Wow, our newsletter is simply bursting at the seams this month! There are so many unique ways we can steward all the different skills and resources the Spirit has poured upon us and live out faith, which is absolutely marvelous! And like St John LC in Passaic, NJ (see the Stories of Faith in Action article at the end) we are allowing God to stretch us in new and transformative ways. For instance, the Sunday Funday the Family Committee has started to plan and the exploration of a possible community garden by another group, both aiming to serve and intentionally build relationships with people in the wider community. Both began as seeds. I for one can t wait to see what the Spirit does with them! May you all have a very safe, enjoyable and blessed 4 th of July celebrations!! The 15th annual Trinity Star Island service will be on Sunday, August 5 at 8 AM. Pastor Amanda will celebrate for the first time the casual service on the south shore of Star Island Cass Lake. Boat transportation will be available but you will need to sign up in the lobby so we know how many boats will be needed. Please be at the Sail Star Marina at 7:30 AM for the ride over. All are welcome, refreshments afterwards. Thank you to the anonymous donor who provided carnations for the mothers on Mother s Day. The flowers were most appreciated. God Bless our church family of caring individuals. Mission trip opportunities Pr Mark and Brenda Wagner will be here Tues Aug 7 at 5:30 pm to talk and answer questions about two of the three opportunities (Honduras and India) our synod offers for mission trips. Even if you're not sure if this is something you want to do, it doesn't hurt to attend and see what they have to share! All are welcome. Rib Fest Church Float You are invited to join our sisters and brothers from other Cass Lake area faith communities at Alliance Church (on 2nd St) Fri July 13 at July 29 is the fifth Sunday of the month. We will have a healing service during the worship service. Pr Amanda will be taking vacation days in July. Pr Bill Beyer will be on call for her days off and vacation days July 10-15 and July 25-Aug 2. Pr Bill will also be preaching and presiding July 15 and July 29. We are glad to have him back for this short period of time. Maintenance Needs Pr Bill Beyer can be reached at (218)333-3958

Maintenance Needs The Board of Trustees is looking for an individual to help out this summer with the maintenance of our riding lawn mower. We have someone willing to do the actual mowing, but have a need for someone to periodically check the mower and do recommended maintenance including oil changes, blade sharpening and other tasks as needed. If you could help out with this please contact Lon Christianson. Happy 4 th of July A big THANK YOU to everyone who helped out on the Work Bee Sunday. So much was accomplished in cleaning and organizing our church building. Several comments were received that indicated it was fun to spend time with one another, doing something different and enjoying a nice lunch, and LET's DO IT AGAIN. Thanks to everyone for participating. Check out the pictures of this event on our web page!! Also a note of thanks to Isaac Kamrud (and MaryAnne) for coming out of retirement and fixing our door lock problems. Our keys now work just like they are supposed to; Isaac proved he still has it!!! Salad Luncheon: at Trinity 11am 1pm Thursday, August 2 Freedom As we honor the costly gift of freedom this month, we thank all those within and beyond Trinity who have and who are currently serving in the armed forces. Bread for the World s 2018 Offering of Letters Thank You to all of you who participated in Bread for the World s 2018 Offering of Letters by writing letters to Congress. I am sure that our efforts will make a difference and help nourish people not only in our country but around the world. God wants us to help and love others, this is an answer to that call. God Bless you all. - Tom Shepherd Church Financials Trinity's General Fund financial results will now be published in both the monthly newsletter, as well as in the Sunday bulletin on the first or second Sunday of each month. The Board of Trustees felt as entrusted stewards of God s gift of money, it is important that this information be shared, and available for members, even if they were not able to attend Sunday worship services. If you have any questions on the information please feel free to talk to any of the Board of Trustee members. Ministry Opportunities Prayer Shawl ministry and crocheting and knitting classes Think about a time when you could feel others' prayers that enveloped you at a critical moment in your life. Powerful isn't it? In that spirit, we are going to start up a prayer shawl ministry. What's that you ask? Well it's simply disciples of Christ crafting shawls to give to others, perhaps for significant life events such as baptism or retirement, or for any time of celebration or mourning. The idea is that the person will be literally wrapped in prayer, because as they are made a prayer is being said for the recipient. If you're interested in participating, but don't know how to crochet or knit, Susan Schultz and Marianne Kamrud are graciously offering a class on crocheting and knitting. Marianne will lead a class on knitting on Mon July 16 at 1:30 pm, and the date Susan will teach crocheting has yet to be determined. Community Garden: Are you a person who enjoys digging in the dirt? Are you looking for a way to engage and live out your faith in the wider community? Do you have some gardening wisdom you'd like to share with others? If you answered yes to any of these questions, please consider participating in exploring a potentially new ministry called a community garden. Any and all who are interested please see Pr Amanda. You are more than welcome to join us at 9 am on Wed July 18 at Pr Amanda s for our first meeting. needs and to further the work of Christ in our everchanging congregations, our growing and increasingly complex communities. Our mission statement reads: The NE MN Synod, ELCA - School of Lay Ministry s educational opportunities embody the belief in the priesthood of all believers. As baptized Christians and members of the Body of Christ, all have been given gifts to share for the edification of the church. Our programs and educational opportunities strive to help students discover and deepen their own sense of who they are in the Body of Christ and how God calls them to carry forward the Love of Christ in their communities and congregations. We need your input to help guide our advisory council with planning. Please take a few minutes and complete the survey found at: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/yw5jzrg We welcome you to share this link with others in your congregation, lay and clergy alike. Thank you! Each person can apply up to two times a year for a $250 gift card which can be used to cover costs for an educational, fundraising, or service event. As a way to try to balance an ever-growing list, lest it becomes unmanageable, and in caring for those we seek to lift up, we started in Jan to remove names after they have been in the prayers for four weeks, unless they are in long-term treatment. So Pr Amanda will be responding to calls from Aardahl on Fridays and Pr Pete will be on-call on Mondays. In July that will be July 2 nd because Pr Bill Beyer is covering vacation days (see vacation notice). So if you are in urgent need of pastoral care on Mondays, please contact Pr. Pete at (218) 888-4465.
