Mission Statement The Salem Baptist Church is transforming lives by Exalting the Savior, Evangelizing the Lost, Equipping the Saints and Expanding the Kingdom of God. (Matthew 22: 36-40; Matthew 28: 18-20) 2018 The Year of Recommitment COMMITTED TO THE JOURNEY Serving God and One Another in the Spirit of Excellence E X A L T RETIRE the Debt E V A N G E L I Z E RENOVATE our Facility E Q U I P RAISE a Generation E X P A N D...effectively managing God s resources Each saint of God should be a maturing disciple of Jesus Christ. In 2018 we expect each member to aspire to a higher level of worship, relationship, discipleship and stewardship. Ephes. 4:11-16 (NKJV) And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, [12] for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ, [13] till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ; [14] that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting, [15] but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head--christ-- [16] from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by what every joint supplies, according to the effective working by which every part does its share, causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love. In this new year, each of us should renew our commitment to the Lord Jesus, to one another as brothers and sisters in Christ, and to seeing lost souls served and saved. Matthew 9:37-38 (NKJV) Then He said to His disciples, "The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few. [38] Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest."

Rev. Dr. C. L. Bachus If you don t give up on God, He won t give up on you. This quote has been shared with the congregation of Mount Zion Baptist Church on more than one occasion and so is demonstrative of the life Pastor Bachus tries to instill in us... God must be the center of your life! Clemmie Lee Bachus was born to parents Eddie and Leona Bachus in Hernando, Mississippi. Typical of family sizes at that time, nine brothers and six sisters shared a small humble home enforced and infused with Spiritual concepts and principles. Impoverished and exposed to racial fanaticism, he and his siblings strove to become a help to his parents and each other. In 1958 he married the former Wilma Norman and this union was blessed with five children: Rev. Reginald E. Bachus (Detra), Verneda F. Bachus Robinson, Jerome C. Bachus, Rev. Selwyn Q. Bachus (Marla), and Sonja W. Bachus. They have ten grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He then, in turn, created a Christian environment, where God was first, to rear his children in the fear and admonition of the Lord. In 1963 C. L. Bachus accepted his call to the ministry and preached his first sermon at Shady grove Baptist Church in Memphis Tennessee. Prior to Mt. Zion, Reverend Bachus pastored at Mount Pisgah Baptist Church in Olive Branch Mississippi, Hammond Grove Baptist Church in Arlington Tennessee and New Light Baptist Church in Helena, Arkansas. Since the family s pilgrimage from Mississippi in 1971, Pastor Bachus has built a legacy for his family, this church and the community. He learned what was necessary to effectively lead and nurture a congregation and grow a community. He attended extended studies at Ottawa University and Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, graduated from divinity school (Central Baptist Theological Seminary Kansas City Kansas 1976) and became active in the community. He has received accolades and awards for his committed community service that included The Outstanding Community Award, Honorary Doctor of Divinity from Western Bible College, and was acknowledge as Outstanding Distinguished Minister.

Rev. Dr. C. L. Bachus Rev. Bachus has served on several boards and committees in the local and national arena which included President of the Kansas City Kansas Baptist Ministers Union, Kanas City Kansas Community Crime Prevention Council, Chaplain on Call Wyandotte County Jail, Arkansas Committee on Education and was appointed as the 5 th Vice President of the National Baptist Convention, USA, Inc., to name a few. Dr. Bachus established the Mt. Zion Economic Foundation and is responsible for the Saturday morning Radio Ministry. He has encouraged and mentored eight sons in the ministry and supported other ordained ministers that sought his wisdom and kinship. This man of faith has solidly kept God at the helm of his life. Pastor C. L. Bachus instructs us in the word as encouragement to do the same. He preaches and teaches with enthusiasm and prays with fervor for blessings and healing. Reverend Dr. Bachus established well our mantra A Bible Believing, Bible Teaching, and Bible Preaching Church. Rev. Dr. C.L. Bachus & Dr. Wilma N. Bachus
