JOURNALISM 2017-18 BATCH INAUGURATED Almost all mass communication courses being offered at reputed institutions all over the country are now offering specialisation in digital media and web content writing in different verticals, but there is a need to have specialised exclusive courses in this area. Some foreign universities do have specialised courses in web content writing, digital media and management was pointed out by Vijayakarnataka editor and vetern Journalist Sri Thimmappa Bhat. While inaugurating 2017-18 batch of Journalism which is being conducted by Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan on 28 th August 2017 at K.R.G Hall at it s premises. He made a valuable note on one of the basic concerns of a new entrant in mass communication course is to know about the difference between a traditional mass communication course and newmedia course. New-age media is different from traditional media as the current user wants information at the click of a button. He urged new batch students to utilize the facilities available in the reputed institution like Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan. Prof N.S.Ashokkumar, Head of the Department of Sri Thimmappa Bhat, Editor, Vijaya Karnataka, inaugurate by lighting the lamp while Sri. H.N. Suresh, Director, BVB, and Prof. N.S. Ashok Kumar, Head of the Dept. of Journalism, Bangalore University, joins. 6

Journalism at Bangalore university who was chief guest of the programme pointed out that future of journalism in India seems so bright because India is currently experiencing an extraordinary media expansion. While newspapers in Europe and America are losing their readership annually, the Indian print media is still going stronger with bigger circulation and market avenues. He also noted that today the journalism in India has considerable employment scope, with media barons opening new channels or newspapers on a regular basis. The competition is so rife that each channel or newspaper tries to produce something exclusive to give the audience a great deal of variety. So, students should utilize this opportunity with their innovativeness. Sri H..N.Sureh, Director of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan presided over the function. Course co-ordinator Sri N.S. Sreedharamurthy welcomed the gathering and guests and also briefed about the course. Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Race Course Road Bangalore and Sandipani Gurukula No. 49, 12th Cross S.P. Extension.
