Ministry Teams at Montrose Zion UMC Angelus Bell Choir -- An adult handbell choir that rings traditional music for the 9:00 am service once per month and occasional special events like visiting nursing homes. Assistants for Children's Faith Development -- Be a part of the great Childrens Faith Development ministry at MZ! AV Tech Team -- We are in great need of people willing to help with the technical/visual elements of our Sunday services. Training provided. Bell Crier's Ensemble Join an adult handbell ensemble that rings contemporary and traditional music for the 11:00 am service and at other churches and facilities for musical outreach. Care Packages for Students -- This is our fall outreach to college students. It serves as a reminder that they are missed and loved. Choir -- Join the Choir and serve with others who love music. Joint rehearsals may be with Copley United Methodist Church. Communion Help serve Communion elements once a month or on a rotating basis. Dresses for Haiti -- Sew dresses from simple patterns for young girls in Haiti. Greeters and Welcome Desk -- Be the first face that greets those arriving for Sunday services at Montrose Zion. Help newcomers learn more about MZ. Haiti Micro Loan -- We are fundraising and setting up the structure for creating a faith-based micro loan in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. Haiti Mission Outreach -- Past mission trips to Haiti included work at a local church and medical clinic, getting to know the immediate neighborhood and girls at an orphanage, and distribution of supplies. Junior High Assistants -- Adults who would like to instruct youth in grades 5-8 are welcome to learn about our fun and important curriculum with the intent of developing the faith of the youth. 3
Junior High Mission Trip -- Grow your faith while participating in a local mission. Past missions were held in the Kenmore area of Akron, and youth helped rehabilitate houses. Kitchen Krew -- The Kitchen Krew helps with Wednesday EDEN Eve dinners and any other special events. Leaders for Special Youth Events -- Youth participate in several events throughout the year. Some of these may include a lock-down, Laser Quest, Pinnacle Sports, formal Christian events - - all designed to have fun and strengthen one's faith. Liturgist -- Volunteers are needed to read the Scripture during worship service. Nursery -- Be a part of the great Childrens Faith Development ministry at MZ! Office Help -- Office activities may include answering phones, providing office help (folding bulletins) and any other necessary jobs. OPEN-M Lunch -- OPEN-M offers a variety of services in the Akron community. MZ periodically helps to serve a hot lunch, and collects food items for distribution in the community. Pastoral Care -- We support the Visitation Pastors and Staff by visiting members of MZUMC in nursing homes, at home or long-term care facilities, and in hospitals/hospice, on a weekly to monthly basis. Training is available. Praise Team -- Join the Praise Team and serve with others who love music Prayer Ministry -- Prayer is a powerful tool! Join this ministry to make a difference in someone's life, praise God, and lift up those in need. This ministry welcomes servants for a Prayer Chain, the Prayer Room and our Texting Prayer Chain. Project Linus -- No-sew fleece blankets are made for Childrens Hospital Sanctuary Prep Help to prepare our Sunday worship area and make our worship a visually pleasing experience. Seasonal Decorating -- MZ needs that special touch for Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter, and during the Christmas and Easter seasons. Join the team that makes MZ a visually-inviting place! 4
Senior High Assistants -- Adults who would like to instruct youth in grades 9-12 are welcome to learn about our fun and important curriculum with the intent of developing the faith of the youth. Senior High Mission Trip -- Grow your faith while participating in an out-of-state mission. The Youth have partnered with YouthWorks in NYC, Nashville, Chicago, and Hilton Head. Shawl Ministry -- We provide shawls and lap robes as tangible representations of prayer for members of the church family who are ill or grieving. We also provide hats for area children through Children's Services. Teachers for Children's Faith Development -- Be a part of the great Childrens Faith Development ministry at MZ! United Methodist Women -- We gather as a community of women to know God and Jesus Christ, to enjoy fellowship and support one another, and to participate in missions for women, children, and youth. Urban Vision -- Urban Vision is a Christ-centered ministry serving children, youth and their families in an impoverished neighborhood in the North Hill area of Akron. The organization provides opportunities for neighborhood children to receive after school tutoring and supplemental learning through the several programs they offer. These efforts have allowed many students to improve in their scholastic proficiency. Students have also been provided instruction in several electives including Bible quiz, Bible study, ballet, instrumental music, leadership, art, and athletics. Ushers -- Help greet and pass out bulletins to those attending services, assist with collection. Youth Chime Choir -- A handchime choir for young ringers that rehearses during Eden Eve, plays in church a few times each year, and occasionally rings at nursing homes. 5
