SCRIPTURE READING Mark 10: 46-52 Then they came to Jericho. As Jesus and his disciples, together with a large crowd, were leaving the city, a blind man, Bartimaeus (which means son of Timaeus ), was sitting by the roadside begging. When he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to shout, Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me! Many rebuked him and told him to be quiet, but he shouted all the more, Son of David, have mercy on me! Jesus stopped and said, Call him. So they called to the blind man, Cheer up! On your feet! He s calling you. Throwing his cloak aside, he jumped to his feet and came to Jesus. What do you want me to do for you? Jesus asked him. The blind man said, Rabbi, I want to see. Go, said Jesus, your faith has healed you. Immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus along the road. (Leader)... The word of God for the people of God. (People)... Thanks be to God. Bob Milne has to be seen to be believed. He has been filmed and documented by the Library of Congress for unusual musical abilities and is referred to as a national treasure. Performing over 200 times per year, he is rated among the top ragtime players in all of history. & ragtime Milne will present a program of ragtime and boogie-woogie with historical narratives woven throughout. He is likely to insert anything else, such as light classical or country-western. With no set program, in his words, he just begins. Milne can play multiple complex rhythms simultaneously while carrying on a conversation, lecturing on ragtime music, and cracking jokes. He has a four-track mind he can mentally play up to 4 symphonies in his head simultaneously according to Penn State neuroscientist Kerstin Bettermann. Milne can play in three different time signatures at once 3/4, 4/4, and 5/4 time, playing one on his left hand, another with the thumb of his right hand, and the last with the rest of his right hand. Since childhood, Milne has had the prodigy-like ability to hear any musical score and replicate it on the keys. Once Milne hears a song, he remembers every note, whether it s a ragtime song or a Beethoven symphony. I ve never practiced piano a day in my life, he says. I always thought everyone could just play like this. 3 THIS WEEK AT ROSER SUNDAY January 29 Our Daily Bread...Pg 5 CONSECRATION OF PLEDGES Mission Moment Hope Seeds..Pg 3 8:30 Worship Service...S 8:45 Adult Class...FH 9:00 Adult Book Study....Pg 4 10:00 Worship Service...S MUSIC: Joyful Noise Children s Choir 10:00 Church School... MENU JAN 31: Southern ADULTS - CHOICE ONE THE WAY OF THE MASTER Taught by Gary Kistler The Way of the Master gives light to an almost forgotten BIBLICAL KEY that has power to unlock the door of the HUMAN HEART. This is the proven and effective way of making the gospel make sense to the unsaved. It is so rooted in the Scriptures, once you see it, you will forever wonder how you could have missed it. It is the biblical principle of bypassing the intellect (the place of argument) and speaking directly to conscience (the place of the knowledge of right and wrong) the way Jesus did.
