Welcome We are glad you chose to worship with us today. No matter what your previous experience with church may be, it is our hope that today s service will be a fresh encounter with God s love and power for your life. This folder will guide you as we worship together. Welcome to Christ Community Church. Our purpose Christ Community Church exists to join Christ in his renewal of all things by experiencing and extending his love throughout Gainesville. We are a congregation of the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA). Core Values GOSPEL OF THE KINGDOM: Grounding all we do in the three foundational realities of the Gospel: a new world, a new record, a new heart. WORSHIP: Rehearsing the gospel of Jesus Christ through song, word, joyful giving, and sacrament. GROWING IN GRACE: Growing in faith, repentance, wisdom, and obedience as a community. LIFE TOGETHER: Serving and walking with each other in life s joys and sorrows through hospitality and intentional community. MISSIONAL LIVING: Pursuing faithful lives of mission where we live, work, and play. SERVING GAINESVILLE: Seeking the spiritual, social, and cultural welfare of greater Gainesville. MULTIPLICATION: Planting churches, fostering global missions, equipping the emerging generation, and commissioning those in transition. Children We offer a range of Christ-centered programming for children throughout the morning. This Summer, children ages 3 years to 3rd grade will be dismissed from the service to their classrooms at 10:50am. Care for toddlers and 2-year-olds is available all morning, and the nursery is always open to babies and nursing mothers. Please visit the Welcome Station for more information and to register your children. Sunday, February 11, 2018 Prelude (All music by permission CCLI #2054302) *Please silence your cell phones at this time. Call to Worship Psalm 113:1-2 Leader: Praise the Lord! Praise, O servants of the Lord, praise the name of the Lord! UNISON: Blessed be the name of the Lord from this time forth and forevermore! Prayer of Invocation Holy, Holy, Holy Words: Reginald Heber, 1826. Music: John Dykes, 1861. Holy, Holy, Holy! Lord God Almighty! Early in the morning our song shall rise to thee; Holy, Holy, Holy! Merciful and mighty! God in three Persons, blessed Trinity! Holy, Holy, Holy! All the saints adore thee, Casting down their golden crowns around the glassy sea; Cherubim and seraphim falling down before thee, Who wert, and art and evermore shall be. Holy, Holy, Holy! Though the darkness hide thee, Though the eye of sinful man thy glory may not see, Only thou art holy; there is none beside thee Perfect in power, in love and purity. Holy, Holy, Holy! Lord God Almighty! All thy works shall praise thy Name, in earth, and sky and sea; Holy, Holy, Holy! Merciful and Mighty! God in three Persons, blessed Trinity!

I Will Arise Words: Joseph Hart, 1759. Music: William Walker, 1835, arr. CCC 2012. Come, ye sinners, poor and needy, Weak and wounded, sick and sore. Jesus ready stands to save you, Full of pity, love and pow r. : I will arise and go to Jesus; He will embrace me in his arms. In the arms of my dear Savior Oh, there are ten thousand charms. Come, ye thirsty, come, and welcome God s free bounty glorify; True belief and true repentance, Every grace that brings you nigh. Come, ye weary, heavy laden, Lost and ruined by the fall; If you tarry till you re better, You will never come at all. View him prostrate in the garden, On the ground your maker lies; On the bloody tree behold him, Sinner, will this not suffice? Lo! th incarnate God ascended Pleads the merit of his blood. Venture on him, venture wholly; Let no other trust intrude. Confession: UNISON: Father, forgive us our sin for Jesus sake, and grant that we might walk in the ways of love and justice, to the glory of your holy name. Comfort Romans 8:35-39 Leader: Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword? As it is written, For your sake we are being killed all the day long; we are regarded as sheep to be slaughtered. UNISON: No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. Christ Is Risen Words & Music: Matt Maher and Mia Fieldes, 2009. Let no one caught in sin remain Inside the lie of inward shame But fix our eyes upon the cross And run to him who showed great love And bled for us, freely you ve bled for us Christ is risen from the dead Trampling over death by death Come awake, come awake! Come and rise up from the grave! Christ is risen from the dead We are one with him again Come awake, come awake! Come and rise up from the grave! Beneath the weight of all our sin You bow to none but heavens will No scheme of hell, no scoffer's crown No burden great can hold you down In strength you reign; forever let your church proclaim Oh death! Where is your sting? Oh hell! Where is your victory? Oh Church! Come stand in the light! The glory of God has defeated the night! Oh death! Where is your sting? Oh hell! Where is your victory? Oh church! Come stand in the light! Our God is not dead, he's alive! He's alive!

