WELCOME & ANNOUNCEMENTS Sam Palpant PRELUDE "Adante Religioso" Organ Francis Thomé Sam Palpant Look at the heavens! They are shouting the glory of God. The days and the nights declare the magnificence of God s creative works. Their voice goes through all the earth and their words reach the ends of the world. Let our words of praise be acceptable to you. Our Lord, our rock, our redeemer! CALL TO WORSHIP Reprinted by permission of Westminster John Knox Press from Feasting on the Word worship Companion. 2015 *SONG OF WORSHIP: CROWN HIM WITH MANY CROWNS (Hymn #92) Crown him with many crowns, the Lamb upon his throne; hark! how the heavenly anthem drowns all music but its own; awake, my soul, and sing of him who died for thee, and hail him as thy matchless king through all eternity. (VERSE 2) Crown him the Lord of life, who triumphed o er the grave, and rose victorious in the strife for those he came to save; his glories now we sing who died and rose on high, who died eternal life to bring, and lives that death may die.
(VERSE 3) Crown him the Lord of love; behold his hands and side, rich wounds, yet visible above, in beauty glorified; No angels in the sky can fully bear that sight, but downward bend their burning eyes at mysteries so bright. (VERSE 4) Crown him the Lord of years, the potentate of time, creator of the rolling spheres, ineffably sublime. All hail, Redeemer, hail! For thou hast died for me; thy praise shall never, never fail throughout eternity. I WILL SING OF THE MERCIES (Hymn #30) I will sing, I will sing. I will sing of the mercies of the Lord. With my mouth will I make known your faithfulness, your faithfulness; with my mouth will I make known your faithfulness to all generations. I will sing of the mercies of the Lord. (VERSE 2) All the hosts of the angels sing God s praise forever for the things he has done. All the hosts of the angels sing God s praise forever, all the hosts of the angels sing God s praise. Who can be compared to God in faithfulness, in faithfulness? Who can be compared to God in faithfulness to all generations? I will sing of the mercies of the Lord. TIME OF PRAYER Prayer of Confession Mike Helland
Almighty and merciful God, we have erred and strayed from your ways like lost sheep. We have followed too much the devices and desires of our own hearts. We have offended against your holy laws. We have left undone those things which we ought to have done; and we have done those things which we ought not to have done. O Lord, have mercy upon us. Spare those who confess their faults. Restore those who are penitent, according to your promises declared to the world in Christ Jesus, our Lord. And grant, O merciful God, for his sake, that we may live a holy, just, and humble life to the glory of your holy name. Amen. [Silent Prayer] Assurance of Pardon But he said to me, My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness. 2 Corinthians. 12:9a (NIV) Thanks be to God! SONG OF WORSHIP: JESUS PAID IT ALL (Hymn #489) I hear the Savior say, Thy strength indeed is small; child of weakness, watch and pray, find in me thine all in all. Sin had left a crimson stain, he washed it white as snow. (VERSE 2) Lord, now indeed I find thy power, and thine alone, can change the leper s spots and melt the heart of stone.
Sin had left a crimson stain, he washed it white as snow. (VERSE 3) For nothing good have I whereby thy grace to claim I ll wash my garments white in the blood of Calvary s Lamb. Sin had left a crimson stain, he washed it white as snow. (VERSE 4) And when before the throne I stand in him complete, Jesus died my soul to save, my lips shall still repeat. Sin had left a crimson stain, he washed it white as snow. OFFERING OF OURSELVES & OUR GIFTS: Faith McCallum Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this, says the Lord Almighty, and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it. Malachi 3:10 (NIV) *Doxology Praise God from whom all blessings flow; Praise him, all creatures here below Praise him above ye heavenly host; Praise Father, Son and Holy Ghost. Amen. Bringing our gifts forward and/or lighting a candle At this time the children are excused to attend Junior Chapel. Offertory "Poeme" Organ Zdenko Fibich PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE Rev. Don Meekhof READING OF THE SCRIPTURES Romans 7:15 20 (NIV) Faith McCallum 15 I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do. 16 And if I do what I do not want to do, I agree that the law is good. 17 As it is, it is no longer I myself who do it, but it is sin living in me. 18 For I know that
good itself does not dwell in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. 19 For I do not do the good I want to do, but the evil I do not want to do this I keep on doing. 20 Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it. Deuteronomy 7:8 (NIV) Ruby Bostrom 8 But it was because the Lord loved you and kept the oath he swore to your ancestors that he brought you out with a mighty hand and redeemed you from the land of slavery, from the power of Pharaoh king of Egypt. Jesus! Lover of my soul; friends may fail me, foes assail me, he, my Savior, makes me whole.
(VERSE 2) Jesus! what a Strength in weakness! Let me hide myself in him; tempted, tried, and sometimes failing, he, my Strength, my victory wins. (VERSE 3) Jesus! what a Help in sorrow! While the billows o er me roll, even when my heart is breaking, he, my Comfort, helps my soul. (VERSE 4) Jesus! what a Guide and Keeper! While the tempest still is high, storms about me, night o ertakes me, he, my Pilot, hears my cry. (VERSE 5) Jesus! I do now receive him, more than all in him I find, he has granted me forgiveness, I am his, and he is mine.
