Saturday, March 3 Departure Depart from the U.S. on a transatlantic fl ight to Tel Aviv. Sunday, March 4 Arrival / Coastal Touring Arrive in Tel Aviv mid-morning and meet the driver and guide. Drive along the seacoast to Caesarea Maritima to see Herod the Great s magnifi cent Roman city. Visit the harbor, theater and aqueduct of the city where Peter explained the way of salvation to Cornelius. Drive north along the coastline to Mt. Carmel where Elijah challenged the prophets of Baal, proving the God of Israel was the one true God. Continue inland for dinner and overnight at the Ramot Nofesh Resort, located along the Sea of Galilee. Monday, March 5 Galilee Area Drive to the Yigal Allon Jesus Boat Museum to see the remains of a fi rst century boat found in the lakebed during a drought in the 80s. From the museum, walk to the docks, board a boat and sail on the Sea of Galilee in a craft modeled after fi rst century boats. Next, drive to Capernaum to visit the synagogue and the location where early Christians say Peter s house was located. Ascend the Mt. of Beatitudes, and listen to Jesus teachings. Walk downhill to Tabgha to visit the Church of the Loaves and Fishes. Visit the Church of St. Peter s Primacy at the northwestern shore of the lake, an area intense with Christian memories. Drive to Caesarea Philippi (Banias) where Peter confessed his recognition of Jesus as the Christ. Enjoy a nature walk at Tel Dan and visit the high place where Jeroboam set up a golden calf. Return to the Ramot for dinner and overnight. Tuesday, March 6 Galilee Area Depart Tiberias this morning and drive to Megiddo, a strategic location along the trade route running from Egypt to Mesopotamia. Megiddo overlooks the Jezreel Valley and approximately 26 levels have been uncovered during excavations. Explore these excavations which include Ahab s stables, a grain silo and the fascinating water system. Walk through the vertical shaft and tunnel of this water system to a spring located outside the city walls and hidden from enemy attack. Drive to Jesus boyhood hometown of Nazareth, viewing the present day city from Mount Precipice, where the townsfolk tried to throw Jesus off the cliff. From here, view the mountain of Tabor and remember the story of Deborah (prophetess and judge of Israel), Barak and Yael, where she led the Israelites to victory. In Nazareth, visit the Church of the Annunciation, the Synagogue Church and Mary s Well. Continue to Magdala to visit the excavations of the ancient synagogue unearthed there. Magdala is believed to be the hometown of Mary Magdalene. Archeological evidence indicates that it is very likely that Jesus would have taught in this synagogue. Return to the Ramot for dinner and overnight. Wednesday, March 7 Tiberias Jerusalem Visit the mount of Beth Shean, hearing the story of Saul and viewing the ruins of Roman Scythopolis. Drive south through the Jordan Valley, viewing the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan across the Jordan River. After viewing the Golden Gate, follow the traditional Palm Sunday route to the church known as Dominus Flevit ( the Lord weeps ). Continue downhill to Gethsemane for a private visit to the garden. Thursday, March 8 Jerusalem Today is spent in the Old City, beginning at the Temple Mount area. See the Pools of Bethesda and St. Anne s Church, then walk the Via Dolorosa (Way of the Cross) stopping at many of the various Stations of the Cross, walking all the way to the Church of the Holy Sepulcher. Explore the Byzantine main street (Cardo) and the Broad Wall of King Hezekiah. Visit the Western Wall, Judaism s holiest site. At the Southern Steps, stand on the steps that Jesus and His disciples climbed to the Temple Mount. Walk through the Western Wall Tunnel, where additional portions of the wall, as well as other structures beneath it, have been excavated. Overnight at the David Citadel Hotel. Friday, March 9 Jerusalem / Bethlehem Today, visit the Church of St. Peter in Gallicantu which commemorates Peter s denial of Jesus during the trial of Jesus held at the house of Caiaphas. Next is a visit to Mount Zion to see the Upper Room. Travel to Beit Sahour to see the Shepherd s Fields before continuing to Bethlehem, the birthplace of Jesus. See the Church of the Nativity believed to be built over the site of Jesus birth. Bethlehem is an excellent place to buy items that are hand carved from olive wood. Overnight at the David Citadel Hotel. Saturday, March 10 Dead Sea Area Drive along the Dead Sea this morning to Masada. Take a cable car to the top of this high plateau fortifi ed by Herod the Great and the last stronghold of the Zealots in their rebellion against Rome. Stop at the nature reserve of En Gedi, the region where David fl ed and hid from Saul and cut off a part of Saul s robe in a cave. There will be time for swimming or hiking in the nature reserve. Visit Qumran and view Cave #4, which contained the greatest quantity of the Dead Sea Scrolls. Return to Jerusalem for communion at the Garden Tomb. Dinner and overnight at the David Citadel. Sunday, March 11 Jerusalem Visit Hezekiah s Tunnel this morning where one may walk through the illuminated tunnels where water has fl owed since the time of the prophets. The Tunnel, part of Jerusalem s water system, is located under the City of David and connects to the Gihon Spring Jerusalem s fresh water supply. The tunnel was dug to redirect water into the city during the reign of King Hezekiah in preparation against the invading Assyrian army s attack on Jerusalem. Next, visit the Shrine of the Book which houses many of the Dead Sea Scrolls. Continue to Visit the Model of Jerusalem representing how the city looked on the eve of the Jewish revolt, 36 years after the Passion of Jesus. Stop to visit the Holocaust Museum, Yad Vashem. Return to the David Citadel for dinner and overnight before transferring to the airport for the return home. Those who are participating in the Jordan extension will remain at the David Citadel for overnight. Monday, March 12 Depart Israel Those who chose not to participate in the Jordan Extension left Israel late last night and arrive in the U.S. early this morning. Jordan Extension The group traveling on to Jordan will transfer to the Allenby Bridge, bid farewell to our Israeli guide and driver and cross over into Jordan. Drive up to Mt. Nebo and experience the view of Israel that Moses had before the children of Israel crossed into the promised land after 40 years of wandering in the wilderness. View the sculpture which represents the staff and serpent God had Moses erect to heal the people of snake bites. Continue on to the town of Madaba to visit the Church of St. George and

view the remains of the Madaba Map, a beautiful mosaic map of the Holy Land as early Christian pilgrims would have known it.