King of My Heart Words & Music: John Mark and Sarah McMillan, 2015. Be the mountain where I run, The fountain I drink from. Oh he is my song. Be the shadow where I hide, The ransom for my life; Oh he is my song. : You are good, good, oh (4x) Be the wind inside my sails, The anchor in the waves; Oh he is my song. Be the fire inside my veins, The echo of my days; Oh he is my song. You're never gonna let, Never gonna let me down. (4x) When the night is holding on to me, God is holding on. Greeting One Another Please take a couple minutes to stand and greet those around you. Children ages 5 years through 3rd Grade are dismissed to Children s Church at this time. Please encourage children to walk calmly to class. Tithes & Offerings The offering is a time to not only give of your possessions but also to give yourself to God. Use this time to reflect, meditate and respond to what God is doing in your life. Doxology Thomas Ken, 1674. Praise God, from whom all blessings flow; Praise him, all creatures here below; Praise him above, ye heavenly host; Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen. Teaching Text Job 38:1-3, 40:8-12, 42:1-10 Job 38: 1 Then the Lord answered Job out of the whirlwind and said: 2 Who is this that darkens counsel by words without knowledge? 3 Dress for action like a man; I will question you, and you make it known to me. Job 40: 8 Will you even put me in the wrong? Will you condemn me that you may be in the right? 9 Have you an arm like God, and can you thunder with a voice like his? 10 Adorn yourself with majesty and dignity; clothe yourself with glory and splendor. 11 Pour out the overflowings of your anger, and look on everyone who is proud and abase him. 12 Look on everyone who is proud and bring him low and tread down the wicked where they stand. Job 42: 1 Then Job answered the Lord and said: 2 I know that you can do all things, and that no purpose of yours can be thwarted. 3 Who is this that hides counsel without knowledge? Therefore I have uttered what I did not understand, things too wonderful for me, which I did not know. 4 Hear, and I will speak; I will question you, and you make it known to me. 5 I had heard of you by the hearing of the ear, but now my eye sees you; 6 therefore I despise myself, and repent in dust and ashes. 7 After the LORD had spoken these words to Job, the LORD said to Eliphaz the Temanite: My anger burns against you and against your two friends, for you have not spoken of me what is right, as my servant Job has. 8 Now therefore take seven bulls and seven rams and go to my servant Job and offer up a burnt offering for yourselves. And my servant Job shall pray for you, for I will accept his prayer not to deal with you according to your folly. For you have not spoken of me what is right, as my servant Job has. 9 So Eliphaz the Temanite and Bildad the Shuhite and Zophar the Naamathite went and did what the LORD had told them, and the LORD accepted Job's prayer. 10 And the LORD restored the fortunes of Job, when he had prayed for his friends. And the LORD gave Job twice as much as he had before. Sermon The Lord Answers Job Tim Hayse

By Faith Words & Music: Keith and Kristyn Getty and Stuart Townend, 2009. By faith we see the hand of God In the light of creation s grand design, In the lives of those who prove his faithfulness, Who walk by faith and not by sight. By faith our fathers roamed the earth With the power of his promise in their hearts Of a holy city built by God s own hand, A place where peace and justice reign. : We will stand as children of the promise. We will fix our eyes on him our soul s reward. Till the race is finished and the work is done, We ll walk by faith and not by sight. By faith the prophets saw a day When the longed-for Messiah would appear With the power to break the chains of sin and death And rise triumphant from the grave. By faith the church was called to go, In the power of the Spirit to the lost, To deliver captives and to preach good news In every corner of the earth. By faith this mountain shall be moved, And the power of the gospel shall prevail, For we know in Christ all things are possible For all who call upon his name.
