Meanwhile her husband Arend has his own concerns about the cancer in his liver. Pray for God s strength to carry them through these rather trying times also as they are apart from one another. also were able to learn more about how to spread God's love to girls in a world that is constantly seeking to shatter their selfesteem and steer them in the wrong direction. This year's theme is Be A Blessing and we are excited to show the girls that God blesses them and have them be a blessing to others. CCRC GEMS Dear Congregation, Thank you for your prayers as we attended the GEMS Conference. It was a refreshing weekend, as we took part in worship lead by Coleen and Grace and attended workshops. We were able to celebrate GEMS' 60th birthday with other GEMS clubs from around the world. Not only did we have fun, but we Church Camping: This weekend a number of our members are camping at Wildwood Conservation Area in St. Mary s, Ontario. Birthright has been providing love and support for over 50 years to women facing unplanned pregnancies with centres across Canada and the United States, and in Africa, as well as a 24/7 North American toll-free Helpline. Next week our offering is for Pastor Church Resources. Pastor Church Resources supports congregations and their leaders in times of transition and discernment by providing consultations and resources that foster personal and communal health. COMMUNITY CHURCH NEWS Fall Retreat Register for Fall Retreat today to get the Super Early Bird rate of $165 which is available until August 5. Students entering Grades 9-12 are encouraged to attend this annual retreat which takes place from Friday, September 28-Sunday, September 30 at Muskoka Woods. New this year: instead of receiving a subsidy to offset the registration cost, those monies will be used to provide transportation to and from the retreat. In your mailbox is a letter from Council concerning the disability awareness training, safe church policy training, and emergency and fire safety training that is once again a requirement (an annual requirement) for volunteering at CCRC. Three duplicate dates have been set aside for such training (Wednesday, August 29, Thursday, September 6 and Monday, September 10). If you are an officebearer or volunteering in any of the ministries at CCRC you are asked to pick one of those three dates and come for an evening of awareness training in the areas mentioned. If you have any questions you can direct them to Pastor Carel or any member of the Safe Church Team. Refugee Apartment: The K family are happily completing the requirements to move to Canada. They had their medicals this week and therefore, are one step closer to coming. With that in mind, we are looking for housing for them. They need a 2 bedroom apartment, close to transit and amenities. They also have a very limited budget. If you know of anything available, please contact Darlene B or Mary and John V. STAFF INFORMATION The Church Office will be closed Monday, August 6 due to the long weekend. Donna V is on vacation from July 25 August 14. While she is away, Sarah Gwill be looking after things in the office. Sarah will be in the office on a part-time basis and her hours will be flexible. Pastor John Medendorp will be on vacation from August 6 August 20. Community CRC is seeking a full-time worship coordinator. If you know of anyone who would be a good fit for this position, please encourage them to send their resume and cover letter to clerk@ccrc.on.ca.
