Collaborative of St. Francis of Assisi Parish & St. Joseph Parish, Medford, MA Page 3 From Fr. Paul Dear Friends, Welcome to New Parishioners No matter what your present status in the Catholic Church, No matter what your current family or marital situation, No matter what your current personal history, age, background, race, etc., No matter what your own self-image; you are invited, welcomed, accepted, loved and respected here at The Collaborative of Saint Francis of Assisi Parish and Saint Joseph Parish. If you are new to the parish, please introduce yourself to a member of the Parish Staff after Mass or at your convenience. Sacrament of Matrimony Couples should make arrangements with one of our priests or deacon at least six months before the wedding. Pastoral Care of the Sick and Elderly Please contact the Parish Center Office to make arrangements, if you are going into the hospital, or have a family member who is homebound and would like to receive the Sacrament of the Sick. If a family member cannot come to church and would like to receive Communion at home, please notify us. Remembering Our Parishes Please consider remembering St. Francis of Assisi Parish, St. Joseph Parish or St. Joseph School when drafting your estate plans. For more information, please call Laura Powers at 781-396-0423 Ext 113. Thank you. Wisdom. Fortitude. Understanding. These are three of the seven gifts of the Holy Spirit. Don't we all need these gifts on a daily basis? They are "there for the asking" - we received these gifts at our Baptism, and they are increased in Confirmation. Please pray for our high school students who received an increase of the gifts of the Holy Spirit at the Confirmation Masses on Saturday, April 28. May they continue to call on the Spirit each day, as they seek to follow the Lord Jesus and discern what His plan is for their lives. And may this be a moment for all of us to learn more about the gifts of the Spirit that we have received, and to ask for them daily. We are grateful to Most Rev. Arthur Kennedy and Very Rev. James Flavin, who administered the Sacrament of Confirmation at our two parishes on Saturday. "Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful people, and kindle in us the fire of Your love. Send forth Your Spirit, and we shall be created, and You shall renew the face of the earth." Mission Statement Saint Joseph School is a nurturing Christ-centered community where the mission of Jesus, as understood and experienced in the Catholic Church, is our primary focus. We encourage our students to develop a deep love of God, neighbor, and self. The faculty and staff believe that a supportive academic environment will help to develop self-confidence, pride, fulfillment, and a desire to strive toward excellence. St. Joseph School Bridge to Kindergarten Program Saint Joseph School understands and appreciates the importance of the whole child. If your child would benefit from the gift of time, before entering Kindergarten, this is the program for you! This program is designed to promote a level of readiness skills necessary for a Kindergarten classroom. The Bridge program introduces children at a slower pace to the structure and routine of a Kindergarten classroom. Teachers encourage emerging learners through a variety of ways focusing on the development of each individual child. The Bridge is a five (5) full day program which includes Music, Art, Spanish, and Physical Education all taught by a specialist outside of their classroom. For more information, call us at 781-396-3636, email us at info@stjosephschoolmedford.com or visit our website at www.stjosephschoolmedford.com.

In conjunction with the Feast of Pentecost, the birthday of the church, the weekend of May 19 th and 20 th, at Saint Joseph Parish, in keeping with our tradition, the verses to the responsorial psalm will be read in a different language at each of the Masses. In the past, the verses have been read in Italian, French, Spanish, Portuguese, French Creole, Gaelic, Russian and Igbo, and we welcome any others! If you are able, and would be willing, to read the verses in another language at one of the Masses, we would be most appreciative if you could please let us know, either by email (stjosephmusic@msn.com) or by calling the liturgy office (781-396-0423 x125), at your earliest convenience, in which language, and at which Mass, you would be able to do it.
