Spiritual Gifts Discovery Questionnaire Instructions: Go through the list of questions on the Spiritual Gifts Discovery Questionnaire. For each question, say. This has been experienced in my life much, some, little or not at all and check the appropriate box. 1. Do you experience pleasure doing routine tasks for God s glory? 2. Do you have a sensitivity to recognize people s prayer needs before others do? 3. Definitions & Scripture References A. SERVICE ~ The gift of service is the special ability that God gives to certain members of the Body of Christ to identify the unmet needs involved in a task related to God s work, and to make use of available resources to meet those needs and help accomplish the desired goals. (Rom 12:7; I Cor. 12:28) B. INTERCESSION ~ The gift of intercession is the special ability that God gives to certain members of the Body of Christ to pray for extended periods of time on a regular basis and see frequent and specific answers to their prayers to a degree much greater than that which is expected of the average Christian. (Biblically exampled but not in one of the Spiritual Gift Lists). C. TEACHING ~ The gift of teaching is the special ability that God gives to certain members of the Body of Christ to explain and clarify truth, especially biblical truth. It involves communication to affect both health and ministry of Christians. (Rom 12:7; I Cor 12:28, 29; Eph 4:11) D. HOSPITALITY ~ The gift of hospitality is the special ability that God gives to certain members of the Body of Christ to provide an open house and warm welcome for those in need of food and overnight stays. (I Pet 4:9-10) E. LEADERSHIP ~ The gift of leadership is the special ability that God gives to certain members of the Body of Christ to set goals to others in such a way that they voluntarily and harmoniously work together to accomplish those goals for the glory of God. (Rom 12:8) F. FAITH ~ The gift of faith is the special ability that God gives to certain members of the Body of Christ to look ahead to something God promised and act as if it were already happening. (Rom 12:6; I Cor 12:9) G. ADMINISTRATION ~ The gift of administration is the special ability that God gives to certain members of the Body of Christ to understand clearly the short and long-range goals of a particular unit of the Body of Christ and to organize, staff, delegate, communicate, control and evaluate ways to reach those visualized and measurable goals. (I Cor 12:28) H. EVANGELIST ~ The gift of evangelist is the special ability that God gives to certain members of the Body of Christ to share the gospel with not-yet Christians in such a way that people become spiritually born and start growing in a Christian life style. (Eph 4:11) I. MISSIONARY ~ The gift of missionary is the special ability that God gives to certain members of the Body of Christ to use whatever other spiritual gifts they have in a cross-cultural ministry.(biblically exampled but not in one of the Spiritual Gift Lists) J. MESSAGE OF WISDOM ~ The message of wisdom is the special ability that God gives to certain members of the Body of Christ to know the mind of the Holy Spirit in order to give insight and illumination in the deep things of God. (I Cor 12:8) K. HELPS ~ The gift of helps is the special ability that God gives to certain members of the Body of Christ to invest the talents they have in the life and ministry of other members of the Body, thus enabling the person helped to increase the effectiveness of his or her spiritual gifts... lending a hand in a practical way. (Biblically exampled but not in one of the Spiritual Gift Lists) L. CONTRIBUTING ~ The gift of contributing is the special ability that God gives to certain members of the Body of Christ to give their material resources to the work of the Lord with liberality, cheerfulness and single-mindedness. (Rom 12:8) M. DISTINGUISHING SPIRITS ~ The gift of distinguishing spirits is the special ability that God gives to certain members of the Body of Christ to discern with assurance whether certain behavior or message that is purported to be of God is in reality divine, human or demonic. (I Cor 12:10) N. SHEPHERDING (PASTOR) ~ The gift of shepherding (pastor) is the special ability that God gives to certain members of the Body of Christ to assume a long-term personal responsibility for the spiritual welfare of a group of Christians. (Eph 4:11) O. ENCOURAGEMENT ~ The gift of encouragement is the special ability that God gives to certain members of the Body of Christ to come along another to comfort, challenge, elate and give counsel. (Rom 12:8) P. MESSAGE OF KNOWLEDGE ~ The message of knowledge is the special ability that God gives to certain members of the Body of Christ to obtain information from the Holy Spirit about someone or something that could not be known from any other source. (I Cor 12:8) Q. MERCY ~ The gift of mercy is the special ability that God gives to certain members of the Body of Christ to feel genuine empathy and compassion for individuals, both Christian and non-christian, who suffer distressing physical, mental or emotional - 10 -

problems, and to translate that compassion into cheerfully done deeds that communicate Christ s love. (Rom 12:8) R. PROPHECY ~ The gift of prophecy is the special ability that God gives to certain members of the Body of Christ to receive and communicate an immediate message of God to His people through a divinely-anointed utterance. (Rom 12:28) S. TONGUES ~ The gift of tongues is the special ability that God gives to certain members of the Body of Christ (a) to speak to God in a language they have never learned and/or (b) to receive and communicate an immediate message of God to His people through a divinely-anointed utterance in a language they have never learned. (I Cor 12:10, 28) T. APOSTLE ~ The gift of apostle is the special ability that God gives to certain members of the Body of Christ to assume and exercise general leadership over a number of churches with an extraordinary authority in spiritual matters that is spontaneously recognized and appreciated by those churches. (Eph 4:11) U. MIRACULOUS POWERS ~ The gift of miraculous powers is the special ability that God gives to certain members of the Body of Christ to serve as human intermediaries through whom it pleases God to perform powerful acts that are perceived by observers to have altered the ordinary course of nature. (I Cor 12:10) V. HEALING ~ The gift of healing is the special ability that God gives to certain members of the Body of Christ to serve as human intermediaries through whom it pleases God to cure illness and restore health apart from the use of natural means. (I Cor 12:9, 28, 30) W. INTERPRETATION OF TONGUES ~ The gift of interpretation of tongues is the special ability that God gives to certain members of the Body of Christ to translate the message of one who speaks in tongues.
