Opening Hymn #701 (vv. 1-3) Draw Us to Thee P In the name of the Father Son Holy Spirit. C Amen. Psalm 16:7-11 P I will bless the Lord who has given me counsel; C My heart also instructs me in the night seasons. P I have set the Lord always before me; C Because He is at my right hand I shall not be moved. P Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoices; C My flesh also will rest in hope. P For You will not leave my soul in the grave, C Nor will You allow Your Holy One to see corruption. P You will show me the path of life; C In Your presence is fullness of joy--at Your right hand are pleasures forevermore. P In light of God's mercies let us pray. C O God, for our redemption you gave your only-begotten Son to the death of the cross and by his glorious resurrection delivered us from the power of the enemy. Grant that all our sin may be drowned through daily repentance and that day by day we may arise to live before you in righteousness and purity forever; through Jesus Christ, our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, now and forever. Amen. P Keep my soul, and receive my confession, gracious Lord: C To you alone belongs eternal praise. Amen. P "Through Jesus the forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you" (Acts 13:38). "He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world" (1 John 2:2). In him you have forgiveness of sins--and with that, eternal life and fulness of joy. C Jesus rose from the dead, proclaiming victory over sin and death. To him belongs eternal praise!
Hymn #603 (Tune: Sine Nomine) "We Know that Christ" We know that Christ is raised and dies no more. Embraced by death, he broke its fearful hold; And our despair he turned to blazing joy. A-lle-lu-ia! A-lle-lu-ia! We share by water in this saving death. Reborn, we share with him an Easter life. As living members of a living Christ. A-lle-lu-ia! A-lle-lu-ia! The Father's splendor clothes the Son with life. The Spirit's power shakes the Church of God. Baptized, we live with God the Three in One. A-lle-lu-ia! A-lle-lu-ia! The First Reading Acts 3:11-21 P This is the Word of the Lord. C Thanks be to God. The Epistle Reading 1 John 3:1-7 P This is the Gospel of the Lord. C Praise be to Thee, O Christ. He is Arisen! Glorious Word! #488 Now reconciled is God, my Lord; The gates of heav'n are open. My Jesus did triumphant die, And Satan's arrows broken lie, Destroyed hell's fiercest weapon. Oh, hear what cheer!
