Summer @ Camp Wapo Save the dates: July 24-29 6th & 8th grade: Ox Lake 7th grade: Camp Wapo - Mainsite Dear Parents, It is a privilege to be with your kids every Wednesday night. Thank you for everything you to do make it possible for them to be a part of Wednesday Night Live. This fall, we have spent time each week looking at the question, Who is Jesus, really? by digging into what God s Word says about who Jesus was and what he did. We have talked about miracles Jesus performed, including the healing of the blind man, calming the storm, and making the paralytic man walk. We discussed the story of Jesus birth and looked at what Scripture really says about the Christmas story. Last week, we had a time of interactive prayer stations where students took time to be still and know that the Lord is God. We have some important discipleship opportunities coming up, including PCYC Christmas Shopping Night, Teens Encounter Christ (9th grade retreat at Calvary), and en Mentor Kick-off, and we will start meeting soon for our Summer Mission Trip. We need your help to make these meaningful, faith-building experiences for students. We are excited to welcome Pastor Jason Roton to the Children, Youth, and Family team starting in January. When I was ministering in Indiana, Jason was a colleague at a nearby church. We met regularly to discuss ministry, discipleship, and life. I believe that he is going to be a great fit for Calvary and will be a tremendous asset in our mission of making disciples who make disciples. As always, if you have any concerns or questions about anything, please don t hesitate to contact me. I d love to meet up for coffee or a meal and be with you in this both rewarding and challenging time of raising teenagers. You are the primary influence in your child s life and I want to be a resource and partner in that. Blessings, Megan Percy Youth Director mpercy@calvary.org

9th graders - Register online for TEC! Teens Encounter Christ is a retreat held from Friday, Jan. 15 - Sunday, Jan. 17. You will want to save the dates for this important time! What to expect: A fun, memorable weekend that will strengthen your relationship with Jesus and your church family. Time to connect with senior high students and leaders who will be assisting throughout the weekend. To be equipped to share your faith with others when you head back to school. Cost: $30 Register online at: calvary.org/confirmation by Jan. 2 Plymouth Christian Youth Center Gift Shopping Night Wednesday, Dec. 2 Join your small group for a fun night of shopping. Pick out Christmas gifts for the PCYC Annual Children s Gift Sa le. Over 1,000 North Minneapolis children will shop for family members at the sale. Parent help is needed! Please contact your son or daughter s small group leader or Megan Percy (mpercy@calvary.org) if you can help this night. Each group must have at least 2 adults present. Adults providing transportation must have a transportation form submitted. Bring the permission form attached (also available online) and offering money to help purchase the gifts. There is no set amount of offering to bring. Each student will bringwhatever amount they can contribute and it will all go into an envelope that the group will use to purchase gifts with. en Mentoring - Starts Wednesday Feb. 3, 2016 We believe every kid needs another caring adult walking alongside them. During, each student is paired with an adult other than their parent and they meet weekly to discuss the worship service on Wednesday nights. Students choose their own mentor and if they need help getting connected with someone, we are happy to help. Look for more information coming in January.

SUMMER MISSION TRIP Rapid City, South Dakota June 19-25 grades* 6, 7 & 8 (*completed) Youthworks Relationship YouthWorks exists to connect teenagers to God, each other and communities through life-changing Christcentered mission trips. From ministry partners to evening activity contacts, housing contacts, and the cookout, people in Rapid City greatly look forward to YouthWorks arriving. We have partnered with Trinity Lutheran Church for the past six years for housing our groups, and have been in Rapid City since 1999. Community Experience In Rapid City we partner with several local service agencies and work with children and the elderly. One of the most interesting organizations we work with is Black Hills Works. BHW is a progressive and adaptive center for mentally and physically challenged adults in Rapid City. BHW works to help their patrons become as independent and productive as they can be. Their center provides job training, paid work, practical life classes, and a plethora of other services. Most participants who come to volunteer have their eyes opened to people and situations they have never experienced before; it is often the highlight of the trip. Groups will be able to see Mount Rushmore while on site, but they will also learn about other important aspects of Rapid City, such as the importance of the Black Hills to the Lakota. You will also participate in an evening cookout hosted by our housing site church it is the largest cookout in our Western Region, serving over 200+ people from the Rapid City area on a weekly basis. - from YouthWorks.org How much does it cost? $400/ student, $200/adult leader Where will we stay? combining influences We believe that when the influence of the home combines with the influence of the church, we can have a greater impact in the lives of kids. If red is the heart - the home - and yellow is representative of the church, when you put the two together, they make orange. We want to think ORANGE. sermon dialogues Sermon dialogues are part of our strategy and thinking ORANGE. We believe that it is important that you are talking about faith as a family. In January, students will receive a booklet with five sermon dialogues. Once a month, together talk about a sermon that you heard. The students will turn in the booklets in May at the end of the year for. The sermon discussed can be one from Calvary or another church. Sermons are also available online. Sermon dialogues can also be printed from calvary.org/confirmation. parent resources We know that parenting teenagers can be challenging. We want to provide you with support and encouragement.
