Page 2 From your missionary The summer months have begun with many exciting things! I was grateful to attend the Southern Baptist Convention along with Pastor Jacob Brimm. I always enjoy going to the convention, and this year was extremely rewarding and beneficial. We attended the Southern Baptist Conference of Associational leaders prior to the convention. The things Gary Leutzinger that we took away will greatly benefit future plans for our association. The SBC meetings were very inspirational with great worship and preaching as well as hearing many great reports from NAMB, IMB, and other entities of the convention. God is working in a great way through the cooperative effort of all our churches. The only discouraging thing mentioned was the decline of baptisms in our convention. I realize the population of our nation is rapidly growing, but I believe too many churches are focusing too much on themselves and not focusing on the great imperative in scripture to make disciples. I pray we will become more sensitive to the lostness in our communities, and that God will give all of us a compassion for those who need Christ! Make plans now to Celebrate how God has worked in and through Houston Baptist Association at the 187th Annual Meeting September 10, 5 7pm First Baptist Church 137 Kelly Road, Cordele More details forthcoming. We have completed two great summer camps at Camp Houston with anticipation of two camps in July. I am happy to report that we had 39 girls at girls camp with 12 decisions for salvation. It was a blessing to baptize seven of the girls at the camp at the conclusion on Thursday s closing worship. I appreciate Director Jenni Taylor and her counselors for all of the great work they did! Our boys camp went very well. We had 20 boys this year, and the theme was God s grace. There were many teaching moments led by Director Eric Eidenire. The worship was led by Pastor Ronnie Duncan and Ben Green. There is no doubt that the boys went home understanding more about what God s grace means to our lives. Thank you to Eric and all his counselors for making this a great camp! We anticipate great youth and day camps this month. Pray God will move in a mighty way in these camps. I know I have expressed this before, but our association camp is a great ministry! The success of the camps could not happen without our HBA churches financial support and by serving during camp weeks. I pray our churches continue to support our camp and that God will change many lives! Bro. Gary Byromville Church Pastor Jacob Brimm and Gary Leutzinger (middle two) at the Southern Baptist Conference of Associational Leaders in Phoenix, AZ Houston Baptist Center will be closed July 17. Gary and Brenda will be out of the office July 18-20, but the office will be open.
