Transforming our world through Jesus by connecting, developing, and mobilizing people for God s glory N E W C O V E N A N T C O M M U N I T Y C H U R C H Sunday Worship Service Invitation to Worship Tyler Larson-piano Singing To God Angels We Have Heard On High O Come All Ye Faithful Your Name (Christmas Version) Hearing God s Word Scripture, John 1:1-14 Dr. Tim Johnson, Senior Pastor Responding Through Giving The First Noel (Holy Is The Lord) Sent Into The World Opportunities to Serve Global Minute-Jeff & Diane Brown One of the reasons the Incarnation is so amazing is found in 1 John 1:1, where Jesus is described as that which our hands have touched. Maybe we can t come into contact with God in the same way this morning, but one day Jesus will wipe every tear from our eyes (Rev. 21:4). As we worship today, place your hope in Jesus who restores all things! Worship Team Members Bret Welstead-lead vocal, acoustic guitar, Marisa Ford & Gerit Schell-vocal, Dane Paulsen-bass guitar, Robert Kercher-drums, Daniel Kuchar-electric guitar, Terry Peterson-audio, Kevin Conway-media New Covenant Community Church December 15, 2013

GLORY REVEALED The Power of Preparation John 1:9-13, page 1062 (in the Bible located in the seat back pocket) Beginning in eternity and moving to creation, Jesus, Who preexisted the creation of the world, Who has always existed, Who is the Speech of God, Who created all things, is pursuing a relationship with You! When you choose to follow Him, He redeems what He allows. As recipients, we have the privilege of bringing Heaven to those around us. New Covenant Community Church December 15, 2013 1

Next Steps John 1:8 He himself (John) was not the light; he came only as a witness to the light. 9The true light that gives light to every man was coming into the world.10 He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him. 11 He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him. 12 Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God Re-read verses 8-9 Our role in life is much like John's, which was/is to point people to Jesus. Read John 1:15,19-26 Would that be true of you this past week in your interactions with others? Are others being pointed away from you and towards Christ? Did you give people heaven? Re-read 1:10-11 What are you facing right now which is a deterrent to you being in awe by the magnificence and greatness of the story of Jesus pursuing you? Muse on the following characteristics of Jesus: He is: Timeless, The Final Authority, The Architect of all that is, THE Lifeline for all humanity, Total Truth & Without Flaw, The Initiator of Relationships, Willing to Adopt you, The Light in your darkness. Read what John concluded about Jesus found in John 3:30 Christ > You or Christ < You? As you carry the light bulb with you this week, let it be a reminder every time you see/feel it of the characteristics of Jesus listed above. Wallpaper your mind with those characteristics. Let those characteristics color the way you think, make decisions and interact with those around you, all of whom desperately need Jesus, beginning with those at home. I have consistently found that when I focus on meeting the needs of others, my problems don't go away but I am a much different person inside and out. 2 New Covenant Community Church December 15, 2013

Online Giving There are several ways to give automatically to New Covenant. 1. Our preferred method. If you have access to bill-pay through your bank you can set up New Covenant as a payee. You don t need an account number from us to set this up. You can choose to make a one time gift or recurring donations. 2. The next option is to set up automatic withdrawal from your bank account. Please check with your bank to make sure they identify your money as it goes into another account so you will receive credit for your donation. You will need a routing and account number from us. This also is usually a free service to you and to us. 3. The third option would be to go to newcovchurch.org and use our online giving through PayPal to give to New Covenant. You can use your credit or debit cards with this process. You do not have to set up your own PayPal account. Whether you give by check or online we want you to know that your giving is appreciated. Call Denise at 402-484-5033 for further instruction or information if needed. Discoveryland Volunteers Are you wanting to make a difference for Christ?
