EVANGELISM IS Mark 16: 15-16 The efforts put forth in order to reach the lost. Jesus said in Mark 16:15 Go ye into all the world and preach the Gospel to every creature. Evangelism derived from the word angel. An angel is one that God sends from above. The evangelist is also sent, however he is sent from earth or below. Any means of meeting the salvation needs of mankind would be considered evangelism. Teaching man about God s love for his soul, Jesus came to seek and save the lost. We are privileged to use many means and methods to accomplish this task of Evangelism. 1. The program of the Church should have a connection to the gospel to save. 2. Teaching directly or indirectly by various means. Jesus said, Teach all nations baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit Matt. 28:19 3. Direct teaching can come from the pulpit or class room. Indirect teaching can come from a church dinners, Ladies Day programs, Church outings or feeding those in need 4. As we reach the world through T.V, website, door knocking, preaching, church programs e.g. we must evangelize We must evangelize. Evangelism is God s commission for the mission of the Church. Worship As part of the Evangelism Team Brothers must avail Themselves to the Worship Service through: 1. Preaching the Word from the Pulpit 2. Reading Scripture for Presiding Preacher 3. One-on-One Counseling with respondents to the Invitation 4. Providing further Counseling when deemed appropriate 5. Receiving Confessions 6. Baptizing 7. Serving in any capacity that will assure all aspects of the Worship Service is achieved decently and in order 8. Welcoming visitors and guests 9. Meeting and greeting parishioners, visitors, guests following worship service 10. Being ready to speak to those who show an interest in God s will after service and at anytime Anytime is a good time to bring someone to Christ
Gospel Meetings Gospel Meetings are hosted by the congregation once and when possible twice per year. This event has been instrumental in bringing souls to hear the Word and to obey the Gospel. This four day event requires the Evangelism Team to: 1. Bring In the visiting Speaker(S) 2. Prepare the Congregation to invite and Campaign areas of the city 3. Advertise on T.V., Radio, Newspapers etc 4. receive Those Who Respond for Baptism or for further Study 5. Follow Up After The Meeting is Over with Calls, Visits and letters of thanks for Coming 6. Collect and keep a record of those who visit with us 7. Make Sure the Guest Speaker has a Hotel, Meals, fellowship and pay after the Meeting
MEDIA MINISTRY TELEVISION WEBCASTS The Park Street Church has a TV program. This outreach ministry carries the Gospel throughout much of central South Carolina: 1. Set up the recording 2. Record the message from the pulpit or studio 3. Put the recorded lesson on the Bata cam. Tape taken from the original tape. 4. Put the finished product on DVD to allow the minister to take a final examination of the message 5. Take the BEta cam tape to the TV station 6. The message is about 30 minutes. It will air 7:30 each Sunday morning. 7. The TV stations number is 419 6363 the contact person is Stephanie (TV manager) 8. Our records and tape doubling is done by Victoria Billups 9. The Stations are Channels 4, Cable and Channel 63, Regular TV 10. Home Bible Studies As we go throughout our city encouraging others to follow Jesus Christ, there is a tremendous need to teach them God s word. The Bible says, teach all nations baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit-Matt 08: 19-20 When the opportunities present themselves our team must be ready to open and explain God s plan of salvation. Home Bible classes can come from those who visit with us or others who have shown interest in learning more about Christ and His church. There are many materials here at the church building to assist in these studies. Nevertheless; nothing takes the place of a well informed teacher that can handle the Word. Paul told Timothy to study to show himself approved of God a workman that need not be ashamed rightly dividing the word of truth 2 nd Tim 2:15. we must connect Jesus words with our world. 2Timothy 4:1-6 Contact person: Jack McNeil Sr.
Bible Correspondence COURSES 2Timothy 2:15 the bible declares, study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. the church here at Park Street wants to ensure that mankind understands the greatest teaching in the world, the Bible. The Bible is the best seller. It has no equal and remains the most remarkable book in the world. As members of the Church of Christ, it is our duty to put these Words of God in the hands of man. Not only are we trying to save souls, we are trying to educate the mind of all people about the glory of God. The book is adapted to the needs of all ages, race, and times. It is especially designed to point the way for a rich, full, abundant life now and in the world to come. The scriptures are relevant as if written only yesterday and as up to date as the evening newspaper. We have a plan to give this good news to our friends and relatives: 1. The courses are free to anyone who wants them 2. We will send them out and after they are sent back we will grade them and send the next lesson. 3. At the completion of the course we will have a certificate for the student. 4. We have an eight part course as well as a Thirty-two part course 5. The Eight Part Lesson is from John M. Hurt 6. The Thirty-two part course is entitled studies in the bible 7. These courses along with tracts are sent out, graded and returned by Sister Alice Boston. 8. There is a grade and course check form to go by
Weddings The time will come when young men and young women will desire a committed relationship with one another. This committed relationship is called Marriage. Matthew 19:16 Not only do we understand God s will and plan For marriage, we also understand that marriage is a legal matter. There are legal issues. The minister will advise the couples as to their responsibilities to the state for licenses etc. The Church at Park Street will provide the building for the ceremony and rehearsal. Counsel will also be provided. There are at least five counseling sessions. There will be no wedding at the church building by the Park Street minister for a Christian and a non Christian, nor will our Minister marry such couples outside the building. The wedding party is responsible for time, arrangements, guest etc. All weddings must be decent and in order. The minister will assist in the rehearsal however one should have a wedding planner. Funerals Hebrews 9:27, James 2:66 Death will come to all mankind. This is a time when life in the church stops to meet the needs of the deceased s Family. it is a time to offer hope, scriptures, prayer, and assurance. the minister will meet with Family s to determine their wishes. He will inform the congregation as to their assistance. The benevolence committee will also be involved with many acts, flowers, cards, food etc. During the day of the funeral the ushers will contact the minister as to receive instruction as to the order/organization or layout for the funeral service, seating, line up the family, making sure building and parking is right. We will need prayer servants as well as scripture readers. The song leader is a very essential part of the service and must prepare well in advance. The song leader will lead the service procession, guiding the funeral march in and leading the march out. The Committal and Benediction will take place at the Cemetery and the repast will most likely take place back at the church building
