So lean in and hear God s words of life for you, our community and the world! Prelude Largo from Xerxes G. F. Handel Hymn How Firm a Foundation foundation 2

We gather in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen Confession and Foregiveness Most merciful God, we confess that we are captive to sin and cannot free ourselves. We have sinned against you in thought, word and deed, by what we have done and by what we have left undone. We have not loved you with our whole heart, we have reacted out of fear and we have not loved our neighbors as ourselves. For the sake of your Son, Jesus Christ, have mercy on us. Forgive us, renew us and lead us, so that we may delight in your will and walk in your ways, to the glory of your holy name. Amen In the mercy of almighty God, Jesus Christ was given to die for you, and for his sake God forgives you all your sins. Jesus Christ empowers you to become the children of God and bestows on them the gift of the Holy Spirit. Amen The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all. And also with you. Prayer of the Day O God our defender, storms rage about us and cause us to be afraid. Rescue your people from despair, deliver your daughters and sons from fear, and preserve us all from unbelief; through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen Anthem Shall We Gather at the River Robert Lowry/arr. Jay Giallombardo River City Quartet 3

Lesson Ephesians 3:14-21 For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth takes its name. I pray that, according to the riches of his glory, he may grant that you may be strengthened in your inner being with power through his Spirit, and that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith, as you are being rooted and grounded in love. I pray that you may have the power to comprehend, with all the saints, what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, so that you may be filled with all the fullness of God. Now to him who by the power at work within us is able to accomplish abundantly far more than all we can ask or imagine, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen. VBS Celebration and Music Medley Hymn Oh, Worship the King lyons Continued on next page 4

10:30 Blessing of ELCA Youth Gathering Participants Psalm 69:1-3 Read in unison Save me, O God, for the waters have come up to my neck. I sink in deep mire, where there is no foothold; I have come into deep waters, and the flood sweeps over me. I am weary with my crying; my throat is parched. My eyes grow dim with waiting for my God. 5

Hymn Have No Fear, Little Flock little flock Sacrament of Holy Baptism 10:30 Nolan Jeffrey Young Child of Catherine and Erik Young Apostles Creed I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord. He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into hell. On the third day he rose again. He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen 6

Holy Gospel Mark 6:45-52 Glory to you, O Lord. Immediately Jesus made his disciples get into the boat and go on ahead to the other side, to Bethsaida, while he dismissed the crowd. After saying farewell to them, he went up on the mountain to pray. When evening came, the boat was out on the sea, and he was alone on the land. When he saw that they were straining at the oars against an adverse wind, he came towards them early in the morning, walking on the sea. He intended to pass them by. But when they saw him walking on the sea, they thought it was a ghost and cried out; for they all saw him and were terrified. But immediately he spoke to them and said, Take heart, it is I; do not be afraid. Then he got into the boat with them and the wind ceased. And they were utterly astounded, for they did not understand about the loaves, but their hearts were hardened. Praise to you, O Christ. Prayers of the Church Words of Institution for the Sacrament of Holy Communion The Lord s Prayer Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen We believe that Jesus Christ is truly present in the bread and wine and grants us the gift of God s grace and forgiveness. All are welcome to receive this gift. White grape juice is available upon request. Gluten-free wafers are available at all stations at the front of the Sanctuary. 8
