Sacred Heart Ministries and Organizations: Adoration Adoration is the Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, and begins each Tuesday starting at 8:00 am. All parishioners are invited to draw strength from the Lord by participating in a Holy Hour of Adoration. Ms. Joann DiLiberto Aid for Friends Aid for Friends is a group of individuals that helps in cooking, preparing, and delivering meals for parishioners and our community who are homebound. Mrs. Dana Felder Altar Servers Altar Servers assist the Pastor/Priest and Deacon during the celebration of Mass, Weddings, Funerals and other special Liturgies. Children can begin their preparation starting in 4th Grade and there are required training sessions. Mr. Chris Michalski Art & Environment The Art & Environment Group helps assist in enhancing Sacred Heart Church with Altar Flowers and Decorations for Liturgical and special events. Mrs. Annemarie Dunn Bereavement Planning This ministry helps the family with Funeral Mass after the death of a loved one. We meet with the family to go over music and liturgy decisions and greet attendees at the viewing and/or Mass. Mr. Charlie Merkel
Bereavement Ministry This is a Ministry of Consolation that assists families after the funeral and during the grief process. We send out cards and make phone calls at important times like birthdays and holidays to check in with loved ones. Mrs. Michelle Sapp Bible Study The Bible is a library of books that tells us the word of God not only to ancient peoples but to us in our day and time. Each class is based on readings and discussion of the lessons God wants us to ponder and take to our hearts and souls. Mrs. Pat Daley Catholic Youth Organization (CYO) The CYO supports an athletic program that allows youth to grow in their relationship with God and come to better understand themselves and their Catholic Faith through healthy competition, sportsmanship and responsibility to the community. Mr. Chris Dearing Charismatic Prayer Group The Charismatic Prayer Group serves God through prayers of healing, great love, and the use of many gifts of The Spirit. We meet weekly in the church for prayer and community. Mrs. Rita Marra Children s Liturgy Liturgy of the Word with Children helps provide age appropriate Liturgical instruction for children from age 4 through 1st grade during the 9:00 a.m. Mass on Sunday. Teachings are created for the children in a way that makes the Gospel more applicable to their understanding, which we hope will provide a foundation for a lifelong love of God and the Church. Extraordinary Ministers Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion assist at Mass on Saturday/Sundays and Holy Days. Other duties may include administering Holy Communion to the sick and homebound parishioners. Mrs. Monica Staszesky Facilities Committee The Building & Grounds Committee consists of individuals who bring a wide area of expertise in Building and Grounds Maintenance and help assist with improvements to our campus and overall maintenance. Mr. Henry Staszesky Greeters Greeters can serve the parish by distributing church bulletins with a warm, positive, and friendly "Welcome" to parishioners before or after mass. **We are looking for a coordinator/scheduler for this ministry are you it?** Hospitality The Hospitality Committee assist in hosting events and provides bake goods, and beverages for our parish events. Mrs. Tara Hillegass and Mrs. Nancy Latsch Knights of Columbus The Knights of Columbus are committed to making their community a better place, while supporting their church and being involved with family life and our parish community. Mr. Charles Karat Ladies Auxiliary The Ladies Auxiliary is to uplift the role of women through religious and social activities, assist other parish ministries, sponsor, engage in charitable activities and to assist the Knights of Columbus. Lectors Lectors assist at Mass by proclaiming the Word of God and reading the general intercessions in the absence of a Deacon. Mrs. Monica Staszesky Legion of Mary This ministry is an international organization of individuals devoted to Mary and service to others since 1921. Guided by Mary and the Holy Spirit, this group meets once a week for prayer, learning, and discussion of good works. Join our choir and let your voice be heard! Mrs. Cathy Grebner Offertory Counters Counters volunteer on Monday mornings to help assist with the church collection from the weekend Masses and as needed for Holy Days. Mrs. Cathy Grebner Parish Pilgrimages This ministry coordinates with the Archdiocese and other parishes in the local area to take trips to shrines and other local Holy Places. Mrs. Mimma D Aquanno Parish Office Volunteers The office staff at Sacred Heart always looks for individuals to help with making sure our parish runs as smoothly as possible. Your dedication to a few hours a week, or a more as needed basis for mailings or mini-projects is always appreciated. Stop in and let us know if you d like to help out!
Faith Formation Opportunities: PREP Our religious education program is run from Grade 1- Grade 5 culminating with Confirmation in the Fall of Grade 6. The program runs on Sunday mornings following the 9 am Mass and on Tuesday evenings at 6 pm. It includes sacramental preparation for the reception of First Reconciliation and First Communion in Grade 2. PREP is supported by Catechists (teachers for the students), classroom aides, and babysitters in our child care room. Students in Grade 7 and above are able to help out as well as adults for catechesis! RCIA This program, the Rite of Christian Initiation, or a program for those wishing to become Catholic, runs from Fall through the Easter Season. Parishioners and community members wishing to receive sacraments as adults and those wishing to start the process of initiation into the Church participate in educational and community building classes that culminate with full reception into the Catholic Church. Respect Life/Defenders of the Family Respect Life/Defenders of the Family are dedicated to the service of our Lord, Sacred Heart Defenders of the Family, through prayer and public witness, work to protect human life and dignity from the moment of conception until natural death.
