were our long awaited grandson. God has given you much strength. You are daring and unafraid. May you, Mike, continue to take on any kind of challenge. As your grandparents, we pray that you will allow the Lord to lead you and guide you in the way that you should go. We ask for the Lord s blessing upon you as you grow to be a man after God s own heart. Hear, O Mike, the Lord our God, the Lord is One. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and all your strength. These commandments the Lord gives you today are to be upon your heart. We will love you forever, Grandpa and Grandma Chapin

For Our Granddaughter Jaimee Lynn Hamm Jaimee Lynn, As I write these words, I see a vivacious young lady in the offing. At 8 years old you show a love for others that has to be a gift from God. Your parents love you, and your grandmother Carol is way up there in praise of you with a desire to see you as a Christian example and blessing to any you may touch. Your Grandma and Grandpa Hamm and great Grandma Hamm also share in the desire for your future. May you put God first in every decision that you make. If you do, I guarantee your life will be a blessing, not only to you, but to everyone you come to meet. God bless you! Your GREAT Grandpa, Paul

Garrett, A Grandparents Blessing For Our Grandson Garrett Hamm I was there shortly after you were born in the hospital room at St. Johns. Your mother offered to let me hold you, but I had a cold and let Grandma Elta get that blessing. Remember? I participated in your Dedication at Parkway Church shortly thereafter. I had the honor of giving a prayer for your future. Remember? Of course not, you were too little! I don t remember exactly what I prayed then, but my desire for your future is the same now as I write these words to a six year old lad full of vim and vigor. My life expectancy is short compared to yours, but my desire for you hasn t changed a bit. I wish you to be a man of God above everything else. Seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all the things you will have need of will follow from God s hand. Your loving GREAT Grandfather, Paul

For Our Grandson William Grady Whiteman Grady, While you were yet in your mother s womb, the blessings had already begun in your Grandma s and my heart. Grady, your presence has brought all joy as we have watched you grow, taken your first steps, and spoken your first words. Your hurts have been our hurts, and we shared in your laughter. Grady, your accepting Jesus Christ into your heart and life was an answer to daily prayer. Our prayers for you now are for God s watchful care over you. May He protect you during these young years, and may you grow up physically, mentally, and spiritually strong. Whatever you choose to do in life, may you always be God s man, and let the light within you shine before family and other people. Grady, with thanksgiving in our hearts, we are thankful to God for being allowed to be part of your life. Grandma and Grandpa Calahan
