Lesson 3 Faith Toward God

The journey from REPENTANCE FROM DEAD WORKS to FAITH TOWARD GOD is somewhat different for the Jew and Gentile because the Gentiles were never subject to the Law of Moses.

He is then ready to invest his faith solely in the cross of Christ.

The Gentile turns from worshipping idols to serve the living and true God.

1 Thessalonians 1:8-9 8 For from you sounded out the word of the Lord not only in Macedonia and Achaia, but also in every place your faith to God-ward is spread abroad; so that we need not to speak any thing. 9 For they themselves shew of us what manner of entering in we had unto you, and how ye turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God;

The Jew turns from faith in his own works to faith in the work of Jesus Christ.

Galatians 2:16 Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.

When seeking the righteousness of God, the only work that is not a dead work is to believe on Christ.

Now the door to salvation opens to whosoever believeth on him.
